I watch award shows if dh isn't around. He doesn't like watching them for some reason. He used to work weekend evenings so it always worked out for me. He doesn't now though so I think I will settle for recaps.
I'm on cd14, still taking things one day at a time. We've been DTD every other day, but my parents are leaving for an international vacation tomorrow and my brothers are staying with us... Throwing quite a wrench in any possible baby making. So this will be a fun experience in having older school aged kids.

@Mrs. Polish: good for you, lady I hope your one day at a time is making you happy. Have fun being creative
I am a sucker for Oscars, mostly so I can see what I need to rent on Redbox...I'm usually too cheap to see them in theatres!

I don't really watch award shows live. I DVR the country music based shows and watch them later for the performances though
AF reared her head this week so we officially enter a new cycle... DH had something come up at work the day we made the consultation appointment with my doctor. So I rescheduled it for a week earlier. Yikes. One last try on our own in the meantime...

I don't watch award shows. I do like to see the dresses so I'll look those up the next day.
As far as updates go, I posted that my HSG went well and my tubes are clear! I'm impatiently waiting my consult with my RE at the end of the month to see what the next step is.
@Mrs. Polish: I bet having the older kids will be fun! Good luck!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Mrs. Polish: oh boy! How are your brothers with Zay?
@LindsayInNY: eee are you excited for your appt? When is it?
@MrsTal: glad your tubes are clear! I saw on the other thread that you're worried about your Dr not being aggressive enough. Definitely speak up for yourself and be as aggressive as you're comfortable with!
I love awards shows, but I love the pre-shows more... I flip back and forth between the official one and the E! one.
Updates: I had my ER on Monday and they got 16 eggs, and now we have 8 embryos. I got the call yesterday that they're letting them grow to blastocysts (day 5) so I'll have my transfer on Saturday.

I like them but only if I have time for them and usually on the dvr. Then I fast forward to the parts I care about.
So, found out I have thrombophilia mthfr and the auto immune guy says I need it all (prednisone, aspirin, heparin, and ivig).
Right now we are waiting for our life to settle dh has been looking for a new job and we hope to move this summer.
blogger / nectarine / 2010 posts
@Shutterbug: they're actually wonderful with him. They sometimes crowd him which annoys me, but he loves them. They also understand that he's a baby, so I don't expect any problems there.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs. Polish: sometimes just having family nearby kills the mood for me! How many brothers do you have?
@LindsayInNY: fingers crossed you won't have to visit the RE! So you're a country music fan? I go through phases where I really like it and listen to it all the time....I'm going to tune in to a country station on my ride home from work today.
@MrsTal: what other tests have you had done? For me, after all the testing, we discussed results and plan of action. She gave me info for all the different drugs, their success rates, etc. We decided to take a conservative approach, but she would have been willing to be more aggressive if we wanted. So it could be good to keep those things in mind when you go to meet again.
@Shutterbug: man, Saturday probably feels like a long way away! How long does the transfer usually take? I know basic IVF stuff, but not the details on stuff like that. How are you feeling?
@brownie: do you like your autoimmune doc? Are you guys putting TTC on hold until summer? I know @mrs. someone: has experience with these things and is taking lovenox herself.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Happygal: so from what I understand, the transfer is basically the same as an IUI (catheter in the cervix, etc) and it doesn't take long. I do think they do it in the surgical center though, because they told me no perfume (same as ER). I'll be awake for it though. It does seem like so far away, but at least I'll be 5 days into my TWW when it's done, LOL!
blogger / nectarine / 2010 posts
@Happygal: two. They're 8&9. The problem is that we don't have a guest room and I have a feeling they'll end up in my room.
blogger / nectarine / 2010 posts
@Shutterbug: fingers crossed! I'll be thinking of you Saturday.

No updates for me--going to test in a few days. Not feeling pregnant past sore boobs, but that is likely the progesterone doing it's job. I'll be disappointed, of course, but not as devastated last time b/c I can now say we did everything we could do since we got past the IUI struggle.
The other day, my husband told me he felt good about the plan: taking February off and then trying again up until June or so. I realized he was not clear on the plan! I'm not sure how many more IUIs/injectable cycles we'll do, but definitely not 4-5 more. He also surprised me by saying he wanted to be there when I take a pregnancy test. It could be nice to be together, but I also thought it would be fun to surprise him.

