Random thought. I just realized that my due date is thanksgiving (I know, duh!). For some reason, that day has been important in all of my pregnancies! My miscarriage started on thanksgiving when I was at work. A year later, it was my last day at work before maternity leave with my son. And now my due date! Kinda trippy. And forgive me if I figured this out in the past and posted it but somehow totally forgot.

Pregnancy brain is for real, you guys. I didn't think it'd happen to me, but it happened the other day.

I left work the day before with my usual things (purse, lunch bag, laptop) and went home. I dropped my things off at home and then left to go babysit my friend's kids. I came home afterward and realized that I didn't see my laptop in on the dining table or counter where I usually put it. Weird. I figured I must have left it in the car, and then I went to bed.

As I was getting ready for work yesterday morning, I took another quick look around the house for my laptop before heading out to the car. Must be in the car, I kept telling myself. I open the backseat to put my stuff down, and there is NO laptop there!! WHAT. I SWORE I brought laptop home with me. I distinctly remember doing so! I run back into the house and do another quick sweep, check my trunk, and even the floor of my car. Nothing. At this point, I'm panicking a little. I get into my car and head to work, praying that it is somehow miraculously at work.

Of course, there was a delay in the road that caused my normal route to be re-routed. The suspense mounts. I step into my room, walk over to my desk.... and THERE IT IS. Like I had intentionally left it there yesterday.... I was super glad it was there, but at the same time, I was very perplexed because I don't remember leaving it at work.

At 17 weeks the nausea is almost gone, just a tiny bit at night or if I get too hungry, yay! Also I am hungry all the time now, I just want to eat everything and of course tonight was the first night my husband was on his summer schedule and was supposed to get home at 6:30 and as of 6:45 hadn't left the office and still has a 30 min drive and I'm sitting here trying not to eat my own arm since I don't want to snack b/c I have a yummy dinner planned.

@snarkybiochemist: yay for the nausea being gone! Doesn't it feel awesome to feel like a normal human being again? At least that's how I felt when my energy returned and my nausea subsided. I'm hungry all the time too! I bought some whole wheat bread and peanut butter the other day to eat as a snack before dinner because baby ain't playing.

@chenergized: so great feeling more human, now just waiting for actually identifiable movements

@snarkybiochemist: same! I'm about a week ahead of you, I think. I've been trying to feel the baby move, but haven't had any luck. Sometimes I feel some gas bubbles that might be the baby, but I can't say for sure. 2 weeks until my anatomy scan. Can't wait!!!

@chenergized: yea i'm 17 weeks and my anatomy scan is on the 30th, as a first timer I have no idea what I'm even supposed to feel movement-wise

Happy to report that our anatomy scan went great and baby is looking healthy and right on track with growth. So relieved to have met this milestone. Officially half way there!

    @Shopoholicmom: Awesome!

I was asked by one of the male professors I work with how far along I am b/c I'm looking quite big. Now yes I am starting to show but I can still see my toes I am not huge!!!!

@snarkybiochemist: ugh. I know how you feel! Everyone at work is constantly commenting on it!

@Shopoholicmom: Yay for a great scan!

We had our anatomy scan as well. It was an amazing feeling to see a healthy baby moving around. We caved (after being team green for our first) and found out we are having a girl!! Since we don't plan on having any more children, I plan on spending some time this week donating all the boy stuff I have been saving

@snarkybiochemist: I'm sure you look great! People have such a hard time coming up with something appropriate to say. Are you feeling movements now?

  12. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@mrsbubbletea: I would so rather they didn't say anything at all then, the size of a pregnant lady is not something you comment on
@SugarMaple: I'm feeling all sorts of sensations but I am hesitant to actually call it movement since it feels a lot more jabby then everything I have read 1st movements described as feeling. Congrats on a baby girl (and the purging that comes with it)

I am getting so impatient for my anatomy scan on the 30th.

Hi all! I've been away and it doesn't look like I missed much We had our anatomy scan today and baby looks fantastic. Sadly they had some concerns about my uterus and may want to deliver me 3-4 weeks before my due date. I'll find out in September but in the meantime all is well.

We are a quiet group! How is everyone doing? Anyone else having increased sub sensitivity? I fried twice now even in share with sunscreen on!

