So...I bought our bedding...and here is a picture of Kate's old Nursery (in our old home) to show the furniture and the wall color!!!

I think these are my DIY projects so far:
Main Wall: Ribbon Banner (below) in pinks/creams/golds with name in gold above it! The crib is partially on this wall (corner).
Mobile: DIY (picture below) in pinks/creams/golds...
Wall with window: I have some existing art (winnie the pooh and velveteen rabbit quotes) that I have framed and will leave.
Short Wall - next to changing table: Thinking of making some shelves with cutesy ball jars for storing small things - maybe doing these doily canvases (pictures) on the shelves as well.
Changing Table Wall: I have 3 canvases on this wall right now - all are too specific to Kate to re-use. So I think I'll make some new ones - I love the look of these monotone ones (picture below) and maybe a more colorful one in the middle!!!
I will make all this stuff over Christmas 'break' when I am off work and Kate is at Daycare!!!

We're doing Where the Wild Things Are. We already have a grey glider, he'll use Oliver's old crib and changing table (both white) and I'll DIY pretty much everything, lol.

@Mrs D: I think yesterday I decided I'm going to do a mobile like that only with pages from the book Where the Wild Things Are, lol.

@Navy_Mommy: Oooh, what a great idea! I'm excited to see how it comes together!

Our nursery is actually pretty tiny, lol, so yesterday when I realized it is completely possible I'll have a baby in a little more than two months I started planning.
Found these prints I love on Etsy, they said they could do them without the pink and the red so we'll get those.
My mobile inspiration.
The crown print is a fabric that I'm going to make a few small things out of.
And I'm going to make a crown pillow and one other for on the glider.
I saw something similar the the name print on Pinterest so I tried to throw one together and I'm actually really happy with how it turned out! We haven't decided 100% on a name, Elias is just one of our choices right now.
There's one window. I think we're going to make a curtain rod out of a branch or piece of driftwood. Then we'll use a plain curtain and DH will hand paint the silhouettes of Max and the "wild things" along the bottom.
I *think* I'm going to try and DIY a lamp like this one with driftwood from the beach. http://www.worldmarket.com/category/lighting/table-lamps.do?template=PLA&plfsku=483185&camp=ppc%3AGooglePLA%3Anone%3A97434870659custom4furniture%26custom0table_lamps&adpos=1o1&creative=50632183379&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CjwKEAiAhaqzBRDNltaS0pW5mWgSJADd7cYD_yr_k8yokwuCk4Urv8juMZipmIYE21YGqEQJJB32oBoCzEPw_wcB

Oh, and we had gotten green and blue paper lanterns to use in our gender reveal, I saved them to go above the changing table. Both boys have had lanterns over their changing tables and they both LOVED them. Anything to distract baby while I'm changing diapers, lol.

Found this perfect lamp at Marshall's for the nursery! And ordered fabric for the crib sheet and to line the bins for the diapers with. AND we're currently treating a cool piece of driftwood we got on the beach in bleach to be used as a curtain rod!
And I started punching circles out of a copy of the book for the mobile. I think I'm on track! lol

I need your opinions please, ladies! I want to paint DD's room a minty color similar to these inspiration photos. However, the ceiling is currently painted in "sky" like effect. Will this clash or do I need to repaint the ceiling?? I kind of like the sky look.

@Navy_Mommy: That lamp is great! My husband is (kind of hilariously) starting to freak out about lamps. With Bennett we got basically everything at Target but now Target is gone and we don't know what to do...
@Alivoo01: Personally, I think it might be too much - I would repaint. But I don't think it would look /bad/, I just think it would be overwhelming.
So far our nursery has these things in it. The walls are a light blue and we got dark grey curtains:

Today I made a crib sheet and the ugliest Where the Wild things are throw pillow I've ever seen
This weekend I want to finish the mobile.

@Navy_Mommy: I just clicked over to be nosy about the nurseries and my first thought was that was a cute pillow!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@2littlepumpkins: thank you. I guess ugly isn't the best word for it. Kitschy, maybe?

@Navy_Mommy: Aw, I think it looks great! And your crib sheets are way nicer than the ones I've made!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@erinbaderin: I've found the nicest looking crib sheets I've made have been the simplest ones. Not even encasing the elastic. Not going all the way around the sheet with the elastic. Just super simple.

Another project checked off the list!
These had Dr Seuss fabric on them for Oliver's nursery, ripped that off and replaced it with Where the Wild Things Are fabric!
So much for working on the mobile this weekend, maybe this week instead!

@Navy_Mommy: looks great!
Started work on the nursery-corner of our bedroom this weekend. Haven't made a ton of progress because I've been dealing with a recurring headache all weekend. Going to talk to the midwives tomorrow. I wish I could take something stronger than Tylenol!!

