My mom got some pretty serious stretch marks that have never faded. I'm at 33 weeks and haven't gotten any yet. If your mom got them, did you get them too? Or vice versa? I am just waiting for them to make their appearance any day now...but I am holding out the teensiest bit of hope that I'll get lucky!

Yes! All over my body. They've faded a lot though.

@Grizz: My mom says she got a few. I didn't get any.
I chalk it up to luck, torso length, luck, and twice daily rub downs with L'Occitane's Almond Supple Skin Oil.
Oh, and did I mention luck?

Yes, we both did. I have stretch marks from puberty amd they are so faded you can't even see them. I assume my pregnancy ones will do the same. But they don't really bother me for some reason.

My mum got loads and, guess what, at 25 weeks my tummy is already covered in them, despite using stretch mark oil!

My mom did. I got some puberty stretch marks on my hips. So I just assumed I'd get major marks, and get this....twins and not a one.

it's funny, but I don't even know if my mom has stretch marks. She definitely has "mommy tummy" though. Meaning...she's a small and fit lady--probably wears a size 4 or 6--and she works out at the gym like 5 times a week. But my entire life, she's always had this roll of...mushy tummy, I guess you could say, that I didn't realize was from having babies until I got older.
SO I have that to look forward to, either way. My mom also had 6 kids.

@scg00387: does it also have to do with how baby is positioned? I can't find the same diagram online, but at my birthing class, the nurse had a picture of different ways baby can be positioned inside and the woman who had a transverse baby's bump was SO FAR out there....she had to have had stretch marks.
I think it's just genetics and luck. =)

My mom has tons (though she had 5 kids). I made it to 38 weeks and thought I might be in the clear, but they showed up at 38.5 weeks in relatively full force. They've faded quite a bit at 4 months postpartum though.

My mom has some crazy stretch marks from her three kids (me in the middle!) so I thought I was doomed for stretch marks, but I lucked out! Not a single one and even though I've read lotion makes no difference, I did (and will again for next) slather on 2 pumps of Vaseline Intensive Care on my belly throughout pregnancy. If nothing else, it helped with the itchiness of stretching skin.

My mom didn't get any after 3 kids, so I thought I was in the clear. Especially when I reached 33 weeks with none. But by 34 weeks they started, and just kept on coming.

My mom, sister and I all got tooons of stretch marks.
I got mine around 30 weeks

We both got a bunch. Short torsos, not so stretchy skin, and huge babies....we were doomed.

My mom didn't but I have a ton (at 33 weeks). But I've also gained twice the weight she did. (She had complications including severe H.G. that plagued her for her entire pregnancy.)

My mother didn't get any but I've got lots. I didn't get many with my second pregnancy, though. Most of mine came from gaining 80 lbs with my first thanks to Polyhydramnios.

My mom got zero stretch marks. She also got zero heartburn or morning sickness, and neither of her labors lasted longer than four hours from beginning to end. The woman was born to be pregnant. I, however, was nauseous for most of my first trimester, have been chomping on Tums through the third trimester, and just started getting stretch bright red stretch marks along the bottom of my belly. I'm anticipating a grueling, days-long labor, although I'm still holding out hope that I will take after her in at least that one crucial way!

I had precisely one until 34 weeks and since then (currently 40+6) it's all just gone to hell. And, for the record, I've applied bio-oil and cocoa butter religiously every day. So, I think it was just inevitable for me.

My mom did not have stretch marks with 5 kids, but I ended up with stretch marks towards the end of my pregnancy. It's not bad though -- only a few near by belly button. I was really hoping to get away without them.

my mom got no stretchmarks. she also had no nausea and no heartburn, and neither of her labors lasted longer than four hours from beginning to end. she was born to be pregnant. i, on the other hand, was pretty much continually nauseous through my first trimester (although i only threw up once), i'm starting to chomp tums now in my third trimester, and i've acquired several stretchmarks along the bottom of my belly. i'm anticipating a very long, grueling labor...although i'm still holding out some hope that i will take after my mom in that one very important way! if my pregnancy is going to mimic either of hers in any way, i want it to be that one!