This baby is a wiggle machine. I love the baby kicks - hands down my favourite part of pregnancy! My anatomy scan was 2 weeks ago and baby is looking great, the sex is still a surprise, I will be so glad when he/she is born and I can finally get rid of my massive amount of baby clothes in storage LOL.

Baby room is coming together, I kicked DD out into her "big girl" room and I am slowly moving baby stuff out of storage into the room.

Otherwise, just trying to manage the summer heat. Looking super large and in charge these days! We should have a bump thread update! I am getting lots of stranger chatter about my bump which I really don't mind at all (as long as no one touches me 😂)

My anatomy scan is tomorrow, I am so excited (and also a bit nervous). I can't wait to find out sex and I really hope baby cooperates. My husband is coming with me and he hasn't seen the baby in person since it was a grain of rice at 6 wks.

@snarkybiochemist: good luck tomorrow! Excited to hear what you are having!!

@MsMini: we are a quiet group! Maybe as we get later we will get more chatty.

I had a scary experience today! I was feeling dizzy soon after getting up, and the sensation of darkness around my peripheral vision. I tried to quickly drink some juice and go lie on the couch for a minute, when I passed out! I fell and hit my face on the ground, have a split lip, abrasion on my cheek, and a really swollen chin. I called advice nurse and they really wanted me to go in to ER, so my husband came home from work and we went. Everything was fine, they did an EKG, labs, ultrasound, and everything was normal. I just have a ridiculous beat up face and a terrible headache still. I've never passed out and never even been in the ER for anything, so it was a weird day!

    @snarkybiochemist: Thinking of you today!
@mrsbubbletea: Oh my goodness, that does sounds scary! I'm glad everything was ok but I'm so sorry about your face and having to go through that at all! Did they give you any indication of what it could have been? Orthostatic hypotension? Low blood sugar? Hope you're getting some rest from all that.

@Shopoholicmom: they just said it can happen in pregnancy, my best guess is drop in blood pressure. Everything was resolved by the time I was there, so it was impossible to know! @snarkybiochemist: thanks! Let us know ASAP your news!

Scan went well baby is measuring good to size or a bit bigger, though facing my back and being stubborn. In other news it's a girl!

@snarkybiochemist: yay that's so exciting! Glad your scan went well, and congrats on a girl!

@mrsbubbletea: yikes, that's super scary, but glad to hear that you and baby are doing okay!!

I had my anatomy scan last week, and baby is doing great and looking healthy. Measuring a little bit ahead, but doctor says she's looking to be a medium sized baby (if everything continues to progress at its current rate). And we found out the gender, it's a GIRL! I've had a feeling it was a girl since the beginning of my pregnancy, and while my hubs was convinced it was a boy, he's really happy to be having a little girl.

@snarkybiochemist: yay crafting! i've already made two hats (one beanie and one bonnet) for baby girl, though i made them before i found out the gender. i'm going to start working on a pom pom banner for the nursery

@chenergized: I am so excited to be making things for my baby instead of years of making things for other people's babies. With a November baby I should probably make a few hats

Had my MFM consult after my anatomy scan, baby girl is healthy and measuring right on track for growth. No plcenta previa and normal fluid levels Due to my risk factors I am to have another ultrasound between 26-28 weeks and then every 4 weeks after that and then NST every 2 weeks after 32, but I shouldn't need to see the MFM doctor again unless something changes.

@snarkybiochemist: Great! I am really nervous about my scan today. I am worried after my fainting last week, even though they checked the baby and everything looked good, just worried. That something won't be normal or even worse when they do the scan. And Ill be alone there too. Ugh. I had a dream last night my water broke but I was 30 weeks. Such a weird specific dream. ETA my dream was even worse, I just remembered, my cord prolapsed and I had to push it back up! Ugh. I woke up and had to pee and was so happy.

@snarkybiochemist: My ER doc last week told me she never felt movement till 25 weeks even with her second and third pregnancies! I better start feeling it like tomorrow, I know I definitely felt it at 20 weeks last time!

  39. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@mrsbubbletea: As a first timer I'm not even sure what it should feel like, maybe I have felt it and its just not regular or maybe I haven't?

@snarkybiochemist: Ive definitely mentioned this before, but last time during my anatomy scan, the tech said "are you sure you aren't feeling that?" since I had told her I wasn't feeling baby yet, and so it clicked. And it TOTALLY felt like gas bubbles! But I just haven't had that sensation this time!
