I'm starting to get kind of mad at my clinic. As in my fertility clinic, still. Tomorrow is 13 weeks and I thought I might get to stop the PIO soon but the nurse called and said that in order to wean me off I'll have to stay on it at least through 16-17 weeks. That's nonsense!

ETA: F that. (Sorry for expletive, I am upset) I left a voice mail for the nurse and told her I just can't do it anymore. I've been doing the injections for almost two months now and she's telling me to do them for another month when I'm allergic to the oil from the constant exposure and have been taking Benadryl every day. Switching the oil won't help because I'll become allergic to that too.

@spaniellove: it sounds like you have every reason to be upset! You constantly breaking out in hives cannot be good for either you or baby. I hope you can get off of these things ASAP.

@spaniellove: what the heck are they thinking? this makes no sense. i would maybe just stick with what your ob/mfm says and forget the RE

@raintreebee: She called back and said to start taking Endometrin 2x/day. I'll take it once a day at most and not for more than a week. Don't know if I'll bother going back for bloodwork or anything at this point. BTW...totally unrelated, but did you do a sequential screen and have totally normal first trimester results?

@mrs.someone: OMG! So happy to hear you're pregnant. I get not feeling comfortable to join your thread yet, but it's a really fun experience. You'll love it when you do.
@runnerd: It's so much fun to see you pregnant again. I'm happy to hear things seem to be going well thus far.
@spaniellove: You always seem to have the worst clinics and experiences. I'm so sorry that that consistently drains your pregnancy experience. I think it's great that you advocate for yourself, and it's important to try to take a little time to bond with baby too. DH and I loved reading that pregnancy book which details what's going on week by week. It really helped us stop and think about the baby and delight in milestones. I liked to take my car rides to work as a fun time to sing to the baby and have conversations with him as he was sitting here too.
@apex: I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your little one, but I do hope that it happening naturally was easier for you than having to make that painstaking choice. I wish for you that the rest of your pregnancy is completely stress free and you can just get ready for how busy you'll be with two little ones.

I'm sorry that I don't get on HB often enough lately to comment day-to-day (blame a full time job and full time baby) but I really want you to know that I understand how difficult this stretch of time is and how sometimes the worries seem to cloud the fun of being pregnant. But do really make an effort to ignore anything bad/stressful/worrisome that is going on every so often to delight in the fact that you made it here. You may not have won the race yet, but so far you're winning and that's something to be proud of. I love seeing all of you make it to birthing your little ones. These IF babies are such miracles! I can't believe it was the day after Christmas that we created our little one via IUI and now he's snoozing next to me after rolling over for the first time.

    @raintreebee: @LovelyPlum: @twodoghouse: @marionberry: Thanks ladies!

I have a question for all of you... I have a dentist appointment this afternoon. I know they're going to want to do x-rays because I've told them no the past few times (always seems to fall during the TWW). I forgot to ask my ND when I talked to her today. Should I let them x-ray, or tell them no again?

  16. raintreebee

    pear / 1531 posts

@Mrs.Someone: I would definitively tell them no. My dentist won't X-ray me during pregnancy.

  17. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@raintreebee: Ok, good to know. I'll probably have to tell them why, I just hesitate because its so so early. And I've been going to this practice for a long time so I know they will be excited for me. Maybe I'll try to act like a normal pregnant lady and just try and enjoy the happiness, forget the worry?

  18. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Mrs.Someone: Technically they say it's ok because they cover you but I opted out of dental x-rays while I was pregnant. If they've let you opt out before I see no reason while they wouldn't let you do it now. And yes, let them congratulate you. You'll love it!

@kentuckygirl: Thank you! I'm trying to keep as positive as possible.

I see my ND tomorrow. I doubt she will want to do betas (she will if I ask), but I think I want to skip it this time. I do want her to keep an eye on my thyroid and progesterone though. I figure as long as both are doing well, there is nothing else that can be done at this point, so I'd just rather wait and think all is well. My perio's office mentioned an ultrasound either at 6 or 7 weeks (depending on which nurse?) 6 weeks is Xmas week, so I might have a hard time getting it done before then anyway. And I have a family event the weekend before, with house guests, so I'd rather not be tempted to tell people, or sad/anxious if something isn't perfect.

@Apex: I bet it was exciting telling people about your pregnancy! We initially told closest family and friends who knew we were doing IVF but we have now started telling more people. It has really helped me be more excited and make the pregnancy feel more "real"!

I realized today that my ND is going to ask me what kind of provider I want to see. I called the midwife practice I've been stalking for a long time (seriously, for about 2 years). No dice, they don't take patients on blood thinners. I'm a little sad that I won't be able to deliver with a midwife, but also relieved that I'm being forced to go to an OB who will likely be doing more testing. I think I'll still be going to the Perio too. I'm going to ask both my ND and Perio for recommendations on natural birth friendly OBs. Maybe I'll get a doula too if I feel I need more support. DH is probably going to be happy that there will be no midwife involved, hah.

  32. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@Mrs.Someone: the perio won't let you just see him? If not, it sounds like asking your ND and Perio for recommendations is a good idea. You've finally found a good team on your side, so hopefully they can bring in another provider who will also be on board with your protocol!

  33. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@LovelyPlum: I'm not high risk enough for him to be my primary provider (thankfully). I think I'll still see him regularly throughout the pregnancy, he just wont deliver.

I found a OB practice on Yelp that looked good, and it turns out that its the same one my ND sends people to and she loves them. So as long as the 6w ultrasound goes well, I'll make an appointment with them.

Now I have to sit tight for about 2 weeks until then... I'm going to wait until next week to make the ultrasound appointment.

    @MrsMccarthy: Thank you!

I feel so loved to have so many people who have been watching and pulling for me

@marionberry: I think the one I found will be a good place for me. They both support VBACs and list RPL as something they treat. Hopefully its a best of both worlds situation. It helps that I'm in Seattle which is full of nature-minded hippies

  39. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@Mrs.Someone: You shouldn't have too much trouble because like you said, you're in Seattle, but don't be afraid to switch until you get what you're looking for. Have you also tried searching local pregnancy forums? I found a lot of OB-related discussions there.

  40. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@spaniellove: I haven't thought about looking for forums, but I found a ton of 5 star reviews for several doctors at this practice, so that plus my ND liking them is probably good. And they're relatively close! I don't think they deliver at the hospital I want to be at, but its not a big deal at least, since I think they deliver at a good one.