Oh, and I've never watched an awards show from start to finish. I get too bored. I do love to look at sites like US weekly for the fashion recaps, and will youtube any speeches that were supposedly funny or touching.

We watch award shows if nothing else is on the DVR line-up.
As far as updates... Today marks CD#3- 1st day of clomid again! I called Tuesday to schedule my CD12 u/s and of course it always falls on my long work days (13 hrs) so there is no way for me to sneak away to do it. ::boo:: I see my ob for this so they are not open on weekends. I don't think the nurse was very happy with me and almost made it sound like I should skip this month of clomid until I can be monitored. I am not about to be held back a month due I this, so I told her to put in my progesterone draw date and we can go from there. !! So- bring it on clomid!!

@Shutterbug: More nervous than excited right now, LOL! Woo, that's a good number of eggs, isn't it?! Is the transfer on Saturday IVF? I'm still trying to figure all this stuff out!
@Happygal: My music tastes are ALL over the place! I love country as much as I love Eminem, ironically, LOL. It's even grown on DH which I didn't think was possible!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Shutterbug: Saturday is exciting! So soon! How do you feel?
@brownie: oh wow. How do you feel about the diagnosis? I hope that the new doctor has been helpful. It sounds like maybe you have the start of a plan going forward?
@Happygal: I hope that you don't have to be disappointed, but I'm glad you're feeling better. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. This ended up being your first IUI cycle, right?
@LindsayInNY: did you end up making the appointment with your OB or an RE?
bananas / 9229 posts
@Shutterbug: And hold onto the others, right? Can't wait for updates!!
@LovelyPlum: It's with my usual ob/gyn since she told me to come back and see her at the one year mark. I think they refer out to REs though, not totally sure?

@Shutterbug: good luck saturday
I do like award shows. I'm bummed the Golden Globes isn't on Hulu, I have to remember to get DH to download it.
So I just got back from my post hysterscopy follow up with my new Doctor. Can I just say I really like him! I'm so happy I went to him. I'm so grateful to my one client for suggesting it, and I wish I would have done it sooner! UGH, I'm mad that I wasted so much time.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Basically I was filled up with polyps, and now I'm not! I even had them in or blocking my tubes. He showed me pics from the procedure, and is even going to email them to me. We have to sit out this cycle (boo!) But we can start trying again in February. CROSSING FINGERS!!!
Oh and GET THIS: He did a TV/US to make sure my cervix was closed all the way and just to check things out..and he had ROBES! Not even flimsy hospital gowns, but plush, white robes. Officially my favorite doctor in this country! lol I'm emotional right now from all of it, but really happy and hopeful. I highly recommend getting a hysterscope done, because why not?! You could be filled with polyps like me, and not even know it!
Oh and also, I have a slightly bicornate uterus. It's only slight and it would most likely mean a baby that stays in breech position if this all happens. But that's way down the line....
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mrs bunchy: I will say that is a major benefit of seeing an RE--they accommodate all schedules! Sometimes they tell me to bring a book, but they'll work me in the same day. The logistics of getting all the patients seen on specific days and times is mind boggling! What kind of work do you do? A 13 hour shift is so looonnnnng.
@LovelyPlum: thank you, and yes, it's the end of my first IUI cycle, and third injectable cycle. I hope you're doing well! I didn't read your thread about feeling like you're being shocked b/c it honestly scared me a little bit. Pregnancy seems to have lots of potential hardships!
@LindsayInNY: I can still sing country music songs from many years ago. Those songs can really get stuck in your head! I don't know if your OB will refer you out right away--there are people here who've done first steps with their OBs. I moved to a RE right away b/c I wanted to be able to do all the testing, including my husband's SA, and I knew my midwife couldn't handle all of that.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I'm glad you like the new doctor!! It's crazy how the little things like fancy robes can make you feel more comfortable, haha. At my egg retrieval they had these seersucker type robes and in my loopiness after the procedure I said to DH that I wanted to keep it. LOL!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: It makes me really happy to see such a positive and hopeful update from you. What are usual symptoms of polyps? I don't know much about them--do share! I'm also jealous of your robe. I get just the half sheet across my lap.
Oh, and @LindsayInNY: I think I remember you asking about the SA before somewhere? They instructed my husband to abstain from sex for a few days, so there is a little planning involved.
nectarine / 2600 posts
@Happygal: I don't know if there are any symptoms! I sure didn't have any! Well, except miscarriages I guess...?
Here's what the Mayo Clinic gives for symptoms:
Signs of uterine polyps include:
Irregular menstrual bleeding — for example, having frequent, unpredictable periods of variable length and heaviness
Bleeding between menstrual periods
Excessively heavy menstrual periods
Vaginal bleeding after menopause
Infertility
The only thing I had was IF I guess? Crazy. My periods are always pretty light actually. So who knows!?

