Have any ladies experienced this? I'm 31 + 1 today and have been kinda worrying about our baby! Will she look ok!? Have all the fingers and toes she's meant to? What if she has a birth mark or they made a mistake and shes a boy not a girl! Or something else wrong. It isn't a constant fear, just a nagging worry the past few days when I let my mind wander.
My sister only made it to 36 weeks and my friend to 35 so maybe it's how close everything is now that's making my mind race?

I think everyone has these thoughts, no? I remember having a dream that she was a shriveled old lady, like the Benjamin Button movie, at birth. I was so horrified!

I had all of those thoughts. I was 100% sure that LO was going to come out with 2 heads or something. I was pleasantly surprised when she came out looking like a cute little baby.... and a who-ha because I was also paranoid they'd be wrong about the sex. But what's wrong with birth marks? LO has a cute little birthmark on her leg, I love it because it makes her different.

I don't have anything against birth marks I have them too I guess I more mean something huge on her face or something? Trust me, it's all irrational and I know it I just can't help myself!
I guess I'm growing more impatient?

@Nskillet: my SIL had the same birthmark fear. She saw a little kid with an almost full-face birthmark and was terrified. (Not of the kid, but of her kid having one!) I don't think it's a horrible fear of being afraid of a child or something, more like, you don't want your kids to ever suffer and a large, obvious birthmark could make the child a target of teasing

@sorrycharlie: exactly! Or more that I did something wrong during these 9 months which wasnt the very best for baby.
I guess I'm just really ready to meet her! It's like a blind date lol

I worry about this stuff, too, but currently my biggest worry is the birth. What if I have bad contractions for like a week? What if I can't get an epidural? What if I have a terrible tear? What if I need a c-section?

@artbee: LO has a birth mark/mole on her arm! It's SOOO cute! I always joke that if I ever lost LO, I would find her by her mole.

@winniebee: Oh my gosh, lately this is on my mind too. What if the contractions are crazy painful but I'm only 1cm dilated so teh hospital insist on sending me home? What if the epidural doesn't take? What if it wears off?
I'm driving myself crazy with this mess.

@winniebee: yes! Me too. I have been oddly calm about the birth itself my fear more lies in the whole "it could happen at anytime" kinda thing. Since being diagnosed with GD and the baby is measuring large (fundal measurements) I can't help but worry she is coming early. While we are prepared with her room etc etc I'm not mentally ready for an early baby I guess. We have a growth scan this Thursday to get a closer look at where she is at but I can't help but obsessively think about how my maternity leave works etc etc and everything else!

@Nskillet: Good luck this week! We are totally unprepared at home for the baby presently - but will be in a few wks after furniture etc is delivered and I have my shower. We literally have no diapers, are lacking in baby clothes, and have nowhere for the baby to sleep! My sister delivered her 1st at 34 weeks, so I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for that, even though I know it's unlikely.

@plantains: That happened to me. I wasn't dilating and they sent me home. I went back an hour later because I couldn't take the pain and insisted on some meds. They gave me a shot in the tush, and five minutes later I was dilating, admitted, and got my epidural.
@Nskillet: I wasn't diagnosted with GD but my baby did measure large. They made me get an ultrasound and they decided she was bigger than average but not so big that I would have to have a c-section. She was 8 lb 13 oz, and came on her due date.

I do have the minor fear that the baby will end up being a boy after we have told everyone its a girl, but I did see it on the ultrasound twice so I just reassure myself that I'm being silly. I just pray everything goes well but there are days when I worry that something will be wrong

ALL the time.
I'm 33 weeks today and my SILs best friend's baby boy was premature and I think it was at 33 weeks that he came. So yes, it technically could be any day now!
There are so so many many chinese superstitions to add to my worries. You're not suppose to use a knife or your baby will have a cleft lip. No hammering. No being around renovations/constructions. Um...we kinda gutted our whole house. Most of the times I can be rational and not worry. But every now and then the worry seeps in and I worry I do something that will cause the disfigurement of my child.
I could personally care less how she looks like, we will love her regardless. But if she's disfigured in some way it will make life harder on her.
And as irrational as this one is; my bday is 5/5 and due date of 4/30. I fear she will come on my birthday or day before or after. I don't care for ME. But what child wants to share a birthday with their mom?? I want her to be able to have her own special day and not have to "Share" it with me!

yes! I worry that "she" will actually be a "he", and we have nothing but girl stuff. We will obviously love her no matter what, but I worry about her having some sort of physical deformity or the possibility of Downs. And don't even get me started on the acutal labor part. I let my mind wander into too many dark places there. I think my most irrational fear/worry is that she'll just refuse to be born and the doctor will let me stay pregnant for a crazy amount of time like 45 weeks or something! haha!

Yes, absolutely! Most things about this pregnancy have been very healthy, but we had a couple of scares. As I get closer and closer to my due date, the nagging fears that something will be wrong with the baby have definitely been coming back. I'm trying to push them out of my mind, but honestly I won't really calm down until I'm holding a healthy baby in my arms.

I had these thoughts too. Something made me think that there would be something wrong with one of her feet, and it turned out that her left foot had been so squished in me that it was a little deformed when it came out (it's perfectly normal now!). There's just the fear of the unknown and the "holy crap, I'm really going to have this baby in a few weeks" feeling that you're going through.

I had a lot of that around week 20 or so- the dating scan was ages ago, the anomaly scan was 3 weeks away, and everyone I met was acting surprised I hadn 't felt any movement yet. I was nearly surprised when the scan showed two healthy heartbeats! I'm over most of it now, but twin 1 is playing shy and keeping her back to us, so I always feel like she's hiding something- probably that she's a he, haha!
