I can't believe it's May already!
The big thing for us in May is that they're breaking ground this month for our house and we have to have everything picked out and finalized by the end of the month. I feel like I need to spend hours on Pinterest to figure out what we should get.
No IF updates. I wrote a post that I'm feeling kind of down and frustrated with everything right now. I need to make an appointment but my doctor is only available Mon-Thu 8-2 and I already need to take time off work for 9 house apppointments so I might have to wait until next month... or the month after that.

Just my RE appt May 20th!! Today marks CD20... Yesterday DH told me we need a get away and we are in the works to get out of dodge in June for his 30th. Thinking somewhere warm!! (We have the cruise still in November). Any ideas? Florida? Cali? Arizona?
Just a waiting game from here....

@mrs bunchy: That's so exciting that your appointment is coming up, the next 3 weeks will go by fast. Any of those options sound great, anywhere with warmth sounds great actually!

It's still cold and miserable here! It was 45 deg and raining this morning when I came into work!
Just a natural cycle for me this month while DH is out of town. I O'd my usual non drugged time around CD 25-28. I tried to temp and missed a few days so I'm not sure. This leads me to wonder if I should try a natural cycle IUI or continue to take meds to help things out. Is there any pros/cons to either? Normally, I'm totally anti med (I barely even take an Advil), but we've done 5 (not including the 2 90 day cycles) natural cycles and while that's not much on it's own, it didn't work and I just don't have the patience to wait upwards of 50 days a try anymore. Aside from speeding up cycles, is egg quality different? Lining? Is there a "better" method?

@alohaorchid: exciting! building a house is a lot of work, but i'm sure it will be so worth it in the end to have everything the way you want! hope it goes smoothy for you
@mrs bunchy: vacation planning is always fun! we went to vegas for our 30th birthdays (we're 11 days apart), it was great, but i'm sure in june it would be crazy hot. are you beach people, hiking people or city people?
i updated yesterday, but my tentative surgery date the may 16th for uterine septum removal, 2 months on bc after to recover, then we'll start a medicated IUI cycle. mr. bird is at an interview right now, fingers crossed it's going well!

It will be a beautiful and hot 80 degrees today. It doesn't hit 80 often here. I'll take it! Actually hitting 80 for more than 3 days is considered a heat wave. Yesterday was in the 70s so not heat wave for us. AC is not common here so we got all the fans running.
Updates: still holding steady at CD4 because of my BCP.
My SHG is next Monday to look for the polyp.

@alohaorchid: you'll have to share pictures! That sounds like so much fun.
@PurplePumps: I have no idea. I only did natural IUI cycles because I ovulate on my own.

You guys already know the exciting thing happening in May for me - the FET.
My first appointment is tomorrow at 8:45 for an ultrasound and blood work. If everything is quiet I'll be given the ok to start Lupron. It should be, I've been on the pill for two months almost. FETs are so much easier because I have one appointment a week instead on one every couple of days. I'm going to try very hard to stay positive this month and enjoy the process....as much as you can enjoy needle sticks and vaginal ultrasounds.

@mrs. bird: we do it all !!! We live near Chicago- so we can get our city fix whenever, vacation in utah 2x a year and get our hike on, and get away to Florida 1x a year for the beach. So now it's just the teeter of which we want to do this time! This was so last minute for us, but with DH and his new job, I just know he wants a break!!
Anyone been to South Carolina?
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@mrs bunchy: tons if times! I grew up in Georgia. Charleston is a great place to visit.

CD19 here...and looking forward to my appt in 2 weeks. Really curious about what she's going to say (I have a feeling that in other parts of the country, I might have been managed more aggressively during my medicated IUI's...but oh well)...
@mrs bunchy: Beach, perhaps? NC Outer Banks (esp Ocracoke Island) is low-key and fun... Ditto @Leialou...I have friends who rave about SC (low country?)...
@PurplePumps: I think medicated cycles are to ensure that you ovulate and to improve egg quality...sometimes to cause "controlled hyperstimulation" (so that you release multiple eggs during a cycle). I think continuing to take meds does boost your chances vs. natural cycle IUI...
It has been chilly (50's) here for the last few days...and over the weekend, it's going to get up in the 80's! Feels a little extreme...

@Leialou: Still excited for you! Hoping for a good report tomorrow!

@alohaorchid: SO exciting building a house! That is a dream of ours, so fun to have more control of the outcome!
@mrs bunchy: I say FL It is beautiful here!!! Naples on the west coast is so pretty and relaxing, Key West is a ball of fun too!!!!!
@PurplePumps: I know that clomid can actually make lining worse for some....I am not sure of the quality of eggs and such, maybe the fact that you are monitored more on meds so the timing might be a little better?! Best of luck to you!!!!!!
@bluestriped bee: Bst of luck with your procedure, praying no polyp
@Leialou: I will be praying for you
@mrs. bird: fingers and toes crossed for DH
@FliegepilzHut: hope it goes well, where are you living?
Update: Had u/s today saw a beautiful heart beat We are over the moon, looking at 7weeks 2days due 12/17
Thanking God today more than ever!!!! Thank you ladies for constant prayers and thoughts!!!!!

