@2littlepumpkins: The university hospital and the one close to me are both level 3 nicus, so I would think unless I was referred there because of a problem/issue, I don't think I would be transferred there. Oh, my OB is in the same building complex as the nearest hospital.

Hi all! I have not been online in so long but I enjoyed catching up and hearing about babymoons and anatomy scans! Glad everyone is doing well. We decided to sell our house and move, decision made about a month ago but it has been a slow process and will take all summer unfortunately. We move Sept 1, hoping to finish our own basement by the time baby comes. Eeeek!

- No theme, just lots of pale green, blue, and coral. So far I've got curtains up and have made a quilt. I already had the piece of furniture I'm using as a changing table. DH is building the crib and will be done soon. We inherited a nice upholstered rocking chair and had it reupholstered. I'm picking it up next weekend. It's starting to come together. Once I get all the furniture in the room I need to find something to hang on the walls.
Baby shower plans:
- I'm having 3 showers in 3 different states! One at 28 weeks, one at 31, and one at 33. The last will be a coed BBQ so DH gets to join in the fun. He's having a shower at work. This baby is really loved!

#firsttimemomproblems :
When do I start packing my hospital bag?
Have you started on your nursery yet?
I'm not taking a L&D class and I'm debating whether I should. It's expensive, and I guess I'm worried I won't know when to go to the hospital (though I doubt my unknown knowledge at the same time)
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@babycanuck: I'll probably pack my hospital bag when I'm 36-37 weeks. I have started on the nursery. I want it to be finished early so I don't feel like I'm scrambling to get things done. And I have the time to work on it. As for childbirth class I really wanted to take one. Fortunately the one at my hospital is affordable and includes a tour. I'm looking forward to the tour so I don't have to figure out where to go when I'm in labor. DH and I are taking 4 classes at my hospital for $90 total. If it was $500 or more we probably would have skipped them.
pomegranate / 3105 posts
@Mrs. Pickle: I signed up for a tour and a baby care class. More for hubby since he's not been around babies and I have been. Maybe I'll see what I can find at other hospitals to compare prices.

How many weeks: 25 weeks today!
Boy, girl, or team green: we are still holding strong with ... I was really tempted to find out at our anatomy scan, but I'm glad that we didn't and I love guessing what this little one is! I'm thinking boy as of now.
Recent milestone: My maternity leave started yesterday! I feel so lucky to get a full year off, plus this summer since I'm a teacher.
Favorite symptom: the kicks! I just love them.
Least favorite symptom: heartburn. I'm taking Zantac but if I am late to take the pill by even 30 minutes it comes roaring back
Nursery plans: we were for DD so the nursery is neutral. We bought a nice glider since it's our one and only purchase for this baby. I am having lots of fun putting together DDs big girl room though!
Baby shower plans: No shower since it's my second, but my girlfriends are taking me out to dinner next month to celebrate.
Are your older LOs ready for a new sibling? She loves babies and dolls, but every time I ask her if she wants a brother or sister I get a firm "no no!!". I think she will love him/her but there may be an adjustment period...she's the only grandchild on both sides so she's used to tons, aka all of the attention!
If you could pick the day you deliver, what would it be? I don't care as long as it's after Sept 19 - I'm a bridesmaid 3 hours away from home that day!!
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@babycanuck: I didn't pack til like 37+ weeks, but you should do it whenever you feel comfortable. It's really only a couple nights so I'm personally not too worried about it- I spent four nights in the hospital a few months ago on no notice, and it turned out ok. But that said I'm planning on an epidural so I don't have an extensive list of labor items. Do it when you're comfortable. There's no real right or wrong as long as you have a car seat installed before you have to leave the hospital with lo! as for the birth class I think you can get the info online about the 5-1-1 rule..although it never really applied to me so I imagine that happens to others too. It did help me feel a little less nervous but if you don't want to spend the money I can understand that too.

Due date: 10/9 although I've been told from 10/6-10/9
How many weeks:24
Boy, girl, or team green: Boy!
Recent milestone: Viability!
Favorite symptom: Kicks.
Least favorite symptom: Pressure and pain.
Nursery plans: We're somewhat redoing DD's room as it will be a shared room. LO will be with us for awhile first though, and we will stay in the guest bed (loft) when we want everyone to be separate.
Baby shower plans: None, this is #2 and even last time a lot of the closer people in my life live far away. (Last time I had a local one and one in my hometown.) We will be traveling with lo hopefully at the end of the year so people can meet him though!
Are your older LOs ready for a new sibling? Two days ago we went out to eat with MIL and BIL and LO shouted to everyone (out of nowhere!) "Baby brother's in mama's belly! Baby brother's in mama's belly!" We talk a lot about what babies do but I think nothing can really prepare any of us..she's probably as she's going to be, but I'd like to have potty training completely done by then. We're making progress!
If you could pick the day you deliver, what would it be? Oct 1st? I imagine I'm going to have even more discomfort by October but I would really like to have an actual October baby as lo is a September baby, DH and I are the following two months! Also we have close family bdays on the 15th and 18th so to space them out a couple weeks would be nice.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babycanuck: OB already scared us into thinking the twins could very much come in July. Hoping they stay in til September, at least.
I'll probably put my bag together by the end of July. We are traveling back east in mid July for a baby shower and I'll be 27 weeks.

