Hi everyone! I'm glad this thread is around. I don't feel ready for the DDC (although I've been reading along), but also don't feel quite right being as active in the Infertility thread.

I can't believe we just found out Thursday. It's been quite a ride already. Life and hormones have made me feel anxious and stressed. Can I share?

We woke up Thursday night to rain coming down us through our ceiling. We live in a small, not super well-maintained, rental home. Friday we got a letter saying our rent was going to be bumped. We said, "Forget it!" and I began the super obsessive hunt for a new rental place. We found a new spot, begged the landlord to take us and our dog, agreed to move in, then woke up the next day and both realized it would be a mistake (much more money, not a lot more space). So now we're sticking to our small spot and I'm obsessed with figuring out how to spruce it up and make it a good nest for the baby.

I got invited to an interview on Thursday, went on Friday, and hated the place. Really disappointing b/c I've worked with the kids there and love them, just not the leadership. I also do freelance work and contacted the head of a project about a current project. She said there is work for at least spring 2015. Still stressed about $$, but feeling better.

I got my first beta done, was told I was off to a slow start. I took encouragement from everyone here and suppressed fears. Second beta came with a positive message and was told to schedule my ultrasound June 3.

It took us a long time to get here, so I don't want to look back and regret spending my first trimester just worried, so I'm working on that. It's still a bit surreal!

@Happygal: I am so glad to see you on here!!!!! I love the fact you guys are spiffing up your place for baby SO fun!!! My DH has been on mega mode lately, in 2 weeks time we purchased a new mattress and box spring, new blinds, and new carpet in all 3 bed rooms, rest of the house is tile......lol it was all things that were going to happen and we have been talking about for months, but I guess his "nesting" daddy hormones kicked in and BAM......lol all done!

When is your next beta or are you done? Soooo exciting!!!! I agree enjoy it, it is surreal, but AMAZING!!!!!

@Happygal: Yay, so happy to see you here! Things are definitely a little more reassuring after the first ultrasound, but it really took me until I started feeling baby daily to relax and remember that he is still in there. You'll get there before you know it

6-weeks today... Trying to relax and enjoy without worrying about anything! My first ultrasound is next week and I know it'll give me peace-of-mind. It really IS so surreal to REALLY be pregnant!!

Not sure why I didn't see this group before!! Happy that I found it.

I'm trying to figure something out! If you say 6 weeks and say 6 days host means you completed 6 weeks and 6 days of the nexy week?

@FaithFertility: thank you! I have never been so happy to have a million things to do ... Hopefully 3pm comes quickly. I am trying to be prepared for whatever happens. I remember with my last one around this time (which led to LO) it took them so long to find anything and that blackness was so scary.

@Happygal: I am so happy to see you here and that ultrasound date is not too far away! I know what you mean about the small place but if it's reassuring we are just now moving out of an apartment ... 3 years after I found out for LO. What matters most is the love you put into it!
I feel like the re is always cautious in their wording - which is hard for me too - but just remember how far you have made it already and that we are all rooting for you!!!

@bhbee: I'll be watching for your update. What a crazy time for you! Are you feeling excited for the move, or totally overwhelmed, or both?

@CatchAFallingStar: hi! How are you feeling about things these days?

Question--for those of you seeing a RE, did you stick with them for the first trimester, or switch right away to your OB/GYN?

I think I want to switch pretty soon. My RE is very competent, but there's no warm fuzzies there, and I could use a little right now--I just want to feel like a normal pregnant person. I also will be seeing a new OB for the first time, so I'd like to build a relationship with her as much as I can.

  24. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@Happygal: I just left my RE on 5/13 at 9 weeks, but I was so upset, they are great! I had to be "cleared" by them for OB to see me! Tell your RE just what you said, you want to start a relationship there, maybe they will clear you faster!

@FaithFertility: Yes. Today I'm 6W1D, so one day past 6 weeks.

