I love the sentimental value of my e-ring so I don't plan on ever upgrading it. I'll take an additional bigger rock though, any day

Nope! I love it way too much I did tell DH I wouldn't mind adding another band to the other side though lol
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Nope. It was my Grandmother's and it's perfect as-is. Someday I may have to replace the band if I ever have to get it resized again but I would keep the setting, if at all possible and just have them rebuild the band.

I love my ring....and I'm still anxiously awaiting the day when the damn thing fits again!!!
nectarine / 2636 posts
Nope. I love my set. The only thing I would do is add another band to the other side so it's "even." lol. I really want a right hand ring though! Something without a center stone,so it doesn't compete, but I'll have extra sparkly on my hands.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Nope I love it. I also don't think I need a bigger diamond, I love the size I have now. Way bigger then I thought I would ever get.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
I wouldn't say I'd "upgrade," we have talked about having my diamond set back into a plain solitare band (vs. the pave band it's in now). I love the diamond and pave wedding band, but I'm not in lovelove with the e-ring setting though (it's sooo high and gets caught on everything!).
grapefruit / 4213 posts
DH did an amazing job picking out the stones and setting of my ring and it's more than I expected. I wouldn't upgrade it at all.
bananas / 9628 posts
Hmmmm.... Tough one! I think if I could take out my center stone & replace it with a larger one (mine is just shy of a carat & I think the setting would look better with >1.5) & save the original stone to hand down to a LO in the future I would. But I don't see spending more money on rings as a priority for us, especially since I only wear my wedding band
pomelo / 5524 posts
I don't think so...I love my ring as is...I wouldn't mind an anniversary band though for the other side!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Nope!! I love mine and I get compliments on it a lot. We went with a sapphire as the main stone, and it's gorgeous. The only thing I would 'upgrade' would be my wedding band. Since my ring isn't an e-ring, the wedding band doesn't fit snug against it, and some day I'd like to get one made to fit.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
Nope! Only because DH customized it and it means a lot to me
Now an additional band later down the road...not opposed!
bananas / 9628 posts
@ms.janedoe: mine does the same! And I knocked 2 pave stones out, which is why I don't wear it now. I love my pave wedding band though & wear it all the time! I do love my e ring, I'm just too rough to wear it
pomelo / 5257 posts
I would for sure take a second e-ring to switch out sometimes with my current one, haha. I don't think I would ever sell my stone, but I have an emerald cut solitaire and DH has talked about adding triangular side stones someday. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea but I'd have to think about it!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I love my center stone but I wouldn't mind a new setting! Maybe a 6 prong setting!
squash / 13764 posts
I wouldn't want a bigger center stone, but I wouldn't mind changing the channel set diamonds on the band to pave style...but I love it as it is and I know DH would be hurt, so it stays as is
honeydew / 7589 posts
No way. I adore my ring (it's an antique) and the fact that it was very inexpensive makes me like it even better.
persimmon / 1035 posts
i was planning to change my setting to a plain solitaire.....and then i lost my entire e-ring i am still hopeful i will find it eventually as when i lost it, i was sure i hadn't left our apt in 2 days so it has to be here somewhere. If when we move in a couple of years and it is never found, i guess we will talk about getting a new one and i would get a bigger diamond from when we got engaged simply because i would like a slightly bigger one (like 0.5 up from 0.25) and DH couldn't afford anything bigger at the time we got engaged but now we could.
eta: if i do get a new one, i would get the same shape as my old one because i am/was very sentimentally attached to it.
pomegranate / 3244 posts
I love my ring, it is unique and I have never seen one like it! I would change the setting/stone though, it is always getting caught on things.
I don't have a wedding band, I would love to get one! My ring is difficult and nothing goes with it, so maybe a nice band that I can wear on days I dont want to wear the ering
coconut / 8854 posts
Nope, never. I'm not a person that needs a huge diamond. I think mine is really big! (I think the center is 1/2 carat) I would never want anything bigger than that. I don't like being flashy
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@mrs. bird: Yesyesyes. I feel so awful, like, it's the biggest "first world problem" ever, but I can't help it!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
Nope! My DH put a lot of time into designing it and having it made. I think he would be really upset. And I love it.
pomelo / 5000 posts
I would like to get a new one altogether. My e-ring was passed down from a family member, and we didn't know just how large it was going to be. I wear little to no jewelry to begin with. The ring gets a big reaction, and I feel uncomfortable about it. It's just been sitting at the bank since our wedding day. If we ever get organized about it, I'd like to sell it, invest most of the money, and pick out a ring together.
bananas / 9628 posts
@ms.janedoe: I ripped out so much hair with it! We had it changed to a 6 prong because I was afraid of losing the center stone, but man that puppy did some damage to my hair trying to wash it! oh woe is me!
