DH and I both had the thought recently that our baby popped out the opposite gender.
I wonder how often anatomy scans are wrong?
Not counting repeat u/s post anatomy scan were you or anyone you know surprised at birth with the opposite gender?

I had a friend who had four girls. Promised last one was a boy. Everyone who saw the ultrasound said boy. Well, SHE is in college now.

Mine was right! I know of one wrong one but it was done in Mexico so I am not sure what the credibility of the scan was.

I know two people who were told girl, and had a boy. I think that mistake is more common than the other way around.
Eta: not positive, but fairly certain they were both told the sex at the anatomy scan, not earlier.

I had an elective scan with DS #1 at 16 weeks and was told girl but found out he was a boy at our anatomy scan a few weeks later.

Ours was correct but my husband has a friend in Florida who's baby boy was a baby girl! They even had a 3-D ultrasound.
You can always get the bloodtest to be sure. I'm not sure if they offer it this late though.

I know someone who just a few months ago had a boy that was supposed to be a girl. I don't know the details of what all ultrasounds or anything they had.

Mine was right. I do know one person who was told she was having a girl her whole pregnancy, but had a boy.

Mine was right but my cousin's was wrong--it said girl but out came a boy.

Both of mine were right, each time the techs said something along the lines of "it's very clearly a boy/girl". I was really paranoid about DD though since they didn't give us photographic evidence of her girlyness like we received for DS.

Don't scare me lol! Just found out gender at my OB appt yesterday, at least I have my actual anatomy scan next week so they can check again! The tech was 100% sure tho and I saw it pretty clearly too.

My husband's cousin's wife was told she was having a girl at 15 weeks, but she got in a car accident at 19 weeks and found out her girl was actually a boy.
We were told at 20 weeks that she was a girl, and since I had to have follow-up ultrasounds at MFM, I had them check each time to make sure she was still a she.

It was right for me, but when my mom was pregnany with me, they thought I was a boy. Surprise!

I know a couple of people who were told the wrong gender, but in all cases they were told girl and had a boy. I think that mistake is *much* more common.
The earlier the u/s, the higher the likelihood that they will be wrong.

Mine was right, but I also know someone who expected a girl and ended up with a boy! I think it's more common that way round as a boy can 'hide' their extra bits!

I don't know anyone personally, but when in had my anatomy scan, the woman who went before me was 30 weeks and just found out her girl was actually a boy. I guess her anatomy scan was done at a different office and she ended up needing another scan for some reason, which is why she was there.

I've always kept the sex of my babies a surprise, but this is partly the reason why! I'm convinced I'd be that random case where they got it wrong...even though I've never met anyone whom that's happened to! Lol.
