Furnace...at least in this house. It's so much cheaper to run than the AC since it runs on natural gas. AC shoots our utility bill up too high.

We live in a place where we don't have/don't need a/c. But we definitely need heat in the winter!

For my current situation, where the coldest temperature ever recorded was 54 Fahrenheit, and usual night time lows in winter are in the low 70s F, I said air con. But in any climate outside the tropical zone, I think a furnace is far more important than an AC. You can always cool yourself down, but you can only do so much to warm yourself; and also, the extremes are far more drastic on the cold end of the scale than they are on the hot end.

AC!

The AC runs from late April until early November. We only use heat from Mid November until March(at the latest)

I'm in Texas...a/c is non negotiable!!

Heat for me too. We haven't had AC all summer..

Depends on our living situation. We've gone a year without turning on our heat even in subzero temps, but we live on the top floor of a building and were getting heat from other ppl's heat rising to us, granted it was still COLD, but we need AC being on the top because it's so much warmer. If we were in a single family, we could prob get by without AC but we'd def need heat!

live in cold for most of the year, the furance is essential! THOUGH our summers are wretched

AC for sure! The humidity during the summer is brutal. We were actually w/o heat for a couple winters a few years ago before we had Mitsubishi mini splits installed throughout our house. We had some nice heavy duty space heaters & would only heat the rooms we actually used. Honestly couldn't live w/o AC, though!

Ac it's can get really warm in SoCal.

AC! It doesn't get that cold here but it's well over 100 degrees all summer. We need the AC!

Furnace!! We live in an area that gets warm, but hardly anyone has central air. We have central heat, and a window unit we don't use.

Definitely our furnace. I can live with just ceiling fans in the summer if I have to (it's really hot/humid here), but I can't bear to be freezing for any length of time.

I guess furnace is my only option, since we don't have AC. But, that's fairly common in Seattle.

Keep the furnace. I grew up without AC and would have no problem living without it.

Aw man I really can't stand existence without AC. Logically I'd need to choose furnace just to survive the winter.

AC!! It doesn't get super cold but summers (and spring...sometimes even fall) are HOT!

While I dislike being hot, it would be hard to live without a furnace in the winter with 2 kids. We were without power for a week when it was cold (Hurricane Irene) and it was stressful keeping LO warm!