@Happygal: I feel just about every emotion under the sun about the move. I know it will be a good thing but sad to leave too.

Quick update for me while we are in the car - I got so nervous in the half hour before but everything looked good. The doctor was great and said right away what she wanted to see and that she saw the sac so we were ok. When she zoomed in we got to see a little embryo measuring 6w and with a teeny heartbeat

I might be MIA for a few days, but then again I might be standing around while the movers are here doing HB on my phone! I guess I also need to call an OB in Dallas ... Crazy in a good way!

  28. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@Happygal: My RE didn't release me right away because of the progesterone, but they had me see an OB around 7-8 weeks for additional care and so I could get a referral to an MFM. I think my previous clinic also mentioned releasing patients around then too. If your RE does additional u/s it might be worth it until you can see an OB! I've found that depending on your history some OBs will be sympathetic and bring you in every other week but they also might not see you until 8 weeks like anyone else.

@Happygal: I made the switch at 10 weeks. It's nice to be in the "normal" crowd now, but I do miss being spoiled by ultrasounds every couple of weeks at the RE!

@bhbee: That's wonderful news from the ultrasound! Good luck with the movers and the trip to Dallas.

How are you girls in the first tri feeling? I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and finally feeling like I have some energy and my appetite back!

  32. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@bhbee: yeah! Ahh....tiny little heart beat. What a miracle.

@spaniellove: thanks. How are you feeling?

@thisisme: how many ultrasounds did you have with your RE? I'm glad you feeling better now!

I'm feeling fine, which (of course) makes me feel worried! My boobs are sore, but that could be from the progesterone. I have hints of nausea, but it's really like faint yucky feelings. Every now and then I get a little panicked feeling, like I should be eating a special diet or exercising a certain way or taking pictures of things, but then I try to calm myself down by thinking of this as a race--you always want to take the first mile easy, right?

  33. bhbee

    cantaloupe / 6086 posts

@Happygal: I think you have the right attitude! Your symptoms sound right on track to me. It's hard in the beginning when they are faint, but most people don't really get full ms until 6-7 weeks so something to look forward to

Hope you have some things to keep you busy until June 3, that is a hard wait! You can always come vent here

@bhbee: Ha! That's funny b/c when I booked the appt. for June 4, my husband said, "That's so soon!"

My husband has been so sweet and funny. Here are other things he's said:

Day 1 of finding out: how do you know? Is this possibly a false positive? When was the IUI? Do we need to move? Let's take this slow. It's not like a light bulb that just turns on--we can ease into this.

Day 2, first thing in the morning: when do babies start crawling?

Later that day--do we need to take a pregnancy class? Do you want to do lamaze?

Day 3: (I went to the bathroom early in the morning.) Are you ok? Did you go throw up?

Yesterday: (As he's leaving for work.) I feel ok with dying now since the B family legacy will continue. Bye!

@FaithFertility: early nesting is a good thing! We're doing a big organizing the house event this weekend. My husband has declared he will be the boss. Ok honey, go for it! Do you think your dog knows you're pregnant? They said I could do another beta, but I've decided just to wait until the ultrasound on June 4.

@mrs. someone: it's fun to be in a little group with you again! How are you feeling?

@FaithFertility: ohhh, that is so sweet! I love when dogs curl up like that. Are people scared of her b/c she's a pit bull? I have a German Shepherd, and people are definitely frightened by her appearance, even though she's a big baby.

@Happygal: Yes, we have a little shitzu-poo too he is a cutie but he is the mean one....lol when a plumber or what have you comes to the house, I kennel the little guy and leave out the Pit-bull....lol he can get feisty!!!

I swore I would never complain about pregnancy symptoms, but I am sooooo tired!!! I am a first grade teacher and between feeling light headed, dizzy, nausea, and tired all day teaching the kiddos is soooo hard, I am in bed every night by 6:30

Only 7 more work days until Summer!!!!!!!!!!! Just keep swimming is my mantra
