I either can't fall asleep until 2 or fall asleep right away but wake up at 3.....despite pregnancy approved sleeping aid. So tired but can't sleep! Mother nature is cruel!!!

@winniebee: sigh. I hear ya. I'm 2 weeks behind you and am having sleep problems, as well. You would think our bodies would want to help us stock up on sleep before baby arrives, not leave us lacking!
Congrats on 34 weeks!!! 2 more to go on bed rest!

@Andrea: nope! Exhausted during day but can't nap either. Ridiculous!

@winniebee: ok that is crazy. Mother nature is cruel!!!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@mediagirl: I figured you might be up! Last night I ditched the sleep aid and had your problem and have been up since 3. I'm hoping this will pass!
This might push me over the hump towards being "over" pregnancy! You?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Andrea: I'm going to try for a warm bath and nap this afternoon. Can't hurt!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@winniebee: yup, over it. I've been on the over it train for 3 weeks already, though. Ugh, sorry about waking up at 3!
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@winniebee: this might be a stupid question but is a tiny bit of red wine allowed? Just thinking of things that would zonk me out in the middle of the day and alcohol always does it!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@Andrea: @winniebee: ooo even better! A warm bath and 4oz of wine. I think that if I couldn't fall asleep, I'd try all of that!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Andrea: I'm going to try it ; )
@mediagirl: I haven't allowed myself to be over it yet since ive just wanted him to keep cooking! In 2 weeks I will be just "done" though!

So sorry! I hated restless nights with a big old belly!
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@winniebee: :-D. My problem was that I could not sleep after giving birth as I was just so high on adrenaline. DH gave me a tiny bit of whisky to fall asleep at night after I nursed. It worked like a charm!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Andrea: is 630 am too early to have some?? ; ). I guess it is breakfast time first...
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@winniebee: It might be worth trying it early in the day! You know how babies can't sleep if they are over tired? I find that this happens to me, too, so maybe put yourself down for a nap early. Hehe!

I couldnt sleep on a bed! Had to sleep on the recliner. Even now, I'm sleeping on the recliner.... Getting better though. Yay@34 weeks! Slowly but surely. Good luck getting some rest!

I went to bed at 1am, got up like 3 times to pee, it is 6:30 and I am up for the day, unfortunately it is a packed day, so I might not have good amounts of time for a nap
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MsMini: Ugh, sorry you are suffering too - hope you have a good time at your shower nonetheless!
grapefruit / 4056 posts
@winniebee: Thanks! I am sure I will. I have lots of shopping and visiting to do before I even get to shower time, so hopefully I can try to squeeze a nap in.

Yea, I hear ya. As someone who can literally sleep anywhere whenever sleeping issues is a new problem!!!
I wake up almost every hour to pee or from my rib cage pain or from leg spasms. Fun times!

So glad baby is still in the oven!! And yes.. Sleep will never be the same again..

I was having sleep issues too...and then i got admitted to the hospital (and as a result, got an order for ambien!) and havent had an issue since! Not sure if thats what your doctor ok'd, but if not, ambien has been a life saver for this soon to be mama!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@stiffaknee: When I was in the hospital, I had ambien and didn't love it : ( I have taken 1/2 Unisom since around 24 weeks and it's worked pretty well up until a week ago. Ugh! Are you still in the hospital/on bedrest?
apricot / 290 posts
@winniebee- yep! My doctor wasnt seeing the results she would have liked from me resting at home, plus my blood pressure has gone up, so they admitted me to the hospital on thursday. Ill be 37 weeks on wednesday, so hopefully i wont be here too much longer!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@stiffaknee: Ugh, sorry to hear that!! But you are SO close to full term - will they induce you next week?
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
I hated when people said to sleep now before the baby comes. Like it's that easy.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@artbee: As in, pretty much impossible! Pre-pregnancy I was SUCH a good sleeper. DH is baffled.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@stiffaknee: oh my! I'm glad you're okay. Are you actually able to get good rest in the hospital or do you have nurses waking you up every couple hours?
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@artbee: YES! Thanks for the advice. You're so wise. :-\

@mediagirl, ive been sleeping really well, surprisingly. I have my blood pressure taken and fetal monitor hooked up around 10 or 10:30, and then the next time they wake me up is 6:30 for blood work. I think they come in at 3 or so and take my blood pressure, but (thanks to the ambien) it doesnt wake me up!!!
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@winniebee: At least you have hope that eventually you'll be a good sleeper again then. I've never been a good sleeper, my mind goes crazy at night!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Aww I'm sorry. Is it because you are uncomfortable or because the baby is really active?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@bluestriped bee: It's usually just that I can't fall asleep - I blame that on hormones. I'm tired but I just can't sleep. Then, I wake up every hour or two b/c I'm uncomfortable or have to pee. So glorious!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Hey look! It's 3am! Good morning! Unfortunately tonight is worse because I was worried about the husband. He woke up at 2,saw I was rolling over, and said the pain pill I gave him worked, and fell asleep finally. I, on the other hand, did not fall back to sleep.

@mediagirl: i woke up at 4am and DH told me he had been upnsince 1am and was sick so we ran to pharmacy to pick up some over the counter stuff to make him feel better and to sleep. Once we got home, he passed out so fast while i stayed up for another 2 hours LOL. Not fair. So jealous that he could take nyquil LOL

I was also up early today, from 4:30-6. Stupid reflux/heartburn and the fact that it's just not as comfortable sleeping sitting up. I wind up laying down and then wake up feeling sick. Luckily, I went back to sleep for a couple of hours but I was worried I wouldn't when the sun started to come out. Due date in 1 week, so at most I have 3 more weeks of this. I think I can do it!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@mediagirl: awww nooo! You just feel like a zombie today : (. I couldn't fall asleep after over an hour in bed to took the other 1/2 of my unisom tab (allowed). Result? Slept 10 hours. I don't know how you feel about taking mess in pregnancy, but maybe ask your doc. If you had just a few weeks left I would stay stick it out, but you need some rest over the next 8ish wks!!
@mom2b2agirl: Lol I would have sent him out alone!
@bpcmarj: Wow just one more week til your dye date! So exiting! I think the worst part of pregnancy insomnia is worrying over whether you will fall asleep. I think that part at least for me might cause it in the first place!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@winniebee: that's awesome! 10 hours! Woohoo! I'm so anti drugs that I don't think I'll be able to do it. If this happens 3x a week and the other 4 nights I get good rest, I think I can manage. We shall see.
@bpcmarj: your due date is next week! So exciting. You can make it!
@mom2b2agirl: ugh. I know, my husband has been taking Tylenol PM to sleep and I'm insanely jealous, as well.
