@Rainbow Sprinkles: if your two hour test is like the one we have in New Zealand then the first blood test they do is fasting glucose -hence no eating for twelve hours.
When I did my one hour test the tech was impressed that I'd had my low gi porridge for breakfast!

@blackbird: yeah, so weird, especially since that was a totally normal breakfast for me, and I generally eat pretty healthy. When I talked to the Dr about it he said it's common for food to me with the results even if high protein, but it doesn't for everyone, they do not require fasting for the one hour.

I had an English muffin with peanut butter and jelly and I passed.

I ate a blueberry scone and did not pass. I didnt mean to eat something so sugary but I was starving and had nothing else. I had to go back for the 3 hour test and passed that one.

Yeah I'm in camp of eating what you normally eat. You don't want to try and beat the test falsey. So if you're eating a normal breakfast for you that's perfect
My MFM uses a 10 point stricter cutoff. I did the early screen at 12w and passed but I have it again next appt at 24. I'm kinda counting on having it cause I barely i passed.
What sucks is I have a scan before the appt and I tend to have a sugary drink for that becasuse I have the most stubborn baby in the universe. But that's not a regular thing but i def don't want to add that the day I test. I wish I could eat like 2 big buttery syrupy pancakes or something and not that God awful drink. The 3hr with twice as much.. Omg noooo

@BabyPenguinXO: haha right. PANCAKES! They sound much better than glucola. blechhhh. I didn't have any juice or soda before my last scan and the tech had to poke the baby awake a few times. I think the drink would've made me thrown up at 12 weeks. I was still on a strict diet of crackers and flavored (sugared) pelligrino sodas.

I didn't realize they were going to give me the 1 hour test early at my 9 week appointment due to family history. So I went through the drive through and ate lunch on my way to the doctor's office. I would have chosen something different had I known about the test. I definitely would not have had a sweet tea! Thankfully I still passed though.

My midwives told me not to fast. I was supposed to have my test at 11am, so I ate 2 eggs and a piece of sausage at 8am. Then my test was put off a couple of hours (grrrrr!!), so I ended up eating some tuna salad at 11am. I passed the test! I also got really light-headed and nauseous and had to lie down in the doctor's office.

I ate cereal with milk last time in the morning, then fasted for just 3 hours before the test--and passed.

The nurse practitioner I saw today was like "oh no big deal" when i told her i ate. See?! All over the place! And it turns out the drink didn't make me sick this time. It had to have been the empty stomach+fasting combo last time. I was totally unphased (if not on a bit of a sugar high) after I had it. I feel off anyways since i have yet another cold, but...*shrug*

@BabyPenguinXO: 24 hours. if i don't get a call by lunch tomorrow, "no news is good news" is what I was told!

@blackbird: good luck! My results were in at the end of the day I think!

@BabyPenguinXO: @dc yoga bee: Wow that's quick! I'm totally chill about this test, though. I have zero signs of it, didn't have it last time, and even if i DO have it, the way i eat now is pretty close to what I would have to eat I'd be most bummed that i can't have some of E's birthday cake in April, LOL

I had mine a few weeks ago, and ate cheese about 1.5 hrs beforehand. My test was first thing in the morning, and I don't eat eggs, so I wanted something with a decent amount of protein in it, but little to no carbs/sugar. I passed my test!
