The only thing I have been involved with is date selection and providing a list of friends I wanted invited - the rest is a surprise! I would have been happy to help out with it, but tradition is that my aunt handles details and my sister throws it with her (this is what we did for bridal showers and this is what we did for her baby shower).

@Rubies: I also had my baby shower at my house. There were three hostesses for my shower (my sister and two friends), and my house was the most central for the guests, and we had the best space for it.
I helped pick out food since my sister wanted to do stuff that I was excited about (and not grossed out by) (we had a cooked sushi platter and it was awesome), and the girl who did the invitations showed me two designs and had me pick my favorite, and I requested the "decorate-the-onesie" activity.
So yeah. Um, I guess I was more involved than I thought when I started to answer this question.

I enjoy party planning so I'd love to be more involved, but my mom and my sister won't let me! They've pretty much kept me out of the loop as far as any details go, so I don't even know what to expect! Kind of makes it more exciting though.

@NYCaliMama: I really quite liked having the shower at my house. BUT, we had our cleaning service come the day before, so I didn't have to worry about making sure the house was in order, plus my mom was in town and she helped out with setup and cleanup a lot. I think I'd have been way less enthusiastic about hosting if it meant extra mopping floors and wiping down bathrooms and such. I also appreciated the fact that none of the decorations were difficult to remove. I recently went to a shower that involved baby-themed confetti, and I'd have been pissed if that ended up all over my house.
It was nice to be able to change clothes if I wanted, and not wear shoes if I didn't want to, and have easy access to unlimited Tums, and have my own bathroom. So I am a fan of the "baby shower in your own house," as long as you don't have to stress about cleaning.

All I knew was when it was and where I had to show up. My MIL and SIL took care of everything else.

I picked the date, made the guest list, and helped pick the theme and colors. Oh, and the shower was at my place cause we have a big living room. Everything else was a surprise. I actually liked having the shower at my place cause then people can come see the nursery and I didn't have to transport all the gifts home.
