This is my second pregnancy (well, third I guess), I have done countless drug screens in my life, and I still cannot pee in a cup to save my life. Am I the only one who seriously fails at this?

Nope. I fail at it every time, even when I can see what I'm peeing in.

Nope! I suck at it too. I was just thinking this yesterday at my OB appt when I was peeing in the cup. I thought is there some secret about how to do this that I'm unaware of? lol

I've got good aim (can hit those little wondfo cheapies) but I hate peeing in a cup because those little ones they give you fill up really quickly then I don't know what to do to not get pee on the outside or my hand

I seriously suck. I just left the doctor's office and was embarassed at the tiny sample I left for them.

Okay, I'm so glad it's not just me. which makes the bathroom at the Dr office seem that much nastier now... who knows how well the other women clean their hands!

It's not just you. For the life of me, WHYYYY do they give you Dixie cups?! With no table beside you to set it on?
So not only do you pee all over yourself, you're worried about spilling the pee or kicking it over, if you set it on the floor while pulling up your pants.
They should give us red solo cups and a table.

I'm terrible. I've dropped it on the floor, in the toilet, forgotten to use it, overflowed it, barely given them any...yeah, it is bad.

@swurlygurl: This! The soap was just about empty when I was there today. I barely got suds. I reached for the hand sanitizer I keep in my purse afterward.

This tip changed my life: hold the cup so that it's physically touching you. I used to try and hold it down and aim and that was always a disaster. If you hold it so that the rim is touching your skin it's much easier (and not as messy!).

I have to have the cup touching my body like @lawbee11 said or it gets everywhere!

I hold the cup so that it's touching my skin too like @Lawbee11: mentions. Otherwise, it's going to be super messy and none of it will make it into the cup.

Plus, my dr's office uses regular-sized cups! Much nicer than the dixies

It is always an ordeal to try to get a clean catch, for me at least. It's like juggling..-
-.trying to maintain balance hovering over the toilet- while legs are about to give because of non athletic ability
-trying to make sure your pants or skirt is properly hiked so it misses the pee stream and floor (from the previous women before you if any pee on the floor)
-while trying to hold the pee in so you can position yourself properly.
And what happens:
- wet pee hands
- sometimes wet hem of pant
-sometimes wet waistband of pant or skirt
- wet leg
- and less than an eighth of an ounce caught in the cup.LOL I had mega problems.

I told my DH I was worried I did it wrong, and he was like "how hard is it to pee in a cup?". -
@Honeydew: Hahaha, yes, such an awkward balancing act. And then what to do with the freaking cup when you're not done peeing yet and it's dripping?! Ugh.

@swurlygurl - my OB's bathroom had the hand dryer only. The cup itself was wiped with toilet paper. Luckily, their was a cabinet to leave the sample in so I didn't have to walk with it covered in tp to the waiting area.

I'm terrible, too. And I'm under the impression, also, that you can't have the cup touching you for a clean catch.

haha I always have the cup touching me. it's never been an issue?
also, re pee everywhere, I hold my pee, move the cup, continue peeing in the toilet. no mess.
eta: it is possible to hold it without touching skin, but very close. minimal mess

I've gotten better at it but when I was hugely pregnant it was quite the ordeal!

I don't know what a clean catch is...that is just what I do to not get pee on my hand!

I suck too! I always get pee on the outside of the cup. And clean catch? Impossible! They always say my sample is contaminated bc I can't do it right
