Morning ladies!
This weekend, we are doing nothing but school work and cleaning the house, and I. Can't. Wait. We've been go-go-go the last few weeks, and I need a break!
Hope you all are well

We don't have much going on this weekend. Dh is finally done working weekends so we're enjoying our time together, but it's still kind of weird. We'll adjust.

This weekend we are going to see Catching Fire. I cannot wait! Is it Saturday yet? We also need to do yard work and we'll probably go bowling and out to dinner one night too.
My Lupron and endometrin came yesterday. I have an appointment to get everything started tomorrow. I'm so ready! The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the payment!

I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to out my self as a lurker of these threads! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I can't wait to hear more positive news from this group.

@Leialou: eeek, so exciting! I can't wait for you to get good news this cycle!!
@Mrs. Polish: enjoy that. It's so nice when everyone can be home.
@T.H.O.U.: hey there lady I was thinking about you yesterday. I hope you're well.

@Mrs. Polish: That's awesome that you get weekends together now!
I'm in the TWW and start progesterone tonight.
DH is going out of town Friday night & my parents offered to keep Chloe for the night so I could have some me time. You guys, I don't know what to do with myself! I haven't been alone-alone in almost three years.

@Leialou: Alright! Fingers crossed for you guys. Paying for these meds suck

Not much this weekend. Hopefully it isn't as busy as last weekend.
I'm still angry at my family. I probably won't talk to them for at least a few more days.
I started Metformin on Monday and now I'm starting to feel side effects. I am only taking half dosages and I am supposed to start the full dose this coming Monday. For those who have taken Metformin, does your body ever get used to it?

Happy Thursday! This weekend all I have planned is to obsess over the end of my TWW! Maybe catch a movie. In my mind, I really want to see "12 Years a Slave," but my heart really wants to see "Catching Fire."
Tuesday I should be at 14DPO, and right now my chart is looking triphasic-tastic! But I've been fooled before, so what's new, right? As a semi-control freak, I miss having the follicle sizes and hormone levels - but at the same time, in a small way, ignorance is bliss.

I am going shopping across the boarder (to the US!) with my mom for a ladies weekend
This is my SO's busy season so he will be working crazy hours all weekend anyway.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yay for some me time and for starting the TWW! I'm sure you'll think of something that you've wanted to do!

@LovelyPlum: School work and cleaning doesn't sound like a break to me
@Mrs. Polish: My SO generally works weekends and so when he has the weekend off sometimes I am like "why are you here??" lol. It takes a bit of time to get into a routine when we are both home
@Leialou: Payment=boo! Everything else=YAY!
@T.H.O.U.: Welcome! Glad you decided to say hello
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I hope you find a way to enjoy your "me" time
@pui: I'm sorry about everything happening with your parents/sister. I hope that when you are ready they acknowledge the pain they caused. No experience with Metformin but I have heard from other ladies that it is not fun
@ineebee: Ahhhh so exciting! Care to share your chart??!

@pui: I just read your other thread (I have everything hidden except IF and not baby related right now) and I'm so sorry you're going through this! I would be furious.

Sorry I've been sort of MIA lately... I'm trying to enjoy my TTC break, but I'm addicted to HB, so it's hard! This weekend I'm cleaning and prepping and shopping for Thanksgiving. I volunteered to host (the crazy things we do to get our minds off IF, right?) I'm also going to see Catching Fire with friends, can't wait!

@pui: I'm still so angry for what happened! I hope you're able to find peace.

@pui: Metformin is not fun, hopefully your body adjusts. I think it took me a couple of weeks after reaching my full dose (1500mg) to feel mostly normal again. Fatty, greasy foods make me have bad reactions.
This weekend, I'm hanging out at my parents house with my granny (she flew up from Arizona for Thanksgiving), then I'm going home on Saturday and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning so the house is ready when we host Thanksgiving. Our guest list is up to 15, including husband and I.

@Leialou: Good luck this cycle!
@pui: I'm on Metformin. My only advice is to take it after you eat a big meal. I take mine right after dinner and I've rarely had any side effects from it.
bananas / 9899 posts
@justdarling: I'm supposed to take mine twice a day. I take one in the morning after breakfast and one after dinner. Currently I am taking 250mg twice a day, but next week I am upping it to 500mg twice a day.
@just_ju: I've been eating low carb and healthy meals to try and help my PCOS but I seem to have the side effects from the Metformin regardless. Yuck! Hopefully I get used to it.

@Shutterbug: I am beyond angry at them. I just can't even believe they would do this to me.