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
haah yeah. I started off with a 3 stone e-ring. we exchanged it for a solitaire
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
I would. To me the ring itself isn't the sentimental part. It's the fact that we are married. DH picked it out without having asked my opinion, and it's not my style. I like it, but I have no issues upgrading/changing/etc. We have more important things to spend money on, so it'll never happen.
nectarine / 2063 posts
I'm to sentimental to actually do anything to it. BUT if I wasnt I would get a different setting. I have 4 smaller diamonds, two on each side of my center stone, I would either make those earings & leave the center stone solo, or switch them out for two larger stones instead of 4 small stones. or add more to surround the center stone. The 4 small stones bug me but not enough to actually change it. Crazy part is I even helped dh pick it out. It was simular to the fancy one I wanted but the stones were set in better. Because I'm in healthcare the jewler recommended this one.
bananas / 9118 posts
No, never! I had mine planned for function and sentimentality, it's smaller, but that doesn't bother me.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
The only thing I would like to change about my e-ring is the material of the band. It's white gold and therefore is starting to appear yellow. My wedding band is platinum, so I'd love to change out my e-ring band to be platinum as well. I'm thinking maybe I can convince Hubs to let me change it for our 5-year anniversary or something.
pomegranate / 3204 posts
@MrsTiz: same here! DH picked it out without me knowing. I probably would have picked something else out. I would upgrade if it was financially possible.
pineapple / 12526 posts
I wouldn't mind upgrading the setting, but I'd keep my diamond. I have a very plain band and I'd love a cool antique-looking or twisty one.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
I've already re-set my set twice!!! Went from baguette sidestones to a solitaire (and re-set the baguettes into my wedding ring, which went from a 3 to a 5 stone baguette band) then re-set the solitaire into a 3 stone. Opposite of what @chopsuey119 did
Since I kind of chose my original setting and really rushed into it, it was a bit sad to lose the sentimental value of that being the ring Wagon Sr. proposed with, but I was never happy with my original set. My wedding band was made later and never sat flush to my e-ring. My 5 stone baguette band is my dream wedding ring and I will never re-set that. Wagon Sr. and I designed my 3 stone together (chose the side stones, knife edge band, and higher basket setting so that it would sit flush to my wedding ring) and I am absolutely head over heels for it. I don't think I would ever re-set it since this now has a lot of sentimental value...!
My center stone is still the original center stone Wagon Sr. picked out for my e-ring though At least that's the same! I messed it all up by trying to choose everything else myself. Maybe one day I will upgrade the center stone but I will keep it to pass down someday!
watermelon / 14206 posts
I don't have one! Just a wedding ring that was dh's grandmothers. Its got pretty little diamonds in it though so it does double duty.
So yeah...I'd upgrade from nothing lol. Maybe a blue sapphire band to go with the diamond one
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Nope! Hubby peresonally designed it and he did a pretty good job!
@2PeasinaPod: @sorrycharlie: ditto on an anniversary ring!
coconut / 8861 posts
I love my princess cut solitaire ring. It's very me. My diamond is a nice size too. Sometimes I wish that I would have researched stones more before going with a princess cut. Emerald and asscher cuts have caught my eye lately. I have a plain wedding band. We've talked about getting a diamond anniversary band in the future.
pomelo / 5093 posts
No, I love my ring. I have a small ruby stone in this really interesting setting. It was exactly what I wanted - flat, interesting and unique, not so expensive that I'd worry about it, and just utterly beautiful. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
That being said, while I was pregnant and my rings got too big, I wore a family ring that was a diamond in a platinum setting, and I was a little sad to give that up. But this ring has all the meaning, and that mattered more.
grapefruit / 4554 posts
Never. My center diamond was DH's grandmothers and it is sucha pretty ring/setting.