So fun reading everyone's updates! Good way to get caught up!
Due date: October 6
How many weeks: losing track this time! I think 26 weeks?
Boy, girl, or team green: boy!
Recent milestone: viability
Favorite symptom: feeling him move, he is so active!!
Least favorite symptom: sleep. It takes me a long time to get comfy bc of hip and back pain
Nursery plans: not really doing much- just changing out some of the pink stuff for blue/green/navy things bc LO2 will be in LO1s old nursery.
Baby shower plans: not having one.
Are your older LOs ready for a new sibling? Not sure! Some days she is excited and other days she says "I don't want brother to be born!" So we'll see
If you could pick the day you deliver, what would it be? October 3 would be great. My last day of work is Oct 2nd so it would work out good timing wise!
Question for all you second time moms- how long do you plan on staying in hospital? Is your DH going to stay w you or go back home to be with Older LO? The first time I wanted to stay as long as possible but this time I just really want to get back to M.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@Mrs. Pickle: Creeping over from the November/December threads and just wanted to say that I recommend having your bag packed well before 37 weeks. I unexpectedly had to be induced at a doctors appointment at 35 weeks and couldn't go home first. It absolutely SUCKED to not have anything I needed. My phone was almost dead, I was in uncomfortable clothes and didn't have anything to change into after delivery, etc. It sounds so trivial, but I really hated not having anything I needed. Most people don't have to deliver so early, but this time my bag will be packed by 30 weeks

@NovBaby1112: right now I plan on sending DH home to be with LO1 at night...I will prob stay in the hospital 2 nights, which is what I did with LO1. I know he will be in good hands at home, between DH and my parents and in laws, all of whom live locally. I would rather have time in the hospital to rest if possible and enjoy some one on one time with LO2.

Finally catching up with this thread. It's been a busy few weeks!
Due date: October 16
How many weeks: 23
Boy, girl, or team green: it's a boy!
Recent milestone: Little man is kicking so hard I can see my belly move
Favorite symptom: I'm loving all the kicks
Least favorite symptom: heartburn and trouble sleeping
Nursery plans: We're using the Alligator Madras bedding from Pottery Barn and painting the room beige with white board and batten on the bottom. We've finally started painting!
Baby shower plans: My sisters really want to throw a sprinkle, but since I'm having another boy and it's only 2 years later, I really don't want one! I'm hoping for just a nice lunch out with my mom and sisters and mother in law and sisters in law.
Are your older LOs ready for a new sibling? We talk about the baby all the time, but I don't think he gets it at all.
If you could pick the day you deliver, what would it be? Our anniversary is October 10th, so it would be fun for the baby to be born then
kiwi / 611 posts
@NovBaby1112: If everything goes well, I'm planning on only being there for 2 nights and DH will stay at the hospital with me. My in laws will stay at our house with DS. They've stayed with him a few times when we've been out of town, so I think he'll be fine without us.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@hilsy85: @jodyblair: I have no clue what we are going to do, I don't even know who is going to watch M...my family lives in OH and there are only a few people on my husbands side I would trust enough, but need to ask them still. I think I will send DH home every night just so M still has her night routine down.