This is the first weekend in a while where we have no real plans, yay! We're going to figure out Thanksgivukkah since we're now hosting at the last minute (long story). I'm excited about it, especially since one of my favorite cousins is coming to town.
I shared my update a few days ago, but I'll share it again. I had my appointment with the Perionatologist on Tuesday and I finally found an MD who I think can help! He is re-running a few of my antibody tests that came back questionable, and will likely be starting me on Lovenox when they come back. I promised that I wouldn't start until I got their OK, but they gave me the prescription and the injection demo, so nothing is really stopping me. I hope I get the results before Thanksgiving so I can start around 5-6dpo.
I'd love some Lovenox advice if anyone has it. I hear its a rough one!
@justdarling: Were you told to stop taking baby aspirin once you started the injections? The paperwork says no aspirin, but they know I'm on it and didn't say anything. I'll ask when they call, I'm just curious what your experience is.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Lovenox is a blood thinner, right? Does it work differently if you have IF vs a different medical condition?
DH had to take Lovenox injections years ago when he broke his leg (it was a *really* bad break...). A home health nurse taught him how to use it & he injected himself daily. I don't remember him ever complaining about side effects, difficult of use, etc.
apricot / 452 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I am still on baby aspirin and will be on it my entire pregnancy. I was also told no additional aspirin (other than the baby aspirin) while on lovenox. So pretty much, there is nothing I can take if I get a headache right now.
The Lovenox shots are not fun - I'm not going to lie. They are probably the worst ones I've had yet. I ice the area for a few minutes before the shot and have even started using a topical numbing cream to help. The needles that are used in the pre-filled syringes are not very sharp so you really need to stab yourself. After the shot, I ice the area again and put a lot of pressure on it. The medicine really stings, but the pressure and the ice help to lessen that. Also, sometimes I bruise really badly - like it seriously looks like my husband is beating me! If you bruise, do not do another shot in a bruised area until it heals. The nurse at my RE told me that - I don't know why, but she said to let it heal first. Good luck with the lovenox - it sounds like this new doctor is really good.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yep, its a blood thinner. I think it works the same way, but the prescribing reason is different of course. My blood is too clotty, so this is to alleviate that. His was probably fine, but they wanted to thin it because of the break. I had a friend who had a blood clot from HBP and took something like it for a while too.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@justdarling: Yikes! The one thing the nurse did tell me was that one of her patients injected the medicine over a whole minute and had no bruising. I may try that...
apricot / 452 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I cringe at the thought of injecting it for a whole minute!!! That stuff stings! Try a few different ways and see what happens. I've read that it is easier if you go in at like a 45 degree angle. My DH does the injections and I close my eyes so I really don't know what he's doing. Sometimes I bruise really badly and other times I don't at all. Also, sometimes I bleed and it takes forever to stop since it's a blood thinner. It's a lot of fun!

Weekend? I'm not sure yet. I need to go shopping for Thanksgiving dinner.
Updates. I'm CD10 and starting OPKs. Finished my femera dose a few days ago. U/S is scheduled for Monday, unless I get a + on the OPKs before then. IUI is scheduled for 11/26.
pomelo / 5000 posts
I'm still in the TWW. Not feeling pregnant (minus symptons I chalk up to being effects of the progesterone), but since I've never been pregnant, what do I know? If cycle 14(ish) is a flop for us, we're taking Dec. off. As for this weekend, maybe I need to go see the movie that sounds like a popular pick!
@bluestriped bee: have you taken Femara before? I could really feel when I was going to ovulate. Your IUI is soon!
@justdarling: why does the angle help? I didn't do this on injectables and got some mega bruises. I also had to refrigerate my meds, and found that if the medicine was still really cold, it would sting.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: stay strong in the TWW! Besides physical symptoms on progesterone, I have some discharge that is kind of gross, especially since mine is pink.
@mrs.someone: my friend's hair thinned on it, so be prepared for that possibility. She followed the icing advice that others have mentioned. When is your next appt?
@just_ju: nothing like house visitors to inspire cleaning! 15 is a lot! I love big Thanksgiving gatherings.
@T.H.O.U.: hi! *waves* Hope you're doing well.
@ineebee: what?! You're 14 dpo, have a triphasic chart, and haven't tested? Do you wait until you missed a period, or am I missing part of your story? I would so be testing right now if I were in your shoes.
@Leialou: good luck! Do you also post on the IVF thread? I'm going to have to pop over there to catch up on how people are doing.
@shutterbug: ha! We're going to take a TTC break in December. I'll be honest--my first thought was, "I wonder if I should still check in with HB?" I think I will still check in here. I so appreciate this IF corner of HB and getting to know you all.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@justdarling: Yea, that didn't sound appealing to me either (except for lack of bruising). The nurse also said a 45degree angle is better. Also, the needle has a bevel that she said to point up.
@Happygal: ACK! I really hope that doesn't happen to me, though I do have super thick hair to start with.
I think I'm going to retract my request for suggestions, I don't want to get too freaked out Thanks anyway though!

