Aw, good luck! I was a nervous wreck when we "told" my ILs (my MIL chose and opened a Yankee Swap gift at Christmas that was a poem announcing the pregnancy). Like really shaking when she started reading it.

I was nervous and excited, and honestly, the reaction from my in-laws was so touching (DH's dad almost cried he was so happy) that I can't believe I was so nervous!

Good luck!!! We haven't told our parents yet, so I have no advice, but I'm sure your parents will be excited!!

@MrsCastro: I'm going to wait until after my ultrasound on the 27th. I'm such a worry-wart that I don't want to tell them until I'm 12 weeks and I've got confirmation everything still looks good. I'm thinking maybe we can hit up both Hubs Mom and my parents over Labor Day Weekend and tell them.

I was terrified of telling anyone! I know it sounds silly, but one reason was that I was officially outing myself as not a virgin. HAHA. the other is that even though we are 23/24, married, live independently and I have my BA and MA, I still felt like my family was going to judge me for being young.
Some people did - but after a few weeks, everyone was only thrilled! Good luck!!

@Adira: We waited until 12 weeks, too. Up until then, only my sister and one of my best friends (cuz we were at her house in GA when we got the bfp) knew .
@MrsCastro: We announced it to both sets of parents at our annual 4th of July party. I was SO nervous! I was definitely shaking when we told them - my voice was shaking like crazy!

@eiko2010: Glad I'm not the only one! I've told all of you ladies and my two best friends, but no one else knows yet!

I was shaking when we told my inlaws too! We told my parents the next morning and for some reason, I was more relaxed. I think I was still in complete disbelief....I kept feeling like we were playing a joke on them.

Bump this thread to ask when did you guys tell your parents? (What week into your pregnancy?)
I'm 8 weeks and I cannot bear the thought of waiting 2 more loooong weeks to tell them. I think I'm gonna do this weekend. After all, they're family, why wait?

We told my parents and brother basically right after we found out. We gave ourselves the weekend and then told them. We are pretty private and are only now telling a few friends as we see them (14 weeks) but we are close to my family and I know we would definitely want and need their support if something happened.

I can count on one hand the number of people we told when I found out at 10 weeks. DH encouraged me to tell my mom the next day, so I thought about it and did. We didn't tell anyone else and I am so glad, because the Monday after the Friday I found out I ended up in the hospital with a threatened miscarriage and nearly lost the baby...it was hard enough with people doing the guesswork why I was out of work for a week. We officially announced at 16 weeks.

Perhaps a new thread should be started since Mrs. Castro (the OP) unfortunately had a miscarriage? I don't know, just a thought!
