Hello!
We are throwing a "sprinkle" for a friend who is pregnant with her second baby (different sex). I wanted to get her a small gift even though we are not really doing gifts at the get-together.
What was the most useful thing you received for your second child? I am kind of stuck ...

ETA: I have already set aside some newborn clothes my son has grown out of for her since she only has girl stuff!

I got a lot of post-partum stuff like nipple cream, snacks, water bottle, lotion, etc and I thought that was really nice. My mom friends also put together a meal train for us so that I didn't end up having to cook for the first 3 weeks after we got home. That was probably the most amazing thing I received.

Diapers! 6 weeks postpartum and I haven't had to buy any on my own yet.

Well I'm not really far enough along to have gotten gifts, but the gift I want most is diapers! I have a friend that had diaper showers, and didn't have to buy diapers until her baby was 5 months old. That sounds magical!

Diapers and tons of food. I didn't have to buy diapers until 6 months!

Well there seems to be a consensus on diapers! Haha that's easy enough! Maybe not "heartfelt" but hey - practical is good too.

Gifts for LO1. Necessities like diapers and wipes, etc. were good too but it was nice for LO1 to get big brother presents mostly.

A freezer full of stouffers. Not something I would have bought, but my aunt showed up with a giant box of freezer waffles, a gallon of ice cream, and a bunch of frozen family size casseroles. They were delicious. Onesies in multiple sizes are nice too. Then infancy stage disappears faster with a second baby so I was really prepared for that stage, but now I suddenly have a giant, mobile baby I need to clothe. Having a few outfits in each size to get me through until I could shop was so helpful on the days I suddenly realized LO2s clothes were snug!

Diapers and wipes. But really, freezer meals. My sister brought me 2 weeks worth of meals or parts of meals for the freezer. Between those meals and pantry things like pasta, I didn't have to think about dinner for a month.
We also received so many diapers and wipes that I haven't had to buy diapers (besides boxes were I had a ton of coupons and it made sense) and my son is 9 months old now!

I recently bought a friend bath supplies for her second. Some new hooded towels, some Johnson & Johnson baby lavender soap and shampoo, and a few other small grooming things, I think like a new set of baby nail clippers, etc. just practical things that get worn out or used up between kiddos.

Oh man, as a second-time mom-to-be I would LOVE anyone who showed up with food for my freezer! That and maybe something for pampering myself!

It's a toss-up between the Razberry teether, a hooded bath towel, and a blanket. Everything else pretty much got handed down, but we'd lost all of DS's teethers, and didn't have a girly towel or blanket in our stash of baby stuff. Age appropriate warm clothes were also very welcome, because the kids were born in different seasons.

Yes the most useful stuff was things not for baby but for me - food and books for me to read at the hospital or stuck at home with the newborn.

Somebody gave me a new set of connecting rings for Felix which was very handy because my big girl had claimed hers back! I also loved the less practical gifts we were given (fancier clothes etc) because I'm frugal and practical by nature so I didnt buy a lot of that stuff.
My Mum also gave us a lovely blue merino blanket which was nice because it was something that belonged just to our wee guy and again couldn't be flogged by his sister...
