Do you miss it? Especially if you have a much longer commute now?
We currently live in the city but will soon be growing out of our small space so we will likely be moving in 1-2 years. We are torn between staying in the city (ours or another city nearby), or moving to our favorite town in the area, which is an exurb about 20 miles away.
The issue I have is that they are so different that I don't know where we'd be happiest. City life gives us an easy commute, and amenities such as restaurants, shops, and museums, but we'd only be able to afford a condo, and that would require us to go to the very top of our budget. Exurb life would give us long annoying commutes (1-1.5 hrs each way, probably), amenities such as nature trails and farms, and we could go well below our budget and get a beautiful house.
If we move far away, I would probably negotiate to work from home 2-3x per week, but DH would probably only be able to do that 1x per week if at all.
Curious if anyone has made a similar choice in the past and if you are happy or regret it.
