I'm needing either some reassurance or a reality check for those of you who have had low progesterone in pregnancy.
I started having brown spotting (and 1 incidence of red) at 5w5d for the first time. I decided not to do anything about it because I was headed to the doctor in 36 hours, so we'd just discuss it then. It had pretty much stopped by the time I got to the doctor who thought it was all from my cervix. To make me feel more confident, she ordered an ultrasound and progesterone tests for that day. At exactly 6 weeks, I saw the little bean with a flickering heartbeat. Both the u/s tech and doctor said the baby looked perfect (i know it's so small, but they still said it). I was feeling great. However, the next day, the nurse called with my progesterone results and it was 6.8. They put me on oral supplements right away, but the nurse also conveyed that it was dangerously low and to call if I had bright red bleeding and cramps. I've been googling (I know... ) and i'm finding a lot of scary info about the progesterone level this late being a sign that m/c is imminent and that starting supplments now are virtually useless. I did get my hcg tested and I'll get the results tomorrow, so that should tell me a lot as well. The spotting had stopped from Monday until today when it resumed despite being on progesterone.
So ladies, give it to me straight. What do you think? Have any of you been in similar positions?