Dipping my toes in on this board a bit more...now that I've finally been referred to an RE and will hopefully be starting IUI in January. This weekend we are flying out early for Thanksgiving, since we have to come home the day after Thanksgiving due to crazy airline prices. Oh! And hopefully ovulating and starting progesterone for the first time. The annoying stabbing Clomid cramps and bloating started yesterday, so I know should happen in the next few days.
@Leialou: That is so exciting! Well, other than the cost, but still, yay!
@T.H.O.U.: hello, fellow lurker and new joiner of these threads!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Good luck in your TWW!
@pui: Sorry to hear about the side effects
@ineebee: Hope the end of the TWW goes smoothly for you. Trying not to obsess is near impossible, I know. A movie sounds like a good distraction!
@Mrs.Someone: no advice on the Lovenox, but just wanted to wish you luck and I hope that your test results come back soon so you can get started!
@bluestriped bee: Hope your IUI goes well!! Can I ask, do you have any side effects on Femera? I'm likely going to be switching to it from Clomid soon, and I've heard it has a lot less side effects?
@Happygal: sending you lots of positive vibes for the rest of your TWW!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Sprite: I haven't had any side effects while on Femera. I've never been on Clomid so I can't compare the two.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@sprite: dip away, my friend! And thanks for the positive vibes I'm sorry for not knowing your story, but do you have a diagnosis? How long have you been TTC for?
@mrs.someone: I didn't mean to scare you! My friend iced and bruised occassionally, but she said isn't wasn't that bad.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sprite: I didn't have many side effects on Clomid, but I did get bad headaches, and the one cycle I took Femara I didn't have any side effects whatsoever. I also ovulated earlier on Femara. (Welcome, btw )
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Happygal: I know you didn't! But I'm now thinking I'm better being clueless, especially at the beginning where it will be hardest and most likely to be helping. Thanks though
apricot / 452 posts
@Happygal: I don't know why the angle is supposed to help. I didn't have much bruising with other injectibles that I have been on, but the Lovenox is a totally different story, especially since it is a blood thinner.
@Mrs.Someone: I don't mean to scare you, but this is my experience so far. Don't google lovenox - you'll get some crazy stories and it totally freaked me out! If I can do lovenox, you can totally do it! I haven't had any side effects that I wasn't expecting and didn't already know about. But, I will be so happy when I can stop taking the shots!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Sprite: hey there! Glad to see you round these parts (well, not really, but you know what I mean )
@mrswin: LOL, fair. It's probably not. But we are so close to the end of the semester that there's not much choice. I'm just glad I don't have to do a whole bunch of running around, which we had to do the last few weekends. And the cleaning is absolutely necessary-my house is a MESS.
@ineebee: sounds promising. Crossing my fingers for you!!!
@Happygal: super hopeful that this is it for you!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: super hopeful that this TWW brings you nothing but good things!
@Mrs.Someone: I didn't respond last week, but I'm glad that your appointment went well! I didn't even realize that perinatologists did fertility-related consults, but it sounds like you found a great match. So much better than your RE experience!
pomelo / 5228 posts
@justdarling: Yea, I googled it a while ago and got a little scared, but I'm at the point where I think it could be my old chance since my losses are so early. And it sounds like it would be on it throughout an entire pregnancy. You still have all your hair right?
@LovelyPlum: Thanks! I didn't know they would be willing to help either, but an internet friend recommended this particular practice.
apricot / 452 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Yes, I still have my hair!!! I understand where you are at. This was one of our last options and I was (and still am) willing to try whatever it takes. I may only have to be on it through the first trimester. They will do a certain blood test at 11 weeks and determine then how much longer I have to be on it. I really hope I can stop it then. I only have a tiny baby belly at this point and I am running out of places for the injection! I can't imagine giving shots in the belly when I am bigger.
kiwi / 693 posts
@Happygal: Oh yes, I suppose some back story might be in order. Let's see. I'm 31, and I don't have a diagnosis yet, but I believe I'm still experiencing issues related to being on depo provera without AF for a decade, even though I've been off since January 2012. My cycles didn't return until Oct 2012, and they have been all kinds of wonky since, anywhere from 19-32 days, but more recently 25-31. Through charting and using OPKs I learned I wasn't ovulating at all, although sometimes it seemed my body would gear up to and then fail, so try again twice the same cycle. Finally after getting my progesterone tested a few cycles this summer, my ob/gyn put me on Clomid, unmonitored. 50mg didn't really work, but I've been on 100mg the past 5 cycles and it seems to be working, but I am now battling a short LP, my last was only 9 days. I finally insisted on more testing recently, and had low, but not horrible, AMH (0.75), but everything else came back normal so I was sent to an RE this week, and finally am getting on progesterone to help with my LP. Next month I'll be doing a HSG and DH will do a SA, then we're meeting the RE in mid Dec to lay out the plan of action, which she said will probably be IUI with femera and ovidrel or possibly adding follistim/bravelle/gonal F, depending on how aggressive we want to be.
@bluestriped bee: @Shutterbug: that is great to know about the few side effects on femera! @Shutterbug: no headaches (or stabbing ovulation pains and bloating!) would be wonderful, as would ovulating earlier. On clomid I've O'd anywhere from CD16-21, and with my short LP issues it's frustrating.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sprite: Unmedicated I O around CD18-21 and my LP is 8-9 days, so I feel your pain! The progesterone supp. have increased my LP to 15 days though, so that should help you!
