We got pretty cold. I'm glad it's over. Our pipes froze and it was overall not fun.
AF stopped and I am still kind of in denial that for the first time in my life I've just had two normal cycles in a row. I'm about to ask a really stupid question that I should know the answer to, but don't. Can I be having regular 28 day cycles without o'ing? I've always either had a constant period (18+ days is when I finally gave in and stopped it with bcp) or I've had no period at all. I know, I know, I could opk and I might if things keep going like this.
I hope you're all well.

Yay, I'm the first reply! I'm usually late to the game with check-ins!
We were in the path of polar vortex! I'm in NY and I think the coldest it got with windchill was -15. Not too bad when my hometown got down to -30!
I just bundled up every time I went outside and made an effort to get from point A to B quickly (apartment to bus, bus to subway, subway to office!) and it wasn't TOO bad.
@Mrs. Polish: To answer your question I do think that you can have a 28 day cycle and not ovulate. But I'm not a doctor and haven't experienced it myself, so don't put too much weight into that!
As for me, as you all know, I'm sitting tight at 1dp5dt. I'm currently laying in bed, having an internal debate on whether to POAS. Clearly the part of me that wants to is delusional because it's impossible. But I also want to see (as a science experiment of sorts) how early after a transfer I could see something (assuming I ever see anything).
Plus I had a dream that I got a bfp only after one day. It was a weird piece of paper and I put drops of my pee in different spots and it would tell me how much hcg was in my system. Lol.
You know the show on TLC, My Strange Addiction? I think I need to apply. "My Strange Addiction: POAS"

@SweetiePie: oh my gosh. The test you had a dream about reminds me of the newborn blood test they do in the hospital. It's immediately what I though of when you were describing it. Haha. Fingers crossed that whenever you start poas you see good news.

@Mrs. Polish: Oh so maybe my dream was a good sign then, haha. A hybrid of HPT and newborn

We were in that cold snap. Got to -30 but it could have been worse, my parents got like 12 inches of snow and weren't allowed to drive anywhere for 3 days.
My HSG is scheduled for next Wednesday. I'm both excited and terrified. I'm convinced that my tubes are blocked because I don't know what else could be wrong, with my regular cycles. I just don't know. I mean I am glad to be moving forward but I also don't want to do it.
@Mrs. Polish: I think it is possible to be regular without Oing but I'm not totally sure.
@SweetiePie: when are you able to test or are you suppose to wait to do betas?
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Mrs. Polish: It is possible to have a 28 day cycle and not ovulate. Would you be interested in temping or OPK'ing to see... I think I remember you mentioning that you notices some good CM (man that was weird to type!) this past cycle. I would say that maybe you are O'ing?!
@SweetiePie: I wouldn't blame you for POAS today but no good will come of it so try to hold out ok?... at least until tomorrow
@MrsTal: The HSG wasn't bad at all. I had minor cramping but other than that it was pretty much exactly like having a Pap

@Mrs. Polish: No, pretty close northwest Ohio they finally got the go ahead to work yesterday.

We got COLD here -40C...uggghhh. It caused some problems for people around us but other than our drafty windows my SO and I were ok.
I went for monitoring this morning and I have 2 good size follicles and my lining was at 10mm! I had a negative OPK yesterday but depending on today's bloodwork we may be going ahead with our IUI on Saturday or Sunday
blogger / nectarine / 2010 posts
@mrswin: I'm not good at reading cm. I never had anything happen naturally before right now, so it feels like I'm starting all over at square 1. I have opks but had been avoiding them because they stress me out. I most likely will try them though if my cycles keep being regular.
@MrsTal: it's insane. We're allowed out now, but there isn't a point because the store shelves are completely empty because they couldn't get shipments. We're just laying low until spring.

Yes!! We were def in the path! Chicago was cold cold cold !
I am currently 3 days out from AF and not feeling very hopeful guess there is always next month !!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@MrsTal: I'm definitely supposed to wait for betas...but here's no chance I can wait 12 days. It's scheduled for 1/20.
I've done a ton of consulting on Dr. Google and it seems the earliest possible BFP is 4dp5dt. It seems like the majority were able to get a bfp at 5-7dp5dt. In a frozen cycle, that is, because there was no trigger.
So I'm possibly going to test on Monday (if I can hold out that long!)
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Mrs. Polish: you are making me so excited for you! I think it's a very good sign that you are having regular cycles because you used to have (long) anovulatory cycles, so I think if you were back to not ovulating then your cycles would be long again. Just my $0.02
@mrswin: great news! That's a nice thick lining!
@MrsTal: the HSG isn't bad, and if it is, it's usually because there's a bit of a blockage, which they can sometimes flush out with the dye. Sooo hopefully it'll either be easy peasy or productive
@SweetiePie: they're seriously making you wait until 12dp5dt for a beta? I'd be peeing on all the sticks too, haha!
I was in the polar vortex, but not too bad. We had a couple days with -21 degree wind chills. My poor dog was dancing around the yard trying not to keep his paws on the ground
Update: I'm on day 9 of stims for IVF and so far I have 7 follicles > 11mm and 10-20 follicles <11mm. I go back for monitoring tomorrow and the nurse guessed my ER would be Monday at the earliest.
My BFF's baby shower is this Sunday so if the ER is Monday I'll be all bloated and HCG-ed out (from the trigger) and I'm worried I'll have a baby envy melt down LOL. The good thing is both she and my mom (who is going with me to the shower) know about my IVF..

