This summer because of the Zika risk, I had to go with Deet. Nothing else cuts it in our crazy yard. Some natural stuff helps but with being pregnant I didn't want to take the risk.

@T.H.O.U.: thanks i just posted about zika too as that's why i'm looking. So far i havent been using anything but my mother is really anxious about zika. So far no one has gotten it from being bitten by a mosquito in america i believe

@Mrsbells: They were investigating some possible cases in South Florida but I haven't heard anything confirmed.

I am not sure if it's safe for pregnant women, but another widely available option is a formula with picaridin.
eta: it seems DEET and picaridin are labeled safe for pregnant women.

My OB says to use bug spray with deet, and that unfortunately a lot of the more "natural" options are not effective against the mosquito carrying it I've mostly just tried not to be outside for prolonged periods, and the few times I was, I did go with the deet.

So far I haven't been using anything, I'm 27 weeks, and made it fairly bite free. I don't have my dinners outside in the evening unless we're at the pool. A fan pointed at us if we're outside works fairly well too.

I think DEET is the way to go. (Full disclosure, I haven't been using anything, but I live in MA. If I lived further south, I'd use DEET).

I go big with Off Deep Woods. I am a mosquito magnet - during my first (summer) pregnancy, I used it basically every time I went outside. My OB said it was fine. DS is almost 2, no ill effects that I can see.

I've been using this -

And try not to be out at dawn/dusk.

I just bought some off deep woods too, and hopefully that should do the trick . I usually get a lot of bites each summer but havent gotten any this year as far as I know. Usually mosquitoes bite me 10 times more than they bite DH but nothing this year. well I'll still use the repellant just to play it safe

I've been using an Off family formula because I didn't want to use DEET. It's worked just fine
