I'm getting a lot of headaches. The past few days I've gone to bed with a head ache, and have one again the second I wake up. I'm trying to avoid taking tylenol as much as possible.
Any tips?

How far along are you? How is your blood pressure? And do you usually drink coffee/soda a lot and you've cut off cold turkey?
Sometimes a bit of caffeine helps me, but it may be worth it to take the Tylenol for relief.

I had horrible headaches in the beginning. First, don't worry TOO much about the Tylenol- I know I did but I was at te point of feeling super nauseous from the pain and I can't imagine that was good for the baby either.
Non med things that helped me a lot: soft ice pack to the back of my neck while laying down in the dark; hot wet washcloth over my face and breathing in the hot steam; neck and should massage.
The biggest thing though was acupuncture. It took six sessions and it fixed my headaches for months- I went from at least one really bad headache a week, usually more, to a small handful for the rest if my pregnancy. I can't recommend it highly enough! Just tell the acupuncturist that you are pregnant because they will avoid certain spots.

I took Tylenol (at the doctor's recommendation) and had a little bit of caffeine. Are you staying hydrated? That's another headache trigger for a lot of people.

I get tension headaches (even when not preg), and I've just been taking Tylenol when they get bad this pregnancy

I had to drink over 80oz of fluid (mainly water) if I wanted to avoid a headache. On the occasion that didn't work I'd drink a can of pop and take Tylenol.

I drank a ton of water, took Tylenol, and had some caffeine. I hated to take Tylenol, but the pain was past the point where I could deal with it.

Drink lots of water and use an ice pack. I have chronic migraines and that was my remedy while I was pumping.

I had to take tylenol. When they would turn into migraines my OB prescribed me Tylenol 3 so I kept one small prescription for those occasions.

What's with the anti-Tylenol hate crowd? Most of us did not go to med school and I'm sure we all trust out doctors with our health and that of our unborn babies, so if they say Tylenol is ok, take a Tylenol!

Thanks all. I've been drinking a ton of water, but maybe I'll try a little caffeine! I love coke.. haha.
@Pink Champagne: I wouldn't say I'm part of a tylenol hate crowd, haha! I just like to avoid taking it if I can.. since I'd be taking a few a day if I took them whenever I had a head ache, which I wouldn't want to do pregnant or not

@Pink Champagne: paranoia and guilt mixed with a healthy dose of hormones. My head knew it was fine but I still felt like I was dosing my baby up with something she wasn't supposed to have.

I know you want to avoid Tylenol, but there were several days where the *only* thing that would touch my headaches were a dose of Tylenol and a can of Coke (for the caffeine...I wasn't a coffee drinker). That being said, if they are tension headaches, ice packs or heat to the back of your neck might help. A nap usually helped as well.

I've been fighting a really bad headache last night and this morning, and I think I've gotten it at bay with tylenol, a warm washcloth, and also nasal saline spray--I think this one is a sinus headache

@Pink Champagne: Generally I hate Tylenol because it doesn't seem like it works as well as Advil. Plus, like @Mrs. Champagne, I try not to take meds for a headache of something else will help first.

I've been getting some bad headaches, too but have tried to keep off the Tylenol (only taken 1 500mg tablet two different days). I've been trying to drink lots of water and when I feel a headache coming on, I try to have some sugar (via apple juice) and/or a little caffeine. I'll also have DH massage my neck/head/face and sometimes use a cold compress. Usually one of those helps and if it gets to be too much I just go for the Tylenol.

i did tylenol when needed, ice, but the thing that helped the most for me was going to the chiropractor!

I had a headache for almost the whole first four months. I mostly just tolerated it, but I took tylenol a couple of times. I probably could have/should have taken more, since it really is considered safe during pregnancy.
Ice compresses also help a little...as did vomiting
