@sweetooth: Yay, congrats on the job!!! I agree, if it's not too obvious and you can wait a little with telling them, do that. I hope it's a great place and you'll like working there! And feel better soon.

@sweetooth: oh yay congrats on the new job!
So I had my last cervical monitoring on Friday (23 weeks) and everything still looks good! Baby is measuring 1 lb 1 oz and I've gained 10 lbs since my first appointment. I feel like I gained more around this time with LO #1 but maybe it's because I wasn't quite as active during my first pregnancy...now I'm chasing around a toddler all day!
Major score...convinced DH that we needed to get a cleaning person because it's getting harder for me to clean the house. Specifically the floors...we have 100% hardwood except for the stairs and the uostairs hallway and they are a lot of work to keep clean and my back is starting to ache! And since DH is not keen on cleaning, he agreed we could outsource...temporarily he said...but you better believe I'm going to milk it for as long as I can.

@Ginabean3: That's awesome! I could so use a house cleaner right now.

@QBbride: Yes to the water weight loss. I zipped up my coat the morning after the day I could barely keep any liquids down and I was amazed how much better my coat fit. Thanks for the vote of confidence on my new job
@Mrs. Pickles: @simplyfelicity: @fuzzypeaches: @Ginabean3: @Mama Bird: Thanks for the congratulations! I found a new position in the same company. It's not my dream job, but it was a good move for me for now. We'll see what happens when I tell them the news and request my three months off, three months after I start this new position. I'm just hoping I can stay healthy enough to make a good impression. These daycare germs on top of the weakened pregnancy immunity is tough!
@Ginabean3: Good to hear that things are looking good after your monitoring appointment. And total score on the cleaning person!

@turkeylurkey: my MIL is planning my shower, it's June 13!
Also, we booked our maternity shoot for June 20!
@sweetooth: Congrats on the new job!
@Ginabean3: What do you mean by cervical monitoring?
And a cleaning person sounds awesome!
So, we had a bit of a minor scare here yesterday. We may have just been overreacting, but here's what was going on: We had plans to go to brunch yesterday am at 10:30. I got up feeling fine and started to get ready. Then right before leaving, I had to go to the bathroom. My tummy was feeling kinda iffy. I went but I could tell there would be sequels. Then we arrive at the brunch place, and I ended up going 3 times in the one hour we were there.
(I'm hoping people just thought I was throwing up, not completely blowing it up in there, which is what I was doing.) Not quite full on diarrhea, but definitely "loose." I also was feeling crampy, and it felt like menstrual cramps. I didn't eat hardly anything when I was there.
So we finally get home and I go one more time. Still had the cramps. I wasn't too worried until I googled "24 weeks pregnant, cramps and diarrhea." Well every page said if you were experiencing this, to go to your doctor right away! Of course it was Sunday so that wasn't an option. And they never told us what to do, or who to call in case something did happen after hours.
So we ended up calling the university hospital, and got connected to the maternity ward. They told me to take the equivalent of Tylenol, and Imodium, which thankfully we had, and to call back in an hour. I took them, then slept. I felt better after the hour, but we couldn't get a hold of them again to tell them. Baby boy is still moving around plenty I think. But after reading all those pages saying it could be preterm labor, we were pretty freaked out!
So I called my Drs. office this am and tried to explain to the girl who answered what went down, but I'm not sure she totally understood. She gave me an appointment for Weds. I guess if anything else, I can at least get the info from my Dr. as to what to do in case something else worrisome happens after hours. What an ordeal.
TLDR: Should I be worried about cramps and diarrhea?
Sorry that was so long!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I think you're being smart to go see the doc and get it checked out. Honestly, I've had those loose stools this entire pregnancy (it was also how I experienced "morning sickness" this time) and it sucks. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I'd be more concerned about the cramping in conjunction with the potty issues. Are you drinking enough water? I started having cramping after overexerting myself from painting, where you doing any extra housework or anything?
nectarine / 2600 posts
@ValentineMommy: so do you have the cramps when you have the bm issues? It's weird b/c I was constipated forever with this pregnancy, then all of a sudden I was going more regularly, but they weren't ideal. (Too soft.) Ugh god, sorry for the TMI! And then that ordeal yesterday...
No, I wasn't doing anything. Just looking forward to brunch, which totally got ruined! Oh and I forgot to mention, my lower back was hurting too. So yeah, I was definitely getting freaked out....But I am feeling better now.
I NEVER drink enough water, I am terrible about it! And I have magnesium that I'm supposed to take 2x a day, which you mix into water. (Which is supposed to ward off cramping I think.) But I can never remember to take it, or else I'm just lazy....god I'm awful. Going to take some now while I'm thinking about it!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: eek! Scary but I'm so glad you went to see the dr!! My friend actually had similar symptoms and it turned out she was extremely dehydrated and that's what was causing the cramping. Plus her potassium levels were very low. She had to go to the hospital and get a couple of IV bags to boost up her levels!
So since LO #1 came at 30 weeks I've been considered high risk with this pregnancy and have been going in every two weeks to get my cervix measured to make sure baby stays in there....it was an alternative to getting the cerclage right away! Luckily my cervix has stayed nice and long with no change so all is good (for now!). After 23 weeks cervical measurement isn't a good indicator of whether baby will come early anymore so that's why I don't have to go anymore. However I'm still going in weekly for progesterone shots. So far so good.....I just want this baby to bake as long as possible!
nectarine / 2600 posts
@Ginabean3: ah, ok got it. I was wondering b/c my doc told me he'd start checking my cervix at my next appointment, and I had no idea what that meant.
And I haven't gone yet, but I will go on Weds. regarding what happened yesterday. I do find it weird that they didn't get me in right away, just in case. But like I said...not sure she totally understood what I was telling her. Ugh! Living in a foreign country...