@FaithFertility: that's great news! I'm so happy and excited for you!!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Leialou: I was skeptial about Clomid at first too since I do ovulate on my own, though my RE said my cycles were on the boarder of too long since the lining quality could start to decline.
@FliegepilzHut: I think so too, if even just to increase the number of times we can even try.
@FaithFertility: Congrats! Thats such wonderful news!
I read that about Clomid too, I'm going to switch to Femera (4 failed Clomid now, so I'm kind of giving up on that) next cycle since I believe it has less of an effect on the lining... though I wish I understood what the exact difference was since I thought both were supposed to do the same thing by forcing your body to create more hormones. Just that one does it by blocking receptors and the other by actually suppressing the creation of the hormones so that it works overtime. Next result though is more hormones etiher way right?

Nothing exciting going on in May. Tho I do get to go to IKEA this weekend to get some stuff for my reading room, I'm super excited about that!
As far as updates go we have a WTF appointment with our RE next Wednesday. After talking with DH last night (he's away for work training, so that has added a new level of suck to things), I think we are going to push for a urologist referal to make sure there is no physical or hormonal reasons for the low morphology. For the next several months we can try to work on his numbers and save for IVF w/ ICSI and if by August his numbers aren't better, we will probably do IVF then.
***Update, WTF appointment Wednesday, 5/7
@alohaorchid: Building a house is sooo fun, but sooo stressful. I'm sure you'll get everything picked out. And share what it looks like once you're done.
@mrs bunchy: A getaway is SO needed, my vote would be for Florida, maybe the Keys?
@PurplePumps: I think the benefit of medicated cycles is that it helps speed things up and create a better timing, also egg quality might be better because the meds can help you ovulate stronger.
@bluestriped bee: A little jealous of your 80 degrees but I'm sure it's going to be hot here soon.
@Leialou: I'm really hoping this FET works out! You are in my thoughts.
@FliegepilzHut: Do you want things to be more aggresive? You can always advocate that for yourself if you feel it's necessary.
@FaithFertility: This makes me so happy!!! So, so happy for you. I hope we all can join you soon.

My exciting "thing" this month is paying off my student loan that had the worst interest rate of the bunch! Woo hoo!
No updates this week. My ultrasound is on Monday, my HSG is next Friday.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@MrsTal: I think it's a good idea to see if you can find a reason for his low morphology. DH had an ultrasound, physical exam, blood drawn to check his hormone levels and a genetic test. The genetic test is what gave us our answer.

@alohaorchid: I would love to be able to build one day. Congrats on breaking ground!
@mrs bunchy: My vote goes to Arizona. I've never been, but it's on my list of places to vacation!
@PurplePumps: Still cold and miserable where I live, too. Where is spring!?
@mrs. bird: Wishing your husband luck on his interview! I really hope you can keep your surgery appointment!
@bluestriped bee: Again, very jealous of the bees who are having great weather. Hope your SHG goes well!
@Leialou: Sending you all the in the world! I hope this FET is it for you!
@FliegepilzHut: Remind me what your appointment is for? I have such a bad memory, especially since I've been swamped at work and have been seriously skimming this thread.
@FaithFertility: So happy to hear the pregnancy is progressing well so far
@MrsTal: I missed commenting before about your DH's new SA results. Sorry to hear the morphology is the same, but it sounds like you have a good plan for the next few months!
Think I caught everyone!

@Leialou: The more I think about it the more I think it's a good idea. At first I was chomping at the bit to start IVF, because I'm just ready to have a baby, but once I thought on it a little more, there could definitely be a reason that this is happening and we should at least give it a shot. Was your DH stuff covered by insurance? That's a worry of mine, since nothing else has been covered.

Nothing really exciting happening this month. I'm looking for a new job and that process is exhausting! Hopefully I find one soon, because I cannot stand my current job.
IF updates - I got the results back from my pelvic u/s. I have a small fibroid which they said they're not worried about. They also said I have a thickening of my lining, which they suspect is caused by a polyp. So they're going to schedule a hysteroscopy to evaluate it and remove it.

