At my next appointment my doctor mentioned she could scrape my membranes if I wanted. Did you go into labor shortly after doing this or did you just get nothing?!

Had it done twice... and didn't work. Maybe it will for you though. Good luck!

I also had it done twice and nothing happened. That was at 39w5d and 40w5d. DS was just really stubborn and I was induced 10 days past my due date.

I always attributed DD coming at 39 weeks to having my membranes stripped at 37 and 38 weeks, but then I had DS at exactly 39 weeks, too, with an almost identical labor/birth. So now I'm not too sure...
Some of the literature I read while considering the procedure encouraged me that is successful for the majority of people who have it done. I think the success rate was like 60%.

Dang, it seems like it's not such a great turn out after all! I guess I have this week to think about it I want to do it or not. I'd rather go into labor naturally if I could, if I don't I will probably be induced the week after due to my insurance changing right before my due date!

I had it done twice. Had some minor cramping, but it didn't work and I had to get induced.

My sister woke up the day of her 40 week OB appointment and had very light, menstrual-like cramps. During her mid-morning appointment, the doctor stripped her membranes. She was in full-blown labor by evening. She doesn't know whether she would have gone into labor that night naturally or not, but the membrane stripping may have accelerated things. Also, the night before the OB appointment, my sister tried a bunch of old-wives tales, like having sex, eating a bunch of pineapple core, drinking raspberry leaf tea, etc. Something may have worked - or it was just coincidence! Good luck!

I had my membranes stripped in the morning around 10:30 and was crampy all day and in labor by 8pm. DH and I had been walking like crazy for the days leading up to that, I'd been drinking raspberry leaf tea, and I was a day past my due date. So who knows how much of an effect it had.

I didn't work for my first pregnancy, and the first time the doc did it for my second pregnancy it didn't work either. The second time he did it... he went at it full force and I went into labour less than 24 hours later. it's really a 50/50

It definitely sounds like 50/50 to me! I did some research online as well and it sounds like if you are ready then you will go into labor but if not, then you won't! Guess I'll just have to take my chances with it! I'm just not sure it will be worth the pain if it doesn't work...lol

@aMohror: I had it done twice. The first time it made me bleed like crazy for a short while, but didn't work. The second time I'd already been having contractions all morning. Once it was done, they picked up and I was admitted to the hospital probably 3 hours later.

@Mrs. Cat in the Cradle: Boo
I have heard it can take up to 48 hours. Are you having bleeding or cramping? I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

@aMohror: Not as of yet. Random contractions, but nothing worth writing home about.

@Mrs. Cat in the Cradle: Well at least there is still time for you! Please keep me updated if you can

@aMohror: Can do. I at least need another day so I can sit down and write out a blog post about the nursery. Nothing like cutting it super close!

@aMohror: Looks like nothing. It didn't hurt anything, but near 48 hours with no onset of labor.

@Mrs. Cat in the Cradle: That's how I'm looking too, unfortunately! I had absolutely nothing yesterday, I went on a long walk this morning and had a few cramps. I believe I did lose part of my mucus plug this morning though! I know it doesn't mean anything but still, it's something. I have an appointment for tomorrow and Friday to get stretched/stripped again.
