@gingerbebe: I second @Boogs: do u have appts around the same time? Hoping u r worried for no reason.

@gingerbebe: at least u can get baby stuff pre-tax!
@pancakes: o but it was so good eating it, no? I feel like that after lots of my meals...
nectarine / 2180 posts
@tequiero21: umm, yes, it was so good while I was eating it! but I think I need to throw away the rest of the Easter candy in the house. some well meaning people felt the need to give my LO like 20 lbs of candy and guess who is eating it all???
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Pancakes: I feel sick almost every time I eat now. I get ridiculously full after a few bites and its like REALLY??? Doesn't matter what it is. At least you enjoyed that chocolate while it lasted!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: My birthday is Sep 2nd! I always liked it because of Labor Day. I always get a long weekend for my birthday!

@Torchwood: my bday and my husbands are both on the 2nd (May and August). Chloe's bday is the 21st and so is my brothers (different months). I'm a nerd and thought it was cool coincidences.
Not entirely baby related, but we asked my brother and my sister and law to be godparents! They were pretty excited.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I like those kinds of number things! I was pleased with our anniversary (5/23) because it's prime numbers. That fact is also the only thing that allows me to remember our anniversary, because I constantly confuse it with the day the first Star Wars movie came out (5/25).

Vent: my cousin and his wife are expecting their second child. They are due four days before I am. We both want repeat c-sections, so theoretically she should have their daughter before we have ours.
My nana and his nana are sisters-in-law. Everyone is pitting us against each other. If she's due before me, why did I know before her that I was pregnant? If I knew first, why did I announce after them? Why was my anatomy scan before theirs? When will I know if I'm having my baby first?
STOP. Make it all stop. I don't care. My cousin doesn't care. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: That would drive me nuts. Why?? Add that to my silver linings on the timing of my m/c's. I would have been due within a couple of weeks of a cousin with both of them.
Between stress and nesting, I'm going a bit nuts on the OCD front. I just folded all my plastic grocery bags, and I'm planning on working on getting all my yarn (several boxes worth) rolled into balls soon. Whatever helps, right?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Torchwood: it really does drive me crazy. Someone asked me why I'm bigger than cousin. I don't know? We aren't more or less pregnant than each other because I've got a bigger bump.
So that's nesting? Ha! I didn't nest with Chloe. Today my husband asked my why I'm throwing everything out. I got an itch to clear out clutter & have made so many trash and donation bags. I guess I'm nesting too.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I figure it is. I'm with you on the de-cluttering! We've got 4 BIG bins of stuff to get rid of. At this point we're planning a garage sale then donate the rest. And we're not done unpacking yet, and I haven't even touched any clothes or shoes.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Torchwood: I had every intention of cleaning out Chloe's drawers and closet today, but sorely underestimated how large our bedroom furniture is. My husband is installing new floors in our bedroom, so our furniture has been taken apart and is taking up three rooms of the house! I can't even walk in the nursery & Chloe's room is a disaster.
I didn't get to clean the house as well as I had hoped to today, but on the plus side it feels like we are starting fresh on the bedroom... Which means it's the perfect opportunity to clean out the closet & drawers, and move around furniture!

Did everyone have a good weekend? The weather here was gorgeous and we got to do some city walking both yesterday and today. It's one of the things I like best about living here (almost makes the HCL worth it!). I have a 2-part final due in one of my classes tomorrow and I'm struggling to stay motivated. I would rather just catch up on Mad Men I have my a/s tomorrow morning and I'm very excited/anxious about it, so that's also making it hard to concentrate on my schoolwork.

I've been dealing with chronic migraines the last few weeks and have been managing to fend one off the last few days (dull headache that wants to become a migraine but I won't let it). It's annoying. I felt headachy Friday but made it through Bible study, then slept in yesterday and then went out to dinner. Still headachy last night so slept heavily again but ran errands after lunch with DH (Costco, Target, etc.) and visited some model homes for fun. So not a super eventful weekend but at least not a complete waste.
nectarine / 2180 posts
@gingerbebe: ugh, have you always had migraines or is this a new thing with pregnancy? Hope you get some relief soon!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Pancakes: I wish we'd done some walking! We were going to, but we forgot/ran out of time yesterday, and today there are storms moving in so no way. DH did have his kickball game today (they won 10-1!), but it started raining right after we got there so I stayed in the car (I could still see the game) with the dogs. But overall a good weekend. DH surprised me Friday by calling on his way home from work and telling me to dress up cause we were going to dinner. Of course he forgot that I have pretty much no dressy maternity clothes, but I made it work.
Struggling right now with finding a comfortable position to sit in. Anything other than perfect posture and leaning forward slightly is making it hard to breathe. And I have super awful posture, so sitting up really straight makes my back hurt fairly quickly. Oh well, I've been meaning to work on my posture anyway.

