@starlitsky: I'm sorry it's taking so long When my doctor told me about inductions, he made it seem like it was only 24 hours. How dilated are you?

@starlitsky: I'm sorry lady!! I'm so surprised they also seemed to have you waiting a long time just to get the foley
clementine / 795 posts
@MrsKRB: my doctor said inductions for FTM can take 2-3 days! I guess it just really depends! I'm 4-5 cm now but didn't make much progress overnight.
@runnerd: yes! It took 9 hours from checking in to getting the Foley placed. The Foley worked perfectly but so far pitocin isn't getting my contractions as strong as they need to be. I think the next step might be to break my water. Hoping this baby comes today!!

@starlitsky: good luck mama!
With my son it was 29 hours.
With baby girl, 6 days of prodromal labor, then 4 hours from oh crap this is labor to baby! She was born VBAC with hand out first over her head!
@purple daisy, good luck!

@runnerd: @Ree723: @pastemoo: @MrsKRB: thanks for the thoughts, mamas! No baby yet but getting close. After 2 rounds of pitocin with no effect on contractions or dilation (stuck at 4 cm), the team of doctors asked if I wanted to take a break and then try a final round of pitocin tonight, or try cytotec/misoprostol, or proceed with a C. I asked about breaking my water and they didn't want to because the baby is not engaged in the pelvis (-2) and there is a risk of cord prolapse, where the umbilical cord can come out before the head and get compressed (very serious complication). But after they did another exam, they found out the head is close enough to the cervix that the risk of cord prolapse is minimal, so they changed their minds and went ahead with breaking my water after placing an epidural in case they needed to do an emergency C right away.
Long story short, water is broken and we are waiting to see if that kickstarts labor. If not, the baby will be coming out tonight via C (hopefully more like a planned vs emergency C). Will update everyone tomorrow! Hope all you mamas are doing well!

I have good news! After breaking my water and getting another round of pitocin, I dilated to 9.5 cm!! I'll be checked again in a bit and hopefully will get to 10 cm and can start pushing soon!!
I know it can take another few hours for baby to actually arrive... I'll try to post when I can! Yay!!!

Baby boy was born this morning at 5:22 am, 7 lbs 13 oz. Breaking the water + the 3rd round of pitocin worked!! I pushed for 1.5 hours. He was sunny side up so took longer to come out. It was so hard but so worth it!
More details later!
