@CatchAFallingStar: I think if everything works out for all of us . . . you, @Kelli_Deluxe and I will be due around the same date. I've had 4 chemicals before so I'm pretty nervous, I'll be able to relax more if I get a good second beta (Friday).

@Happygal: I've been debating the surgery for a long time. I don't have a good feeling either way about it.
@mrs. bird: Our current RE is a second opinion, our first never even tested morphology and wanted us to do 3 clomid cycles w/ TI, 3 iuis and then talk about options. Ugh, this sucks.
@owlteach: I hate money. It sucks. If I ever win the lottery I'm spreading it around to the IF ladies.
@FliegepilzHut: I'm just so terrified of making the wrong decision but our doctor said we provably won't know until we make the decision and have hindsight. And I feel the same way about trying these things over and over again, it doesn't seem like it will work if regular TI hasn't the last two years. And we have talked about taking out a loan for it but we have been trying to become debt free which is sort of counterintuitive to IF, but we might end up doing it.
@lazypanda: We are actually working on a pro/con list

@MrsTal: Your doctor sounds like a (perhaps frustratingly) wise man! I wish it were easier to be zen about all this, to have faith that things were going to work themselves out exactly as they should. Getting to the other side of IF is something like equal parts good medicine, good decisions, and good luck... Sounds like you and DH are on the right track! to you both and !!!

@owlteach: right back at ya, hun! so glad you, too, are blessed with a generous mama you're right, it probably does make them feel good to be able to offer some help
@MrsTal: what?!? the first RE never even did a complete SA?? that's insane, how frustrating! maybe REs in areas where IF coverage doesn't exist they move at a slower pace, but three months of clomid & TI, another three of clomid & IUI, then moving on to see other options seems like a loooooong time to be sticking to one med (how many cycles can you take clomid? isn't there a lifetime limit? and after 6 months on it, i'd imagine your lining would be shot ). after all our initial testing, at the meeting to go over the findings, we were offered the option of just going right for IVF after i recover from surgery. REs here move fast, that was faster tan i was comfortable with, but i'm glad we didn't have an RE that moved as slowly as your first one! glad you left that guy! what does your husband think? does he have any thoughts on how he'd like to proceed?
clementine / 901 posts
@mrs. bird: I know! When I called the first RE to ask they said they usually don't test morphology if the other numbers are good. Our first RE was very old school, our new doctor is more progressive and he's very willing to let us move to IVF. DH and I talked last night and he wants to keep trying naturally while we save for a few months/ apply for grants etc. He said if we had the money we would do ivf now.

just opened the mail and i am SOOOOOOOO glad we COBRAed! they did cancel our ins retroactively, we would have owed for everything from the 10th of april on even though i kept checking with the ins & it was current. i think my ultrasound alone was $1,300! phew! paying cobra sucks, but we would have had to pay for all those bills anyway.
surgery date has been confirmed! **pre-op check in appt wednesday 5/14** to go over the surgery & my instructions for before & after. as foolish as it sounds, the IV is the part i'm most anxious about, i'm going to see what i can take prior to arriving or upon arrival but prior to the IV being placed. i'd rather have no recollection of the entire day. and on a happy note: i'm meeting with someone at school tomorrow so hopefully i can register for my classes