@Torchwood: why don't u look into a pregnancy support belt? It helped me with my first pregnancy.
@gingerbebe: are u planning to buy a house or like to look at model homes to get decorating ideas?
@Pancakes: weekend was good! Went to visit hubby and used the hotels indoor pool with the kids. First time in a real pool and they loved it! That was fun. Today, had the kids to myself, so very tiring.

@Torchwood: ugh, I need to work on my posture too!
@Pancakes: Sounds like you had a good weekend! Ours was pretty lazy, which is always nice!! Are you finding out the gender today!? That's exciting!
@gingerbebe: Sorry to hear about your headaches - what a bummer! I get migraines also, but have luckily managed to not get any so far during pregnancy. *knock on wood* Hope you're feeling better today!

Wanted to share my two great craigslist finds for the baby!
Found this rocker/ottoman set for $50! We'll get a cover for it if we have a girl, keeping the print if we have a boy. Amazing condition and so comfortable! I couldn't believe he sold it for so low! He said he got over 100 emails about it, so I'm feeling pretty thankful and lucky!
This isn't as good of a deal, but I'm still pumped about it. We're picking up a mamaroo tonight! Got the swing and infant insert for $150 from a sale group on facebook. We really wanted this swing because our house is tiny and it'll take up less space than a traditional tripod swing. Slowly but surely getting there!

Had a busy weekend with a scare thrown in. Was having a lot of cramping that was becoming kind consistent on Saturday night. Luckily it stopped and doctor didn't seem too concerned but it was very worrisome at the time! I think there is a lot of expansion going on lately so its probably just stretching and moving, but its hard to convince yourself of that when you are freaking out!

@Littlebit: Those are great deals! I love that rocker! We got the mamaroo for the same reason and hope LO loves it!

I've never heard of the Mamaroo, looks pretty cool. I need to go through what we need to buy and start making a list, I'm definitely getting a bouncy seat for each floor so I've got somewhere to put baby down. And I'm also going to get a newborn set for our Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, I like that the baby will be high up and able to see what I do in the kitchen or at the dinner table.

It's been almost 4 weeks since my last appointment, have the next one + anatomy scan on Monday so am in that weird place where I'm getting worried and find myself checking dopplers on Amazon at least once a day. My placenta is anterior so not feeling much movement yet, there is some but it's pretty inconsistent so not enough to reassure me...
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@London Mama: We are leaning towards the Tripp Trapp too! But I don't think we're gonna get the newborn insert - I think we'll wait a few months until he's ready to start eating solids (or ask Santa for it!)
As for baby gear, we're gonna see if we can wing it with a rock n' play initially. Its higher up than a bouncer so we can look down at the baby comfortably from a chair or from bed and it can rock and vibrate too. I really hope we don't have a baby that needs a swing - those things take up SO much room! And the Mamaroo is pricey! @LittleBit you definitely got a steal! If our kid needs something after its born, we'll be on Craigslist too!
DH and I were talking about our registry and how because the baby will be born in September, we could probably push some of our registry items to December as a Christmas list. So we're trying to divide the list between things we really need right away and things that can come later. Plus BIL is having a son in June, so while I would never assume anything, its possible we might get some hand me downs, at least for clothes.
@London Mama: I have an anterior placenta and I'm over 20 weeks now and I have not yet noticeably felt my baby either! I do have a doppler that I bought on Ebay and he's big enough now where I can pick up his heartbeat pretty quickly, but I'm hoping I can feel him soon. I did see from our last few ultrasounds that he likes to sleep and doesn't really move around much during the day anyhow, so perhaps that's part of why I don't feel him much. Hope you get a swift kick in the gut soon!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Littlebit: great steals! We got the mamaroo but had to return it because the kids hated it. We got it on sale for like 160 bux too. O well. I liked it a lot more than my kids.
@London Mama: we got two of those for my kids. I don't think I'll get one for the next kid though. I don't think I would get it again either, if I had to do it again. They need a better way to hold down toddlers. And my kids have fallen sideways moving around. I got it from recommendation from my bro. His kids seem to use it fine. I think it's just my wild kids.
@gingerbebe: technically, they say u can put things u need for the first two years on the registry. Also, if u want clothes from your bil, I'd ask. My sil kept all the clothes for her next child. Unless your bil is done. She is finally ready to give me baby clothes for this next one, score! I'm not sure where all my baby stuff went.

@gingerbebe: My DH is the same, which causes a lot of pressure on me! At the moment I'm in grad school, and we are working to send him when we can (his programme is uber competitive, so it will likely take a couple of years of him studying part time extra classes etc). This means that I technically have the freedom to choose what I want, but instead use a bunch of self-restraint!