@SweetiePie: I'm currently sitting in RE office and reading posts and yours made me LOL.....I think you should apply....I think it would be an eye opener to the world of TTC and IF for some. ...lord knows I'd POAS daily if I could.....lol

I feel bad for posting this but I'm in FL and well the coldest we got for the BIG cold front was 30 at night but for FL that is cold...lol I have family in MN so I was hearing all about the -50 and below that is CRAZY!!!!!!!
update: Currently CD3 and waiting in RE office for u/s and b/w to make sure I'm ok to start Clomid today :))))
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
I'm in TX so it the coldest it was during the day was 27. That's not too bad compared to the rest of the country!
No updates here. We aren't doing another FET for a few months. I'm kind of scared to do it again because we only have 2 embryos left and if it doesn't work that's it. In the mean time we have lots of stuff planned! My dad and sister are coming to visit in a week, then we're going on a cruise to Mexico. A couple weeks after we get back is the Walk of Hope for Resolve. My mom is coming to town for that. In March I'm going to FL with my MIL to help DH's grandmother get her house ready to go on the market. So I have tons of distractions. It's going to be great to have a break from the appointments and medications.

@Leialou: I like your attitude!!!!!! Stay busy, clear your mind and go back when your ready!!!!!! :))))))) Jealous of the Mexico cruise!

@SweetiePie: no one gets a at 6dpo! Maybe at 8.
@Shutterbug: it sounds like your stims are going well!

@Mrs. Polish: I think you can.. My RE tolde you can have a period and not ovulate, or ovulate and not have a period.
We were hit by the #polarvortex (definitely needs a hashtag!) and it got as cold as -45 here. We threw boiling water into the air and it blew my mind. For some reason I didn't think it would work!
@SweetiePie: when can you test?!
@FaithFertility: good luck today!
pomelo / 5000 posts
Well, I thought it got pretty cold here, but Virginia has nothing on you guys! I think it was 7, but something below zero with the wind chill. We had school delayed by two hours one day b/c they worried about kids at the bus stop and mechanical failure with the buses.
@Mrs. Polish: I think (but cannot say for certain) that you can have a regular cycle with no ovulation. In fact, I think that happened to a friend of mine!
@SweetiePie: I feel like I shouldn't encourage the early testing too much, but I must say that I like your enthusiasm! That's a crazy dream. I dreamt my dog worked with a pack of wolves to take down a bunch of deer last night and I had no control....I hope that's not related to baby stuff in any way!
@MrsTal: I hope your HSG is quick and painless for you. Please share your experience on that HSG experience thread when it's over! Have you guys already done a SA and bloodwork?
@mrswin: great update! Does your RE do back to back IUIs?
@mrs bunchy: Oh, you're in what I think is my least favorite part of the entire cycle--where you're pretty sure you aren't pregnant, but you're not for sure. This is the point where you just want to know and either celebrate with a BFP or move on to the next cycle. Will you test or wait for your period to start? I'm sorry for not remembering, but was this a medicated cycle for you?
@Shutterbug: It sounds like you're advancing along nicely! I hope the HCG trigger bloat is not too bad.
@FaithFertility: What was the doctor's verdict? Yeah, the Florida weather makes me very jealous.
@Leialou: I'm glad you have a bunch of fun things to keep you happy and occupied! Will you transfer both embryos next time?
pomelo / 5000 posts
No real updates here, just hanging out in the TWW. Well, my tone is a little misleading b/c it makes me sound breezy and laid back. Really, I've been obsessing over numbers and stats and worrying a lot in general. I've been thinking a lot about what the next steps will be if this cycle isn't the one for us, but realized I need to try not to obsess.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Leialou: Haha, I know I know. My logical self knows its not possible but I just can't wait! This is my Christmas morning.
In the end this morning, logic won out. Will it tomorrow? Still too soon to say.
I did read that ONE woman on another board got a BFP at 2dp5dfet. Her embryo must've been full hatched when it was transferred or something though because that seems crazy to me!

