Has anyone had periods of super fast heartbeat?
My HB is typically really low (50s) but I just had my heart feel like it was going to jump out of my chest and it was above 120 - I was sitting down.
Is this common in the third trimester?

hmm.. I didn't have this happen in either of my pregnancies - probably best to call your doctor just to check and let him/her know! hope it was nothing!

Not common. Not necessarily bad depending in situation, but I'd recommend getting it checked out.

I had this same thing happen to me a few weeks back. Scared the day lights out of me. I think it was because I had been rushing around all day and then finally sat down. It was hours after I had been shopping and came out of nowhere! I think it's pretty normal. Our hearts are working overtime.

I had it first trimester. Went to a cardio doc because it got so bad. He did ekg, echo and monitor and all was good. He said that during pregnancy you have so much fluids that your heart works harder. Said I would see it go away mostly during 2nd trimester and possibly return 3rd trimester. Which is exactly what has happened for me. Mine seems to be worse when I lay on my left side. For sure let your doctor know. Try keeping a log so you can pinpoint when or what is causing it.

I never felt it but when I would monitor my blood pressure, a lot of time my HR/pulse would be through the roof.

@MrsH: happened to me when my iron was low. Racing heart and shortness of breath.
Could also be a bloodflow thing? I'd bring it up at your next appt, or call to ask about it.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: now that you mention it I had a random bloody nose and bleeding gums today so maybe it is just an increased blood flow thing.

Like @Mrs. Oatmeal, it was a low iron issue for me. Anemia is pretty common in pregnancy, so I would talk to your dr about getting on supplements if you test positive.