Oh, and I forgot to mention! Our anatomy scan was finally booked (my midwife/OBGYN office have their own tech so don't book until a week or 2 before). May 5th!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@tequiero21: Its weird, but my DH's family really insists on having a brand new wish list for each holiday. They don't like looking at the same things on a list and even complain about the things we put on our lists (we're super practical so my in-laws think our gift lists are too boring). So we actually have to keep a private master wish list and then slowly move stuff over at our birthdays or Christmas to get what we want over the course of the year. I don't expect it to be different for our kids. Its super inconvenient, but its what they want. Thankfully my Korean family will probably just send us money and tell us to blow it on whatever we want!
I'm not worried about baby clothes, hand me downs or not. We go to church and we're already getting used baby junk on our doorstep - whether we want it or not! Plus, between DH's family shop-happy family and my family getting their first grandchild/greatgrandchild, there will be no shortage of toys and clothes for this kiddo.
DH and I have had a weird thought recently, which is: what if this is the only pregnancy/infant baby experience we ever have? It took us 3 years to get pregnant with this one and while we definitely want more kids, this pregnancy has been hard (and will probably only get harder the older I get) and we're very open to adoption. So while its strange to think about, its very possible this might be our one and only pregnancy or newborn experience.
Its definitely made us think about how we're experiencing this pregnancy. Suddenly its not as simple as "buy the cheapest thing since the baby is just going to outgrow it in 5 minutes" or "buy the nicest or most gender neutral thing, since we can pass it down to the next baby." Because this might be it! I dunno, it just made me a lot more intentional about what we want to do and experience in the next 20 weeks. I never kept a pregnancy journal and I have no bump photos. Will I regret that? Should we take maternity photos? Stuff like that. I still don't think we're going to do an infant nursery, but now I want a nicer, very BOY crib sheet, or buy a few more really nice outfits just to hide away as a keepsake.
Sorry to ramble, its just something that's been on my mind this weekend...

@gingerbebe: I think that makes a lot of sense! We're planning (hoping) to have more but there is always the possibility that this could be it.

Have a lot more to say, but just wanted to check in really quickly before I get back to working on my final!
Had our a/s this morning. Had the appt timed so I could drop off LO at school and be back to pick her up by noon. I managed to hit a median going around a curve and blew out a tire on the way to the appt. Luckily the radiology place had a slightly later appt and we called roadside assistance and they were able to put on the spare (DH tried to change it but I think they put the lug nuts (?) on too tight when I had my tires rotated last).
Anyway, long, stressful morning short, we finally made it, baby looks perfect and LO is getting a sister! Hooray for ! I think DH may have been slightly disappointed (can't blame him) but after 2 m/cs I am truly thankful for a healthy baby.
Apparently I have a low-lying placenta so they want me to come back in 8 weeks to follow up. And baby was a stinker with her hands in front of her face the entire scan.
But, my exam awaits! I'll be back later...I have questions about this mamaroo!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@farawayviolet: yay! In just a week!
@gingerbebe: we were the same way... Before we got pregnant w twins. I wasn't sure I would ever experience pregnancy. Took us over 4 years to have our los. We were going to do one ivf and then most likely adopt. Then, god blessed us w twins! And now another little one. family is family, no matter how it is made up.
Btw, that's so funny about your in laws.
@Pancakes: congrats on another (?) little girl!!! I'm kinda sad my daughter won't have a sister cuz I've always wanted one. Good luck on your exam!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@tequiero21: hah, yes, another girl. DD is 3. She has been so excited about the baby but today when we tried to tell her she was going to have a sister, she couldn't have cared less!

@Pancakes: aw yay! Finally another girl to add the team pink! Congratulations

@psw27: glad it turned out to be nothing! pregnancy can be so stressful.
So, my DD (I can say DD#1 now, right? how fun!) loved her swing when she was a baby, especially the side-to-side motion. But we had a swing like this http://www.toysrus.com/buy/baby-swings/ingenuity-cradle-sway-swing-bella-vista-7064-11525664 which as you can see is pretty large. In our current house we just don't really have a lot of space for a big swing, so I wonder if the mamaroo would be a good investment...
pomelo / 5220 posts
@pancakes thanks. It was really stressful, sigh. and congrats on baby girl! Yay! I can't wait to find out tomorrow!
@gingerbebe that makes a lot of sense about kind of "savoring" this pregnancy... I've been doing bump pictures and every time I am like ugh I don't feel like it, I think about how I would regret it if I didn't do it!
@London mama that's a really cool chair! I am undecided if I want a high chair or if we should just do booster seats. Of course, as I've mentioned before - I haven't done anything to register or research (still! what is wrong with me?!).
pomelo / 5220 posts
@littlebit great deals! My DH wants a mamaroo but I'm not sure if we "need" one.... another thing to research!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@psw27: I've been having some cramping thruout the pregnancy. I agree it prolly has to do w stretching n growing.