@TheSwissWifeStyle: ah! Well best of luck to you! I'm sure everything will be fine!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Glad you are getting checked out! I started having some AF like cramps this weekend, too, and I read that dehydration can cause it. I drank a bunch of water and it went away. Plus, I was painting and had only had coffee so far in the day.

Anyone else's ring not fitting? I got this cheapie one from Target. It's a size 1 1/4 larger than I normally wear and has some growing room. Kind of looks like my wedding set...maybe that's why I picked it.
pomegranate / 3401 posts
@simplyfelicity: my rings still fit ok but wow! What a pretty fake ring! And even prettier real wedding set! Love it!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Not fun at all! You may have had just a stomach bug. I had one with my first pregnancy and I thought I was in labor. Cramping, etc. My OB has an after hours number you can call to speak to the on-call doctor. You might ask your's for that information.
@simplyfelicity: I can wear mine on a nice cool day, but when it's hot outside I can't. I can only wear the engagement ring, the band is too tight.

@simplyfelicity: wow, that's pretty! But mine are still ok for now!

@sweetooth: congrats!
@Ginabean3: woohoo!
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I've also had bouts of that both this and last pregnancy. I think you should def go Wed just to make sure though!
23 weeks and feeling soooo nauseous today. WTF?!!?!? WHY IS THE NAUSEA BACK!?
nectarine / 2600 posts
@mrsjyw: ok, well that is somewhat reassuring! But yes, definitely going to the dr. on Weds. And sorry about your nausea, ugh!
nectarine / 2834 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I had the same exact thing at 22 weeks with DD1. My doc seemed to know exactly what to do when I called so I wonder if it's more common than we think. She told me not to eat for the rest of the day and drink warm water with lemon and a little bit of sugar. I could eat some toast (think BRAT diet) or something light and gentle for the next 24 hours. I was totally cured. She never quite explained it to me, but it worked like a charm! I'm sure everything is okay!
pomelo / 5791 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I don't get the cramping with the bm's. I only had cramps when I overdid it at home. Definitely try to drink more water though, that's what made my cramping go away!
@simplyfelicity: I'm juuuust about to outgrow mine as well (on hot days anyway). How much was the target ring, if you don't mind me asking? My ring looks like that too! Pretty!
We had our 3D scan today and the palate looked good! Sadly, we couldn't get a good face shot because of the anterior placenta and he kept putting his arm in his face. What we did see - he looks just like DS1! I hope he does, I really do!
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@ValentineMommy: I am pretty sure it was 14 bucks or so.
@Ginabean3: Thank you! I love that the stand-in was so cheap!
I am super jealous most of you can still wear your rings...I also can't stand the feeling of rings even being slightly tight. My hands don't look different but who know.

