No, I love my e-ring and my wedding ring. The center stone was bigger than I was expecting anyway, and the setting even prettier than I expected, so no complaints there, plus theirs the sentimentality. I wouldn't even want another band to go on top, because both of the bands are a little thick anyway and it would be too much. I do want to get them engraved though-- I wanted to before the wedding and never got around to it. When they get too tight during pregnancy, I think I will do it then.
Therefore, I'll just have to get more diamond earrings, necklaces, bracelets... No qualms about that!

I love my e-ring, but would consider upgrading my wedding band one day. I have just a solid white gold band and I'd like to add a semi-eternity band to the mix one day.

I love my wedding set sooooo much but I wouldn't turn down a bigger rock or a different cut (like a cushion or am emerald).

It took DH a long time to find my stone (asscher) with all the specs we wanted so I wouldn't exchange the diamond. I did end up settling for a setting that's not really me - more DH's style. So I would be open to upgrading the setting some day. It's a platinum solitaire but the classic setting has definitely grown on me over the years and my added stacking band really made a difference!

I would because the one I have now isn't my original and I never wear it. I could never change my band but I don't think I would hesitate to upgrade my e-ring.

In some ways I can't imagine changing my ring because it's got so much sentimental value. It was my grandmother's and it's the ring DH proposed with. And it's very pretty. But...sometimes I'd like a bigger center stone with a halo.

Nope, I actually wan to downgrade mine! I never wear it, I want just a plain band with an inscription and maybe an inset diamond. Right now I wear a $9 target silver band instead if my wedding set. I'm just not a big jewelry person so wearing the bling makes me feel uncomfortable.

Nope, DH got me exactly what I wanted and the center stone was the largest size for the setting. My ring set is gorgeous.
If I could do it all over again I would skip the e-ring entirely and just opt for a larger wedding band. Until I put on the band I never dreamed how much more important or sentimental the band would be for me than the e-ring.

I have a mess of a ring situation that I need to clean up, so yes. I love my center stone and that is staying, but the setting DH proposed with broke, so I 'upgraded' to my dream halo setting, which I now loathe for many reasons. So I'm actually going to downgrade to a platinum solitare setting soon and have an eternity band made to go with it. It's been a stressful and expensive road, which is why I really wish we had spent more time and money on my original setting and wedding band in the first place so I wouldn't have to go through all this!

My e-ring will never change. I love everything about it. Especially the heirloom stone. Now. My wedding band? I cant wait to upgrade that! My e-ring didn't come with a matching wedding band so we had to search for a best match since we couldn't afford the custom match. Its been a pain. I want to get the custom match one day!

No, to me it represents a time and place in our relationship.

@ModernDaisy: What do you not like about your halo setting? I don't have one (solitaire set in a pave half eternity band), but I have always liked them!
nectarine / 2631 posts
I would upgrade my center stone- but keep the one DH proposed with and turn it into a necklace!

I love my ring right now and am still amazed by its beauty. (I recently just got it sized down .75 to get it to fit me!)
But I cant say that 15 years from now I would abhor the idea of getting a 2-carat rock if we have the money.

@mrsjyw: I think that's the only think I would change on mine. I actually went with a smaller center stone because it looked HUGE when I was trying them on. But, once it was paired with my wedding band, it doesn't look nearly as big as it did by itself.
I'm torn between having it upgraded to a bigger stone (eventually) and just leaving it as-is, because it's so sentimental to me.

I did while I was engaged, haha. But now? DH has mentioned doing it again one day (just the stone) but I'd rather go on vacation or something. Plus, it's the one I got married with!

I already did!
I had a halo with a .89ct stone inside and a diamond band. The entire thing was 1.8ct together. At the one year mark, and after we bought our home and figured our finances out, DH upgraded the center stone ONLY to 1.24ct so that we're at a total of 2.2ct. It's still the same ring but bigger center stone & that was pretty much the agreement from the get-go. We picked the ring together, I was more than happy with its size but then DH was like "once we figure out our joint finances, I want to get you your "dream" ring" Now I truly looove my ring. Never will I upgrade. I'm so in obsessed with it!
papaya / 10473 posts
No way. DH had it custom made and put a ridiculous amount of thought into it, even tracking down the jeweler 7 hours away who made my mom's ring and grandmother's ring. I've never seen another one like it
pomegranate / 3809 posts
I don't think I ever could because DH wouldn't be on board with it unless we won a multimillion dollar lotto. But if we did, and I could, I'd definitely want to upgrade to a 2ct in the same setting.

No. It's Dh's great grandma's ring. I would never change it!
nectarine / 2504 posts
I really, really love my ring... It'd be hard for me to part with. I'd take an additional diamond ring any day!!
nectarine / 2152 posts
I would but only if offered a family stone from DH's side (they've got a bunch!). I like my ring fairly well but I'm ridiculously picky about basically everything and there's a few details I'd like to change (possibly go to a halo setting?)...I would not spend $$ on a new diamond though! I rarely wear my ring anyways so it would all probably be kind of a waste regardless.

@MsLipGloss: I actually LOVE halo settings, and even when I tried them on multiple times in the store I was still in love, but when I got it I realized shortly afterwards that it's just not right for me. My finger is a size 3 and my center stone is a 2 carat round diamond, so the halo just looks silly. It's also custom made so it doesn't look as 'clean' as I like my jewelry to look. I don't like how the halo fails to showcase the ideal cut of my diamond, in the solitaire setting it used to blind me, but now it's just dull looking.
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
Nope, I love my solitaire, but I would love a little fancier wedding band DH keeps telling me he's going to upgrade my band. I've also hinted that I want another band for the other side!

For our one year anniversary we changed the setting on my engagement ring so that it could be soldered to my wedding band. We didn't add or upgrade the diamond though, maybe for our 5 or 10 year anniversary.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Nope, but if we had the money, I would love an anniversary band.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
I wouldn't upgrade my e-ring, but I might upgrade my wedding ring - only because we didn't realize when we picked it that my e-ring is 14k gold, and my wedding band is 10k gold...you can totally see the difference between them.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
No, I could never. DH stressed and planned about buying and giving it to me. I think it would really hurt him if I wanted to change it. Plus, a lot of the value is that he gave it to me. Luckily, I love it, so there's no need to make the decision.