Not affected by the polar votex here in Seattle. It's been raining and 46 degrees here. I was on the east coast visiting family and I left on Jan 2nd (the day that NorEaster came through). My flight wasn't delayed since I left at 5pm and right before the heavy snow started in Philly but our plane was stuck in a huge line to be de-iced. Finally took off 3 hours later and arrive to Seattle safe and sound. Had I taken the 9pm flight home, I think my flight would have been cancelled. I'm actually glad I left when I did because my family and friends were complaining how cold it was. I sorta remember what negative windchil feels like when I was growing up, I'm glad I didn't have to experience it. Stay warm guys!
As for IF updates, I'm still waiting for AF, I think I must of just ovulated or will be ovulating because I have increase CM. I thought AF would arrive today but I don't think it's coming. I thought my last dose of femera would shorten my cycle. But it appears that my cycle is back to normal (33 days) and will probably come Jan 14 ish like my fertility app suggests.
I do want AF to come so I can get started on my last IUI.
We are in the middle of looking at homes to rent and just got approved on a house. (So excited the doggies will have a big yard to run around in.) We are negotiating rent right now but it will be good to focus on packing, moving and decorating before I jump into IUI appointments. It's actually good that AF hasn't come yet. I can't imagine packing, buying furniture, prepping new house, moving, adding IUI appointments and, oh, yeah, going to work. I'm feeling good that this house move and AF taking her time is a good sign for 2014.

Oh, I've been meaning to recommend a workbook to you all. It's called "The Infertility Workbook," by Barbara Blitzer. Has anyone used this before? I was looking at educational/teaching books, and someone had misplaced this there--I figured it was a sign and bought it. I've been really enjoying it.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@mrswin: Haha, ok ok. I'll wait
The weekend is almost here!!! Can't wait for your IUI!
@mrs bunchy: Sorry you don't feel hopeful, but its not over yet! Try not to give up!
@Shutterbug: I know, right!?! 12dp5dt is like 17 DPO!!! Who waits until 17dpo to find out if they are pregnant? Uh, certainly not me. Of course when DH read my 'discharge' instructions yesterday that said in all caps "DO NOT TAKE A HOME PREGNANCY TEST" he tried to tell me that I should listen. Pfffft.
Glad your stims are going well and YAY for a tentative retrieval day! Remind me, are you planning on doing transfer 3 or 5 days after?
@FaithFertility:
Glad you liked my "Strange Addiction" reference.
Speaking of, last night they had a couple of new episodes (at least they were new to me) and they were:
-Addicted to Plastic Surgery - A woman who had Triple L sized implants and wanted to increase to Triple Q
-A woman who groomed (i.e. licked) her cat to clean it and ate the cat's fur. Not just from grooming - but would walk around her house and look for furballs and eat them. She'd take baggies of cat fur out of the house so she could 'snack'.
-A couple who was addicted to giving themselves coffee enemas. Enough said.
Hmmmmm...my POAS addiction doesn't sound so bad anymore.
@Leialou: You are one tough cookie and I really admire your outlook.
@Happygal: Ah, I so can't wait to hear your results! And I am doing the same thing...every couple of hours I'm googling "earliest possible BFP after 5 day FET" and reading. Not necessarily for research, but because it makes me happy to read success stories
honeydew / 7463 posts
@bluestriped bee: Alright, I guess I'll cheer for AF to come for you this one time I have a good feeling about this last IUI for you!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@SweetiePie: haha my DH would probably be the same way. And then I'd say 'ok honey' and then POAS anyway LOL! I plan to do 5 day transfer if they make it that far, but I'll leave it up to the RE. I'm also leaning toward transferring a single embryo, but that will depend on the # and quality we get.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@SweetiePie: what in the fuck is a coffee enema?! And uh, exactly how large is a Q?! I don't even want to google this.
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@Mrs. Polish: Yeah, you can have a regular cycle and not ovulate, but it's definitely a step in the right direction! Would you be interested in taking your BBT each morning? It would definitely let you know if you were ovulating or not. For some reason that stressed me out less than OPK. PLUS, it was way less expensive.
It DID get cold here, but not too bad. It was just in the single digits, but that's cold for Nashville! (And for me).
@SWEETIEPIE: Yeah, I think you will have to wait at least a week. So yours was a FET? I guess you couldn't "test" the HPT to see when the HSG gets out of your system then?
BLUESTRIPED BEE: I hope this IUI is your BFP!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Shutterbug: Yeah, this is the same man that asked me yesterday after transfer "which uterus" they put the embryo into. I asked him how many uteri he thought I had. He said he had no idea. Hahahahahaha.
So I'm clearly not taking POAS advice from him.
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@SweetiePie: ha! That reminds me. Little P was delivered through a C-Section and Mr. P made a comment recently about him going through the "birth canal." I had some explaining to do and then he felt embarrassed.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Its probably exactly what you're thinking it is. Hahahaha. Its an enema. With coffee. i.e. they put a tube in their butt and fill it with coffee.
And, because I'm a wealth of knowledge due to the quality tv programs I watch - a QQQ implant is as heavy as a car tire. Each. So...you can imagine. Here is what she looks like with LLL...a QQQ is double the size!
http://www.thewrap.com/strange-addiction-plastic-surgery-obsessed-lacey-isnt-rocking-natural-look-exclusive-video/
Needless to say, she has yet to find a doctor who will give her a QQQ
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@SweetiePie: You know, they're actually a lot smaller than I thought they'd be.
I can't lift a car tire, and can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to have two of them permanently attached to my upper half.
ETA: I mean I *can* lift one, but I'm not juggling them or anything. Or like, holding one up with one finger!