Everyone's nurseries & ideas are looking great! We are just getting started on some projects here and gearing up for room switching and organizing. Here's a picture of fabric I have to make a blanket for baby girl and a valance for her window. I want to get letters to put her name on the wall too and possibly find a rug for her room. We have one now that would work but I'm not sure which girls room I want it in.

@creativemomma15: I have a quilt made out of almost exactly those fabrics! Lol.

Wow, these all look SO great! Had my baby in November ... just creepin' on your thread!

I hemmed the new curtains today, which is a super minor achievement but my husband actually suggested taking them to a tailor so I'm feeling pretty vindicated.
Also, after weeks of debate over how/when to transition the rocker/recliner out of Bennett's room, we realized we just use it too often still - we read stories in there, we snuggle when he's not feeling well, and we lay in there when he wakes up early from naps to get him to sleep a bit longer. So we just ordered another one - the same chair (Best Tryp) in a different fabric. Hopefully it will go well in the room, we had a hard time picking fabric!
@Navy_Mommy: The first time I made a sheet I just put elastics on a diagonal across the corners - I didn't even hem the fabric! It looks pretty terrible now but it all gets tucked in so you can't tell but it bugs me. I made two for the neighbours over Christmas and did a much better job, with elastic around the corners and everything. I think I'm really starting to figure it out!

@erinbaderin: we still use the chair in in the big boys' room every day, and wes is almost 4. So I think that's a good move.

I finally have pics to share!! I spent the last two nights recovering the cushions of a glider we picked up second-hand for cheap. I also glued some cute paper onto the wooden O, rehung the canopy curtains onto an embroidery hoop, and started arranging the baby things. Here are the results!
Picture 1: the glider and nursery corner BEFORE.
Picture 2: the glider AFTER! I am super happy with how it turned out!
Picture 3: the nursery corner as it looks right now. Starting to come together!

Hey March mamas! Lovely nurseries!
@Alivoo01: that ceiling of yours is gorgeous Are you still deciding on what to do? I'd keep the ceiling, and paint the walls one of the lighter neutral colors featured in the ceiling. Then, I'd use the mint as curtains.

@Navy_Mommy: Love the fabric choice for the sheet! It looks great!
@creativemomma15: Apparently everyone has great taste because those fabrics are popping!
@mrsrain: Great job on the reupholstering! Looks brand spanking new!
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I am; and thanks for your suggestion! I like that! Might do that instead. Thanks!

@Navy_Mommy: Did you make the mobile "frame" - if so what are the rods that make the X in the middle? I bought some embroidery hoops and used one in K's big girl room for a DIY chandelier but used fabric for the X...so I want to use something better for the mobile in DD2s room!
These rooms are all looking so great! We're hitting a bit of a snag with the changing table. I still need it for K - so I think I am going to put my secondary one in her big girl room for now so I can finalize the transition...
Then once baby comes we'll move it to the first floor - and maybe K will be potty trained?

@Navy_Mommy: perfect...thanks so much...I'll try that this time...my mom has this knitting tool that makes the little "poofs" for the top of winter hats so I am planning to make "poofs" of cream, pink and gold yard for the mobile...I painted the hoops gold...hoping it turns out good!

@Navy_Mommy: adorable nursery! How long did it take to do the mobile? And how did you string the circles up? I hate to buy on etsy when I know I can probably make it myself!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@catomd00: I sewed them together with a plain sewing machine. Got the book on amazon used for $4.50, the embroidery hoop for about a buck, the dowel for about a buck. I had the circle punch and the thread so it was SUPER inexpensive.
Probably took a half hour to punch the circles, a half hour to sew, and a half hour to assemble.
grapefruit / 4418 posts
@Navy_Mommy: oh no you had me at sewing lol! I'll have to ask my MIL!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@catomd00: if you did two pieces for each circle you could sandwich string between them and glue them together. That would take a lot longer though. Like, twice as long.

Made some easy diy art to work into gaps in a collage in kates bedroom...planning to make some for the nursery as well! It was so easy...

UGH - HB just ate my last post...so annoyed!!!
Anyways - I need help from creative mamas out there.
I have my main wall in the nursery to finish up - its directly across from the entry door - so it is the focal point. Left side (on an angle in the corner) is the crib, right side (on an angle in the corner) is my rocking chair. Between those two pieces is an end table - for use when I am in the rocking chair.
I plan to do the following (picture) DIY artwork in the middle of the wall. Walls are light minty green...ribbons will be mostly ivory with some gold/pink in...name will be done in soft pink.
I was thinking of doing the wall with gold heart decals in a grid pattern...the hearts are 4.5"...the wall is 11' wide by 8' tall...what "grid" dimensions would you use? Or is the hearts and the ribbon/name together too much?!