@mrsjyw: Sorry you feel sick! I get those days once in a while. Are you still taking the unisom + b6? I went one day without it and really felt it.

@simplyfelicity: that is a great fake ring! glad rehydrating fixed the crampy feelings this weekend. i am still wearing my wedding rings, but they were a smidge big to begin with anyway.
@Ginabean3: glad you had a good checkup. yes, we're all hoping for baby to stay in there for a good long time (okay not toooo long but you know what i mean given what happened last time).
@TheSwissWifeStyle: i'm sorry you had to deal with that. how are you feeling now? that's good to get it checked out, but i hope it's not anything more serious than a stomach bug or dehydration. keep us updated!
@sweetooth: congrats on the job!
i feel like i've gotten significantly bigger this past week. maybe the baby is having some kind of growth spurt.

It just dawned on me that I am a little over a week from the 3rd trimester. Ummm...what?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@simplyfelicity: !!! :O time flies. I can't wait to hit viability next week! I haven't been taking the b6+unisom in over a month. And I've been pretty okay. Only nauseous if I overeat, but I've been pukey all day :\ Hopefully it passes and it's a fluke!

@simplyfelicity: Whoo hooo!
I think time is really flying by which is great.......I should probably start working on my to-do list......

@simplyfelicity: sooooo exciting!! And i love the ring! I will have to start thinking about this. I wore mine through delivery with DD1 (at the end of October) but I have a feeling with the summer coming, mine will get too tight soon.
kiwi / 541 posts
@simplyfelicity: I know same here! Where did the time go? I'm glad though because I feel like once you get in the 3rd Trimester the baby is more mature and if you bingo early thing should go good. At least that's my way of curbing the anxiety levels! LOL

@simplyfelicity: Whoa! I am right there with you and had NO IDEA.. I kept thinking it was around 30 weeks. Crazy!
I am loving this point in pregnancy. Nobody is giving me a strange look and wondering if I ate too many burritos... they ask me when I am due.. lol. I love rocking the bump!
TIme is flying!
Do people know when they are having their showers?

Anyone else having major baby brain? Last night, while unloading groceries, DS1 asked me to open a new bubble toy. I took him outside and got him all set up and went back to finish the groceries. Fast forward to when he wants a bubble refill and I can't find the thing of bubbles anywhere. Like anywhere. I even searched my whole back yard to make sure the dog didn't take it. About an hour later I found them. In the refrigerator.

@Candy_nee: haha that's hilarious! I may have put a carton of milk in the cupboard recently...
Today a lady came over to measure our kitchen for the reno and she's like "is this your first?" I'm like "is what my first?" and she pointed at my belly. Haha!! I'm so clueless sometimes.
@mrsjyw: could it be reflux? When I get bad reflux my nausea gets really bad!!
pomegranate / 3521 posts
@Candy_nee: yes!! I was fully driving the opposite direction on the highway this morning for a solid few minutes before I realized what the hell I was doing. I also needed to run home between assignments and make sure I didn't leave the stove on because I couldn't remember if I turned it off.

@Reese: Oh my gosh! Thank goodness you are ok!
I have a couple of my showers in May. It gets hot here so much better than June for sure!
You are nearly at the 3rd tri, too! It's seriously flying by.

Anyone else a legit emotional mess? My husband said something to me yesterday that hurt my feelings and I am still crying about it. He has apologized/feels really bad and I don't want to rake him over the coals but I am having a really hard time getting over it.

@simplyfelicity: LOL sorry not even clear.. Can I blame that on baby brain. I mean, I got on the westbound ramp when I needed to go eastbound. Lol not driving on the opposite side/against traffic!

Anyone wanting to make any big purchases before baby? Right now I am feeling like I need to get a nice camera (DSLR or mirrorless) so I can take some high quality pictures and videos of LO. We also need a new macbook as the one we have is pretty old. My dirty 30 birthday is coming up in May and I am debating on asking for one of the 2.
