While I don't actually have anything specific to start writing about today, it has come to my attention that pregnancy after infertility is not exactly the same for those of us who didn't get pregnant easily, and it would be great to have a place where all of us over-worriers could go for advice, suggestions and understanding - a place to talk about beta tests, early ultrasounds and more. If you're interested, feel free and join in!

I've mentioned this elsewhere but I have my last beta tomorrow and I'll find out after then when my first ultrasound will be. I'm looking forward to some good news tomorrow so I be a little less anxious about losing the pregnancy.

Yes, thank you for this! After ttc for 13 months with a previous m/c, I am 6 weeks pregnant. First ultrasound is in 2 days and I'm excited, but also terrified!

And @MrsCB and I were totally just talking about this! @marionberry: To answer your question from the other thread, my first beta last week was 46.5, and today it is 172!
Here's hoping that my third beta this Thursday is even higher!

Just want to pop in and say congrats to all of you!
Pregnancy after IF can be so nervewracking at times, but try to soak it in and enjoy it. When you meet your LOs via ultrasound and then in person, they are completely worth the struggle, time, money, heartache. And you can't wish it away bc then it wouldn't be the LO you're carrying. Wishing you all the best.

@MrsCB: With each day that passes it gets a little easier. Your first ultrasound will be amazing and will certainly quench the worry for at least a week or two. I'm sure your newest betas will come back great!
@Lilteacherbee: I remember that I didn't let myself get too excited about the pregnancy until the ultrasound and I think in the ultrasound I was still in shock, but afterward, when we walked out of the clinic I turned to DH (who had almost cried in the office) and said, "wow, we're really having a baby!" It's an amazing moment and you'll really enjoy it.
@sweetooth: I calculated and that's right around doubling every two days, so that's perfect! I hope your third beta gives you final peace of mind and you can start worrying about your first ultrasound!

@grace: Thanks!!Since most of you are just beginning this journey, I'll tell you that from my own experience you'll be an insane worry wart from now until probably when the baby starts kicking, but it will progressively get easier over time. If you have any worries or concerns I'm happy to give advice (at least up until the 15 weeks I'm at now).

@marionberry: I hope so! The last time I had an ultrasound is when we found out about our missed miscarraige at 9 weeks. It was the single worst day of my life and I'm just so nervous!

@lilteacherbee: That's probably the hardest part of all of this for me (or at least it was in that stage) of just having hope when nothing can assure you you should. I didn't have a miscarriage previously, but I just swore I'd go in and hear bad news. The odds are though that everything is perfect. I'll be praying for good news for you!

After 24 months TTC, diagnosed with PCOS amongst other health concerns, I'm 21 weeks pregnant with our first.
It really is a different ball game being pregnant after infertility...it is so hard for me to believe that after all the trouble we had getting here, that things might actually be okay with this pregnancy. -
@marionberry: thank you! I'm trying so hard to be positive. My dr said she would be very surprised if this one was a m/c (the first one was due to a chromosomal fluke). At work, there are 2 other ladies due within 2 weeks of me and they don't understand why I'm so nervous. It's just hard when it's been so long with so much heartache!

I'm 25 weeks pregnant after 3 IVF's (two fresh, one frozen, an early miscarriage and an ectopic) It was so hard for me to think that this time it was actually going to work. The best advice I got from my RE when I "graduated" to the OB was that at some point I had to start believing in this pregnancy. I decided from that moment on I would believe. I spent so much time dreading beta's, ultrasounds and phone calls and decided I did not want to spend the next 9 months in a constant state of worry. Don't get me wrong, I still worry. But I am also really enjoying being pregnant and remind myself how thankful I am to have gotten this far. -

@lilteacherbee: I have two friends who are both pregnant (although they're about 2 months ahead of me) and they don't get it either. A lot of things they say I just want to smack them, lol.
@brady80: That was great advice! I'm so glad you shared that. I think graduating from my RE helped me realize I had pretty good odds but you're right, some worry still remains. -

Good luck everyone! I agree that you'll still worry until the second tri or maybe even viability, but try to enjoy each moment! There's a blog group called PAIL pregnant or parenting after infertility or loss. Check it out of you'd like to read other stories.

I will join! We lost our first daughter after 20 wks and it took us 8 months to get pregnant again. We are currently 10 wks and trying to take it a day at a time.

@marionberry: this is such a great idea. I'm struggling big time with still waiting for the other shoe to drop. However, I'm buying a Doppler off my BF so I hope that helps. I feel like I worry all day and then my dreams get crazy.

I'm not currently pregnant but I have had two successful pregnancies after infertility. I just wanted to say that worrying about your pregnancies is totally normal. I was freaked out my entire first pregnancy that I would never get to meet my boys. I think my worries during pregnancies was just the beginning. Now they are here and there are all kinds of things to worry about. Congrats to all you future mamas!!

Congrats, ladies! I'm w @Mrs. Train:... Not currently pregnant but had my twins after 3-4 years of trying. The worry never goes away, but you do get to feel such joy holding your lo!
@ladybee: the Doppler was the one thing that helped ease my fears! Every time I'd get a lil worried, I pulled out my best friend and eased my fears hearing the lil heartbeats!

@marionberry: I'm still an insane worrywart at 28 weeks pregnant when I don't feel the baby kick enough!
I will feel better when I meet my baby in June. IF made me into even more of a worrywart than I already was.

Hi Guys-
Good to see so many familiar faces here I'm 27 weeks with b/g twins and still terrified of losing one or both. My anxiety throughout this pregnancy has been really intense, to the point where I started seeing a therapist. I've also yet to make it between my regular 2-week appointments without an unscheduled ultrasound or trip to L and D (literally, the longest I've made it is 11 days without an ultrasound. Me=CRAZY.) So, basically, I think you all need to do whatever you have to do in order to help relieve the anxiety.
I am hoping for easy and healthy pregnancies for you all!! -
I'll join. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant after 18 months of trying and finally Clomid. My worry is pretty well gone now but it took the entire first trimester to really feel like this pregnancy was real. I always thought I'd go to my next appt and I would have been dreaming and I wasn't really pregnant.

@swedishfish: Oh man don't say that...that means I will be too ;). I agree that IF makes you so much more of a worry wart. I am not usually like this at all.
@trailmix: Hey if it takes recurrent ultrasounds to make you feel better, all the power to you! The cool part of that is at least getting to see your babies all the time! I bet you have a lot of photos. I'm sure everything will be just fine but really glad you joined!
@jetsa: I agree that my worry is gone a lot more now in the second trimester than in the first, but I still do the doppler every other day just to keep from worrying. If I didn't have that, I think the worry would be SO much worse. -
Got my last beta draw today and my numbers were perfect! I was so incredibly anxious today, thinking I needed to prepare for the worst. But everything is fine :). I also scheduled my first ultrasound for 2 weeks from today. I seriously can not wait! Hopefully it'll be a little while before I start to worry too much again.

@MrsCB: That's fabulous! How many weeks will you be at your first ultrasound? I had my first at 6w4d I think and I could already see my "worm", the yolk sac, and hear/see the heartbeat. It was amazing! That will definitely give you confidence.

@marionberry: 7w3d. They won't do it any sooner than that, unfortunately. The last time I talked to the nurse she insisted they couldn't see anything before then, which I know of course isn't true. I have a feeling that since you may or may not get a heartbeat before 7 weeks, they don't like to do it before then.