@Happygal: @LovelyPlum: The auto immune guy is okay. It seems like I am weird but I think that by throwing everything at it we have the best chance of success.
So the MTHFR I don't know much about but aspirin or heparin is usually the treatment so I'm okay with that. It doesn't surprise me too much because blood clots are common in my family.
The auto immune panel had a low cross listing at .33 but the 19% was high. The DQ alpha we had a 75% chance of having a problem. And I had low natural killer activity but a high number of natural killer cells. So a little of everything.
The only concern I had was a home birth and heparin (we had a lot of blood loss with our first birth). But the autoimmune doctor promised me he can give me a shot that will reverse the heparin and a home birth would be safe for us. The other concern is definitely money.
We also don't have an RE right now (we have been interviewing). We have a few options a very well known auto immune RE that is 4 hours from us currently but if we move will be 7 hours away. He batches cycles and I'm not sure if they will work with my schedule. An RE trained by the well known guy who also batches cycles with NONE fitting my schedule. He would probably put me on intralipids. Or another place that would be significantly cheaper than any of those and would let the auto immune guy run that part of the show.

@Shutterbug: Wow! Those are great embryo numbers! I hope your transfer goes well. I hope all continues to go well!
kiwi / 533 posts
@Happygal: yeah, I agree with that- RE schedules are much more accommodating ! After this cycle we are going to reevaluate where we are at and take the next steps if necessary!!
For work- I am an xray tech at an urgent care. Monday and Wednesdays are my loonnngggg days!! But after those I do 3 half days (2 days being every other weekend). It's not a bad schedule after Wednesday!!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I am so glad to hear this!!! Does he think that the polyps were causing some of the losses and/or making it hard to get pregnant in the meantime? Either way, it makes me *so* incredibly happy to see you have positive news!
@Happygal: so, good news on that front! It turns out that the shocks/jolts aren't from pregnancy directly; they are a side effect of me weaning off of my Zoloft. My doctor and I decided to try to get off of it for the third trimester, but I didn't realize that this could be a withdrawal effect from SSRIs. I only had one yesterday, so I'm hopeful they'll be over soon. And thanks for thinking of me. You're right-I'm discovering that pregnancy isn't a happy fantasy land, just like TTC isn't. But in the end, they're both so worth it
@brownie: that is a lot to consider, yeesh. But I'm glad that they've been proactive and are trying to find a solution that gives you a good chance of success. Those schedules sound intense!
nectarine / 2600 posts
@LovelyPlum: Yes, he says it could have caused the miscarriages. Although I'm not sure about the first one, b/c that was so long ago...and it wasn't like there was a grapefruit sized one in there.