Due date: November 2nd
How many weeks: 21 weeks
Boy, girl, or team green:
Recent milestone: passed the halfway mark!
Favorite symptom: not caring what i look like in a bathing suit anymore!
Least favorite symptom: arms starting to fall asleep at night. had it last pregnancy and i slept like crap at the end:(
Nursery plans: none. we're in a rental, DD1 was in our room for 5 months and we plan on moving when DD2 is around 3 months, so there's no point!
Baby shower plans: none. i like the idea of a girls' lunch though. one of my BFFs is due with her 2nd (a girl) 6 weeks before more and i thought it would be fun for us to do something small just to celebrate the babies with our group of girls, but not sure how to broach that as i really don't want it to be about gifts because i don't need anything in particular!
Are your older LOs ready for a new sibling? i mean, in the way a 2.5 year old can be ready for a total life change.
If you could pick the day you deliver, what would it be? Anytime after Oct. 18th works for me! I have a wedding OOT that I'm shooting before then and I need this kid to stay put! After that, I'll get going on all the prep that I did for DD1: RLT, walking, sex, etc. otherwise, I'm keeping my legs crossed. ha. I would also prefer NOT Oct 31st. And randomly, my DD2 could be born on my brother's birthday like DD1 was born on my SIL's birthday if she's a few days early! so that would be kinda funny.
pineapple / 12053 posts
@NovBaby1112: i'd like to stay only 1 night assuming we all check out well and i feel like i did after delivery last time. i was ready to go the next day after DD1, but she had to stay for jaundice treatments, which i'm glad we did stay for LC advice, etc. i want DH to stay with me overnight at the hospital though. my parents (mom at least) will most likely stay with DD while we're gone. i'm not worried about it as she's been away from us overnight plenty of times, but I also don't really care to stay in the hospital longer than necessary.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@MrsTiz: yikes! Thanks for the heads up. I'll have it packed early then, or at the very least have a list I can hand to my mom or MIL.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@bluestriped bee: July? That's too soon!! I hope they stay put until mid September at least.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
@NovBaby1112: DH is going to stay with me in the hospital and my mother in law is going to stay with LO. She lives two hours away so if things move fast, I have friends who can take LO. I had to stay two days last time due to being GBS positive and not having time to get enough antibiotics before birth but I'm hoping to not stay as long this time!
We've been at the beach so I'll do the quiz and catch up more when I get home finally!
pear / 1693 posts
@NovBaby1112: I hope to only stay in the hospital one night. We only stayed one night with DD, and I couldn't wait to get out of there. DD will most likely stay with my mom and I'll have DH stay with me.
Due date: October 19
How many weeks: 23w
Boy, girl, or team green: boy
Recent milestone: big kicks
Favorite symptom: movement
Least favorite symptom: I had some wicked heartburn for a week after having the stomach flu a couple weeks ago but it's gone now. I actually feel pretty great!
Nursery plans: We bedshare with DD, so I plan on getting a co-sleeper to attach to our bed for the baby, and then putting a full bed in the room they will (hopefully) eventually share for loud nights. No other changes!
Baby shower plans: I declined an offer for a sprinkle, but will be having a celebratory brunch with a few friends.
Are your older LOs ready for a new sibling? She talks about the baby and loves reading the baby/big sister books we got her, but I don't think she really understands. She's only 22 months though.
If you could pick the day you deliver, what would it be? I don't care as long as he's fully cooked!
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@NovBaby1112: as long as the doctor tells me to. I stayed two nights last time which was long since I delivered at 5am. I wouldn't mind doing that again but I have a feeling I'll want to be home. Last time the hospital had a nursery. I know that's not the in thing right now but after having lo cry and fuss til 4am both nights it was such a relief to have a nurse come in and take her for a few hours!! This time that won't be an option so I'll be wanting all our stuff I bet.
pear / 1614 posts
@NovBaby1112: I had a C section with my second so I was in the hospital 3 nights. My MIL came down and stayed with my older DS, and DH went back and forth. He got older DS into bed every night and then headed to the hospital to sleep on the uncomfortable couch in the room with me and baby. He was exhausted after 3 nights of this as you can imagine but insisted on coming to help every night. My older DS is fine with separation but when we all came home together after 3 nights he was totally ready to say goodbye to grandma and have his mommy and daddy back home! This time I hope DH is willing to sleep in his own bed, I love being with him but I want him to be rested. With our two older LO at home, he will be needed at home!

Anyone else get concerned when you don't feel baby for a while? I'm not yet to the point where my doc said I should be feeling consistent movement but I can't help feeling worried....
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@MamaBear87: I've been a little concerned. Baby girl is way more active than baby boy and the thought of something wrong with him does creep in my head.
I also have to remember that I don't know where his placenta is. If the placenta is anterior, that might be why I'm not feeling him as much.
nectarine / 2288 posts
@bluestriped bee: it's cool that you can feel them separately. But double the worry I suppose. Interesting that your girl is more active.
My placenta is anterior and baby girl was transverse so I'm guessing she turned and that's why I can't feel her as much.
Thanks for the reply tho. Always good to know I'm not the only one worried!
pomegranate / 3105 posts
sooo....this past week my HG has decided to flare up again and I feel like complete garbage. Back on the diclectin and hoping it passes soon. I have no sick days left for work.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babycanuck: Ugh! Sorry. I'm still on the anti-nausea patch and still take zofran & reglan as needed. This weekend was a bad, I threw up on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday and today I had to take the pills. I'm beginning to think my nausea will last the whole pregnancy. My ears (where the patch is placed) won't be too happy about it. There is already irritation but the patch is so much better than taking daily pills, so I just suck it up. I've had to stop itching at the patch so I don't make things worse.