@mrs. bird: I missed that Mr. Bird has an interview today! FX for him!
@doxielove: That's awesome about your student loan! I would love to get one of those taken care of someday.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@MrsTal: it was. All of our diagnostic testing has been covered. No treatments are covered though.
clementine / 901 posts
@Leialou: Our insurance says that diagnostics is covered but once you are diagnosised they won't cover anything else, so it probably won't be covered.
@Warbler: I hope you find a new job soon! The job hunt process is so stressful, as is an unhappy work environment.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@MrsTal: it's so frustrating isn't it? I hate thinking about how much money we've spent trying to have a baby.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsTal: I think it is a god idea to go get those things @Leialou: stated so many tests but hopefully they lead to answers!!!!!

I went in today... Had to speak with the RE first about the outstanding genetic testing issues going on. If DH's results aren't back by the time I'm ready for IUI, we may have to cancel things altogether. And the RE mentioned our options if DH happens to be a carrier - basically IVF. So it's been a lot for me to take in... I have a couple follicles, largest is 13mm right now. They're running blood work and likely having me come back on Monday. Now hurry up geneticist...

@alohaorchid: That's so exciting with the house!!
@mrs bunchy: You're right in the middle of both coasts so you have tons of options! Anywhere you haven't been that you're thinking of? I saw you mentioned SC... Never been so can't help there!
@Leialou: Excited for you this month!!
@FaithFertility: OMG, heart beat already?! I feel like you just found out! Man, time flies...
eggplant / 11861 posts
@LindsayInNY: ohhhh man that is a lot what is he being tested for / why? Sorry if I missed that part!!!!! I pray you get thoae results!!!!

@Leialou: exciting month for you! Fingers crossed for a February baby!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@MrsTal: That sounds like a really good plan! FX that they find something fixable...but if not, there's always ICSI!
@FaithFertility: YAY for a good US!!! I'm in NW Arkansas, which is a little way from any IVF center (I may actually do satellite with a clinic >5 hours away...not the closest, but the one for which I have the strongest personal recommendation and which arguably has the best stats.)
@PurplePumps: I think you're right that those are two different means to the same end. Maybe one tends to work better depending on age, IF diagnosis....?
@doxielove: That is exciting! Good luck with your continuing work-up! My appt is my first real RE appt...and an IVF referral. I'm not sure if the dr. will recommend IVF or not (unexplained with normal labs, imaging, cycles; "weird" SA abnormality -- not counts, morphology, or motility)... Part of me wants to go ahead...and part of me thinks that it should be easier than this. Expecting to undergo an eventual SHG b/c of a prior m/c, D+C.
@Warbler: Good luck with your hysteroscopy.
@Leialou: It is just unreal how pretty much no one has IF coverage in this country!

Hooray for May! Somehow starting a new month feels refreshing to me and has given me a boost.
@alohaorchid: how is house stuff going? Have you enjoyed the process so far? I'm sorry you're frustrated. Maybe with all the house stuff going on, it will be a good thing to wait another month.
@Mrs Bunchy:Oh, I love California. I would like to explore the southern part. I like to eat, and there are so many options there! I also love Big Sur, but that isn't always warm. I also love my state of Virginia--so much to do here.
@PurplePumps: I hope it warms up for you soon! The sun is out after days of rain, and it has definitely lifted my spirits. For me, the meds have helped to thicken my lining, but that was an issue for me to begin with. I've heard it can also help increase the quality of the egg, but I don't know for a fact if that is true. Can you talk to your doctor about it?
@Mrs. Bird: hi! Does Mr. Bird get nervous for interviews?
@Bluestriped Bee: Enjoy the heat! Holding steady can be a good thing in this IF game. How are you feeling?
@Leialou: wow, it seems like just yesterday you were in the "hanging out" category, and now things are really zipping along. How are you doing?
@Fliegepilzhut: your handle is fun to type! Is your appointment with a new doctor?
@faithfertility: So happy to hear that good update. Have you told anyone in "real life" yet?
@MrsTal: IKEA is definitely exciting! I've only been once and was totally overwhelmed. What does your reading room look like? I think you have a good plan there, and it's good to get a second opinion on things.
@DoxieLove: girl, pop some bubbles and celebrate. That's a huge thing. A weight off the shoulders for sure!
@Warbler: job searching is the pits. So discouraging. But when you find the right job, it's so great. What field are you in? Do you know when you'll have you hysteroscopy?
@LindsayinNY: I hope everything lines up to work out. When are you supposed to hear from the geneticist? How does IVF work around genetic issues?

Here are my positives:
-May is our anniversary month. Last year, we went to the city and ate a very fancy dinner. This year, I let my husband pick out what we should do, so we'll be camping. We may try bringing our dog with us for the first time.
-I picked up another consultant gig and am happy to be billing lot of hours!
-The sun is out and the weekend is near.
***My update: I triggered last night, and it was the first time I didn't mess up the order of things! IUI tomorrow at 10:00.