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I'm still following along and rooting hard for you all
@Shutterbug: So excited for you! I hope all goes well on Saturday.
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I agree, its so great to see such a happy update from you. I'm glad you finally found a good doctor, and I hope this is it!
@brownie: Has the doctor talked about Lovenox instead of Heparin at all? Its my understanding that Heparin is 2x/day and Lovenox is just once. Though you have to switch to Heparin at 36w in case of emergency c-section (they want it out of your body). And because you have MTHFR, make sure you never take folic acid, instead take folate since it bypasses the defect. Also, I wasn't able to find a midwife willing to take me because of the bloodthinners, but hopefully you have better luck. Glad you found some answers!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: have you seen the pictures? I would be intrigued and freaked out to see my insides.
@mrs bunchy: Ohhh, I'm betting you have seen some gnarly things in the urgent care! Bones sticking out where they shouldn't stick out?!
@LovelyPlum: that's wild! I've never heard of that. It sounds like you have a good doctor working closely with you.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Happygal: Glad that your husband is being a "game player" now! And FWIW, this last BFP cycle I only tested because its what I always did. I had zero symptoms, so don't count yourself out yet! Oh, and I was super stressed that month too
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs.Someone: What?! You got pregnant when you were stressed?! I thought that only happened when you were relaxed.
I'm being snarky of course, which I know isn't attractive, but I can't resist. Thank you for the encouragement and checking in--it's good to know you're doing well! Have you shared your news with family and friends?
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
I watched some. We have Hulu Plus, Netflix and an antennae, so we can't even always watch the award shows, depending on the channel and if it's coming in well.
If I had known it was going to be on, I would have watched the intro, because I love Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. I ended up tuning in after Downton Abbey, but I wasn't impressed.
In the TTC dept. there won't be any updates for awhile. We have about 6 weeks until DH gets re-tested and we'll see where to go from there. My parents' chiropractor apparently has a 100% success rate working with male infertility clients. Although I wonder if that means there have just been 2 or something. ha! Anyway, that will likely be our next step if our RE doesn't suggest IUI. We should probably be jumping in IVF before I turn 30, but it just doesn't feel right yet. Nor is the money there. So, just more waiting. I guess that's always the story.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Happygal: I've actually been waiting for one of those threads to pop up to add my snarky response We've only shared the news with parents. I have a few friends on the early list, but I'm chicken. I kindof like it being our secret right now. My next appointment is on 2/4, so after that we'll start telling everyone.
kiwi / 533 posts
@Happygal: yes!! It's kinda crazy how people hurt themselves too!! No 2 days are ever alike!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs. Pinata: do your parents benefit from seeing a chiropractor? I really have no opinion on it b/c I haven't researched, but it seems people have strong feelings on both sides! Are you okay with continuing to wait, or are you feeling antsy?
@Mrs.Someone: I'll keep an eye out for that snarky response. I like the idea of having a big secret with just my husband. 2/4 sounds far away, but I guess it isn't that far off! I'll be watching for that update as well.
I subscribe to a couple of youtube channels. I just got an email update from them, and on the bottom it said, "We think you would like...." with video clips. It was a video of a musician, puppy training, and a diagram of an IUI. What a weird combo, and strangely representative of my life!
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
wow this post is hopping in just a few hours! I am not an awards show person but I do love the dresses so may buy an US Weekly or watch Fashion Police
I have no real updates - will be in the TWW all week! 2 dpiui today. I am starting to think my stomach bug might have really been some OHSS . . . I've never had it before but this has been really weird. definitely have had some weight gain (but not crazy) that didn't make sense with what I was eating, very bloated throughout my abdomen. the day of my IUI I was so full/nauseous I couldn't eat more than 3 crackers and eating or drinking anything was painful. wicked headaches and extreme fatigue. who really knows what's going on but it's weird, and it started up the day after my trigger, which I read can be a cause. we'll see if the RE thinks anything of it. really hoping this time can just be it . . .
@Shutterbug: yay for transfer this week!!
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@Happygal: Great question(s)! My parents love their chiropractor. I actually go to one too and love him, but he doesn't really do anything with infertility. But, he sure helps me with my shoulder and neck tension/pain! Apparently my parents' chiropractor also does kinesiology/supplement stuff that a lot of DCs don't do, so we find it intriguing.
And you know, we were VERY antsy this fall, but after getting our last bad SA we decided we would pursue adoption again before IVF, so I think we're ok with continuing to try for biological kids through these various routes while starting the adoption process again, so I'm ok with it. We know that we definitely want to adopt again, for ourselves AND for Little P, so I guess it has taken some of the pressure off of wanting to desperately get pregnant for now. Although it's still hard to hear pregnancy announcements, etc.
And that's so funny about your email updates! I feel like my "internet profile" is also pretty random!
