I've never heard of anyone doing this...weather or not you tell people a date, the baby is going to come when it wants People want to know the date because they're excited, too!

Maybe you could say "Around the last week of September", so it narrows it down enough to satisfy them but not put a specific number date on it?

I think my SIL is trying to do this, but I kept thinking I just forgot and kept asking her when she's due. I'm annoying! I finally realized and stopped asking!

When I got pregnant, a friend told me to just tell everyone a date at least two weeks past my actual due date, so that people wouldn't harass me about being late, etc. It was a smart idea, but I was already like 4 months along and had told everyone my actual due date. Next time!

I never tell anyone my due date unless I'm very close to them. Especially strangers... I'm a very guarded and private person anyway. Why do I need to tell a stranger on an elevator when my baby is expected to arrive? I just say 'June'. If they press I say 'beginning of June. Not sure. He measures a little differently every time I have an appointment.'

I also want to avoid people hassling me about whether I've had him or not yet when the due date passes. One of my friends literally got tons upon tons of calls, texts, FB posts etc when she went overdue of people asking "Have you had that baby yet?!" She said it just added to her stress and anxiety about baby being late, and whether or not she'd have to be induced. She finally sent people to this website. Priceless. haha

Eh, good luck. I'm due march 30th and a lot of people, i just say "oh the very end of march" when they ask when i'm due. Then they ask for a specific date. People want THE DATE, trust me!

@plaidpants: I would consider doing something like this!

To be honest I've never heard of anyone doing this and if I asked someone when they were due and they were vague like that I would find it really odd- like they thought they were Beyonce trying to tip off the paparazzi or something. Being annoyed with questions and comments when you are pregnant is part of the deal unfortunately- just roll with it.

We did that!!!!!! and I LOVED IT!!! We told most everyone "Early April" or "The first part of April"... if they pushed the subject I told them "If I'm still pregnant on Tax day you can start asking". My edd was April 1st and knew there was no way I could make it to April 15th so I was good. lol

Pros
1. I wasn't pressured into intervening when I went past my edd.
2. I didn't get any calls/fb messages/etc "Is the baby here yet?..".
3. I felt more okay with going overdue and didn't start stressing until I was 41+3 b/c if I made it to 42 weeks I couldn't homebirth and I was an automatic repeat cesarean.

Cons
1. I got some pretty offended looks when I didn't share. I also got these same looks about being team green though. Turns out people just feel it's there right to know everything about your pregnancy. O_o

Next time we'll do the same thing. =)

@hergreenapples: Yes this! I've been saying Sept. I've told a few people the actual date but Sept. tends to appease the masses. On that note my EDD is 7 months from today lol.

I thought about doing that, but for work I would feel bad being vauge or dishonest since the preparation for me bieng out depends heavily on actual dates, so I figured if I'm telling work I might as well tell everyone!

@LazyLightning: That's mine too! Or the 2nd, my OB goes back and forth. I have a feeling I'll be late so it'll (maybe) keep me from getting pestered.

@LittleGBee: I would like to do this next time around. I don't know if I could keep it up but I think it would help my sanity toward the end.
This time I told strangers "May" and that was enough for them.

Not the due date, but I did keep the c-section date a secret! My family were pretty pissed about it but it was all forgotten when they received a totally unexpected text that baby A was here. We also kept the name and gender a secret until she arrived. I was pretty unpopular for a few weeks but everyone got over it