Thanks all for the words of wisdom and encouragement!
@bluestriped bee: Great to hear your SHG was all clear!
@FliegepilzHut: I suffer from very painful periods. About 50% of the time, my flow is very heavy, too. (Unlike this cycle, where I only had 3 real days of flow - weird!) My doctor suspects endometriosis but seems hesitant to do a lap (we'll discuss that more after my HSG results). I like that he's very minimally invasive. I definitely click with his approach to medicine in general.
@alohaorchid: Ugh, I'm really not sure about your time question. I feel like no matter what your age, you'll get pressure from both directions. I know I do! Some people say, "what are you waiting for, you don't want to be an old mom!" and others say, "omg, you're so young, don't have babies yet." Damned if you do, damned if you don't, lol.
@Kelli_Deluxe: Thanks for the suggestion. I have come across 1 doctor in my area who does specialize in IF but isn't an RE. I have wavered on switching practices, though. If the time comes where I feel my current doctor isn't really cutting it, I'm not afraid to get a 2nd opinion elsewhere!
@mrs. bird: You definitely had a tough decision to make. $1500/month IS a lot, but hopefully getting the surgery over with will give you peace of mind that is priceless!
@MrsTal: No advice about the morphology issues, just hugs!
@Happygal: My husband is more focused on saving for a house than TTC *sigh* He's indifferent and is sort of letting me take the reins as far as what direction we go in as far as TTC. Don't get me wrong, he's totally supportive! And I agree with you. I WANT to know what we're working with so that if we do come across some extra money in the next few years, we'll be able to pursue treatments (if that's what it comes down to).
Aaaaaand I've spent all morning trying to catch up on HB. Back to work! Going in for a pregnancy test over my lunch hour to make sure I'm not KU for my HSG tomorrow. Surprisingly, I'm not nervous at all! Bring on the results!

@Happygal: I'm so down for a "I'm spinning out into crazy IF orbit" party anytime. Hotline or not, we can still have a party.
@MrsTal: I have no clue what scale was used to measure my DH's morph issue. I'm hoping to find out on Tuesday!! And sorry your first IUI didn't work. It sounds like you have a good game plan, though, with paying for IVF out of pocket. You're awesome!
@EmilyE: HelloBee certainly prevents me from getting much done. Its awful but embarrassingly true.
@owlteach: Hi lady! Thanks for the welcome. I remember you, too! I'm on CD2 of my 13th cycle! Yikes! How'd I end up here? Well, "morphology" is probably the answer to that question. I'm agitated that we are all on the IF thread, but I'm hopeful we all get to our happy ending soon enough.
@lazypanda: and @FliegepilzHut: Thanks for the welcome!
@bhbee: I'm really hoping you get good test results tomorrow!
@LindsayInNY: I'm so glad you are in the TWW!!
@mrs. bird: I'm so glad you got your insurance situation settled and your surgery scheduled! I feel you on the IV anxiety. I once had to have one placed in the top of my hand. I was mortified and nearly hyperventilating. They offered to give me something to help with the pain of the IV and, well, that ended up being a SHOT to numb my hand. A shot in my hand! I died... but actually not... I survived. You will, too! Be strong!
@doxielove: Its so awesome you are getting your HSG this week. I'm jealous. I've heard about quite a few people who get pregnant the cycle after the HSG. Wouldn't that be just amazing???

So after reading all over HelloBee about morphology issues, I decided to buy DH the following: Fertility Blend for Men from GNC, a new multi-vitamin and a fast absorbing CoQ10. It seems like those things help the sperm. Ugh, I'm praying they do!!!
Anyone have any experience with any of these vitamins/ supplements?
pear / 1556 posts
@MrsMcD: I can't speak to the morphology, but DH's numbers are always better in general when he is taking Fertility Blend for Men. I contacted the company when he started taking them, and they recommended that he not take a multi on top of it, but I don't know that it would do any harm. I think Fertility Blend is great.

@Sunshine1810: Oh interesting!!!!!!!! Thanks for telling me that. Maybe Fertility Blend is, itself, a multi-vitamin?? Can you please tell me if your husband takes/took 2 or 4 pills a day?

@MrsMcD: So I am an email hoarder and still had this email from 2011...(don't judge ):

to me
Hello:
Thanks for contacting us with your question. We recommend taking FertilityBlend for Men by itself and not with a multivitamin since FertilityBlend already contains many of the ingredients that are found in a multivitamin.
Please let me know if you have any other questions that I may assist you with.
Sincerely,
Jackie Gouvea Suzuki

@MrsMcD: Haha you're welcome! Good luck!!! Also, make sure your DH takes them with food! My DH decided to start taking them on an empty stomach at first...not a good idea...
