So, did/do any of ya'll have a name that you use for the baby before you can give it a real one? Either until you find out the gender or if you're waiting (team green or just don't want to tell people), until the baby arrives? We called our first Stormy (Stormageddon, Doctor Who nerd!), but since we lost that one that name is gone. Part of me regrets losing that name because I loved using it. So now I can't decide when to commit to a name for this one. I can't just wait forever on the off chance something goes wrong, but I hate to do anything too early. Today is 5w3d, which is what I was at when I started bleeding with my second, so I'm thinking maybe if I can just get past today? If you had an official pre-name name, when did you start using it? Also, how did you decide what to call them?

We'll probably do something like "Bort" for our placeholder nickname.

I've been calling him/her Noel. Seems fitting since this is our Christmas miracle baby!

Well, I started by calling him by whatever his fruit/veg comparison was that week "the blueberry" "the sweet pea" "the lemon". Then we started using a unisex names (we were TG), Frances. Eventually he became Bebe, and then at some point my SIL dubbed him McBebe (our last name starts with Mc), and that stuck through the rest of the pregnancy.
D also called him "the parasite", especially during the first half of the pregnancy.

Chloe was bean, and it somehow turned into Bear.
After she was born, we started calling her Chloe Bear, or Chloe B!

I called LO "Jellybaby," then "Mr. Jellybaby" when we knew his gender.

Oh yes, we call it his/her "womb name" since it'll only be used while he/she is still in the womb.

We called her "Cookie" (and each other "Mama Cookie" and "Papa Cookie").

Yes! I called her "Bambina" with a fake Italian accent. Like, "Bahm-Beeeee-nuh". LOL.

Robot. My 4 yo niece said that if it was a girl, we should name her Elise and if it was a boy, we should name him Robot so that he can say "I am a Robot". We found out at 20w it was a boy so Robot it is!

Our first we called Tator Tot, usually shortened to Tot or Tate. We were TG. With this one we named it Potato Puff, shortened to Puff. Can you tell my DH wishes I would buy him tots/puffs! Lol. We started the names pretty early on.
ETA- we are TG again.

We just called it the baby or the parasite (jokingly, of course).

With our first, we just called him "Baby H" or the boss since he could make me do whatever he wanted- vomit, sleep, eat, etc.
This time we are calling #2 "The Kraken" since he has the amazing ability to hit me in multiple places at one time.

After the 12 week scan we started calling him squirmy. He was just so... squirmy!

Since about 10 weeks when I started slathering on cocoa butter DH nicknamed him coco! We call him coco or coca loca all the time. Lol

Bebe Un over here... Not quite sure why we went French with that one. Although lately with bebe playing football with my liver, I've started referring to it as "YOUR child" to my husband

We called her Donatello because she looked like a turtle alien during the NT scan.

As soon as my dad found out our baby is a boy he began calling him Wilbur. That may just stick for the remainder of our pregnancy because I really just don't want to share his name until he is born!
At the beginning we were calling baby "cocoa". It came from a conversation with DH being silly about names.

With our first we just called him baby I think! With our second we started using our girl name even though we were TG. Fortunately she was a girl and didn't have any fetal gender confusion LOL

Everyone called her 'Baby X' or 'Baby ?' Because we weren't sharing the name.

When LO was in womb we called her Nugget or Lu. My BFF called her LO Tug which I loved

We called him Littlebug (hence my username). Or Baby I-- (Hubs's nickname based on our last name).

We jokingly call it "Urchie" because after watching SMEP videos I said it looked like a sea urchin as everything started going down.

Skeletor or Skelly for short. People think we are nuts. But baby looked straight at us during the 20 week ultrasound and really just looked like a crazy skeleton so it's fitting to us.

We called DS Maybe Baby which got shortened to Maybe since we or pregnant with him right after I had a miscarriage. The name stuck for a while!

We called the baby Woog until we found out she was a she. It's a nickname from my husband's childhood pet. I'm sure our next will be called Woog 2 or something like that.

Lol well for the first 10 or so weeks we just called her "the embryo." Then when she became a fetus (which was less amusing to say to us) we started calling her by names derived from whatever veg she was. So she was Avi when she was the size of an avocado. Ted the week of the turnip (ted the turnip? I dunno lol).
Since we found out she is a girl though we just call her baby. And we promise her almost daily that we'll pick a name for her soon. We're down to 5 now and both my mother and husband have taken to just picking one of them to call her at random times. Sometimes multiple in a single day. Yesterday my husband emailed me to tell me to sit on a heater so baby fiona didn't freeze. Then when he got home he asked if baby eva was doing any somersaults haha.

Yeah, we had one, we were team green and it's a name that could be either male of female, depending on how you spell it.

We called LO "baby". We were TG, so we didn't know what we were having. I called him baby after he was born instead of his own name, and now I often call him baby or baby boy more than his name. I guess at 4mo, I should call him his name more often so he knows what it is!

Between me and my BFF - junior (even when we didn't know the sex, it was either a junior of me or a junior of the hubby so why not!)
Between me and my other BFF - Baby ASL (first initial of my name, the hubby's name, and our last name).
Between me and the hubby - the baby (once we found out the sex, it was baby boy).

We were TG and called it Rocco during the entire pregnancy. DH' would have loved a super-Italian first name but I wasn't game, so this was his only time to have that. The big joke was that Rocco might turn out to be a Rockette.
We'll probably do something like "Bort" for our placeholder nickname.
