@StrawberryBee: true I know we have lots of time but it feels like it's going fast! I have my forms I'm suppose to register by 28 weeks which is next week! oops.
@pmh2400: Welcome!
@Bibliolove: Nice! It feels good to get it sorted.
@matador84: the first few months you don't really need it but i'm thinking more for diaper changes and clothes storage. I would kinda let to get that organised soon. It is going by fast and if you had your last one early it's probably good to be prepared.
@Boopers: My DD was a terrible room sharer. She was such a noisy sleeper she kept us up at night. Now there is no chance of co-sleeping what so ever. If we bring her to bed she just has a party.
@Mamag511: how did the big girl bed transition go? we're debating whether we do it before or after the baby. Leaning towards after since she's such a monkey in bed right now. Our form is mostly about previous births, what type of room you'd like, if you want to sign up for any classes etc.

@pmh2400: welcome and congrats!
Interesting about registering at the hospital. My midwives do that for me, though they do ask if I want the alternative birthing room if available. This did lead to a slight misunderstanding for my second (had to go to triage instead of right to labor and delivery) but it was quickly cleared up. Although I had him within six minutes of arriving so I guess it didn't matter too much. All that to say I am glad to avoid having to remember to register.
My appointment was rescheduled for this upcoming Monday so I will be having my glucose test again then. I guess it is standard to take it again even if you pass the early one? I don't mind it though so it is all good.
As to a nursery, the baby will be in with us for awhile then sharing with my others depending on sex.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I think we're going to try having the baby sleep in our room - at least in the beginning. We registered for a pack-n-play that has a bassinet insert so hopefully we can get use out of it as more than just a bassinet. Has anyone used that? I think it's the Graco Pack N Play on the go.
I'm a super light sleeper, so a little concerned I'll wake up (more than I have to) with the little guy next to our bed...Hoping a white noise machine helps!
We're making our 2nd bedroom into a bedroom/nursery too so we're ready to move him and store all of his gear.

@Banana330: I'm almost afraid to say it, but the switch is going well so far. Almost a week in and she's done surprisingly awesome! We haven't had to do naps yet (they are at daycare), but nighttime sleep has been good! I debated too, but the thought of having to buy another crib was what pushed us to move her!

I feel like I'm so unprepared for this kid lol. Oh wait, I AM so unprepared for this kid. We haven't sorted out anything about a nursery yet. I know which room it will be in, but it needs to be cleaned out, painted, and new furniture purchased. We need to get our first daughter into a big girl bed before we do that, bc her bed is currently living in the nursery-to-be. I don't even know which hospital I'm delivering at yet. I don't know when I"m supposed to do the glucose thing. I haven't bought anything for this baby beyond one new wrap. Oh and I need to potty train LO1 so we can get her (cloth) diapers rehabbed (new elastic) before baby comes. Gahhhhhh lol

@Mae: You totally aren't alone. I feel so unbelievably unprepared as well. I feel for my dd I was so much more on top of things. Plus I just feel like time is moving faster this pregnancy. I just keep reminding myself that they don't need very much when they come home!

@Mae: I feel you, we're way less prepared this time than last! we just started potty training this weekend (DD decided no more diapers so we went with it). But we have to do her big girl room before we can consider moving stuff etc. I really want to organise baby clothes but can't cause there's no where to put them!

How's everyone feeling these days? We're all about to enter the third trimester!
My cankles (ankles) are sooo puffy already. We've had a few days of heat wave and man it's been tough. I feel like I overheat really quickly.

Add me to the list of people who are feeling unpepared!
Except I am extremely unprepared. We living in a one bedroom apartment since LO1 was born and we need to move to a bigger place, move LO1 out of her crib and potty train her.
We have been waiting on a job posting which will likely move us across the country which is why we haven't moved yet but now it's cutting it way too close.

@Banana330: Feeling okay...ish lol. I mean if I'm just sitting around I feel mostly fine. My nausea is generally gone, the exhaustion has lifted, and I'm not having much general pain (like I know some ppl have back or hip issues). I do get out of breath really fast I feel like, bending over for too long is really uncomfortable which is hard with LO, getting up from the floor is kind of embarrassing, and days when LO is sitting upright she kicks my bladder a lot which is uncomfortable. She's laying sideways today and its way more comfy, I think LO1 turned head down before 32 weeks last time, so I'm hoping this little miss does the same and I don't deal with too much of the bladder soccer haha. Also its just hot here. I feel like my willingness to just do hard physical stuff is waning. Like zoo trip in 90 degree weather? how do those 9mo pregnant ppl do that? haha. I know I'm going to need to suck it up some this summer bc I have an active kiddo but I feel like this is going to be a bit rough.

@Banana330: feeling good here. I failed my glucose test though so have to do the three hour. I've never failed before and it is a bummer as I passed early on in this pregnancy. Otherwise all is good. I had my tDap and forgot how sore it makes my arm! Glad to be in my third trimester though as I love this point in pregnancy.
@Mae: haha we just took the trip to the bronx zoo this past weekend. It was a long trip (drove there and back the same day) and it was hot. Thankfully not super hot but I do not foresee many outdoor excursions as it gets even hotter. Today was in the low 90's and I started feeling awful an hour after being out with my older two...so much so my mum had me go in the a/c for a bit with the baby. Thankfully I have her close by to help wrangle my three wee ones.

I'm doing better today than yesterday....back pain hurts at night and keeps me up! My belly feels heavy and cumbersome....just keeping on though. I have a growth ultrasound next week. I ordered a few maternity things from Target. I underestimated how much I would need or how big I would get. hope everyone does well with this summer heat, its going to be hot here! Been in the 90s since June began. Ugh.

I'm waiting at my dr office now for my 6 month check up! I'm mainly soooooo tired! I don't even want to know how much weight I've gained!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@pmh2400: I used a pnp with my first and it worked great :). She roomed with us for about 6 months and then we transitioned her to her crib. The pnp had the bassinet attachment but I can't remember how long we used it before switching to the larger pnp 'mattress' area.
@Mae: just remember that baby will never know you were unprepared :). As long as you have clothes and dipes and somewhere to sleep, everything else is kinda optional to start lol. What kind of cloth dipes do you have? I'm unsure if we'll do them again w baby 2...we were kinda cd dropouts. We moved and the laundry was way in the basement with super hard water, and I started having ammonia issues I didn't feel like struggling through.
@Banana330: we've been on a beach vacation since Monday, and as laid back as it's been I've still been losing energy fast. Thank goodness for dh. Glad the older kids didn't come, because we've been super boring and everyone's been taking afternoon naps! I also still get nauseous at times, and have started popping tums in case it's acid reflux related.
@cheesetomywhine: sorry about the glucose test :(. And ugh, I'm so not looking forward to the tDap vaccine! My arm ached for a week last time.

@YouGotMe: That's a lot of limbo! hopefully it gets posted soon!
@Mae: I hear you on that. I'm not sure how active i'll be this summer.. unless we're at a pool.
@cheesetomywhine: Good luck with the three hour!
@Bibliolove: That sucks. Can you take some Tylenol before bed to see if that helps? My midwife last time was adamant I get lots of rest even if that meant tylenol (which is safe, I was just trying not to take stuff unless I really needed it).
@matador84: How did it go?
@StrawberryBee: Beach vacation sounds amazing! have .a great trip.

@StrawberryBee: We use bum genius free times. I'm too lazy to stuff pocket diapers lol. We have 20 and wash every other day. We'll probably get a few more before the baby comes, when Fiona was a newborn I only had 12 and I washed daily, I'd rather get 24 so I can wash e/o day still. We had some funk issues in her first year when I was figuring things out still-- what worked for me was giving up on trying to be green and just getting the original tide powder. I was worried it would cause rash issues but we've had none at all, and no stink issues at all since we started using it over 2 years ago.

@Banana330: it was so nice, we really lucked out on the weather.
@Mae: my stash is half freetimes and half pockets :). I also have three "unicorns": Little Butt Diapers. I'll keep the detergent recommendation in mind!

@Mae: @StrawberryBee: we have half free times and half pockets too! I liked the pockets better when she was little they were slimmer but he freetines were way better when she got big!

@Banana330: wow that is SUPER real! And like, 2.5 months away holy shit lol. Why are you scheduled so much before 40, if I can ask?
I don't have a scheduled day yet. I still haven't decided if I'm going to consent to a scheduled RCS or try for a VBAC. My doc said I can wait until 38 weeks to decide. He also said that he has no issue with me going to 42 (which is awesome because my last doc had a 40 week cutoff for prior c-section moms). So, I'm sort of leaning towards scheduling a RCS for 41 or 41.5 weeks and figuring if I go into labor before that I'll try to vbac and if I don't I'll just do the RCS...?
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Mae: DD was born on her due date, so the OB said he would do one around 39 weeks. But it's labour day weekend so they won't schedule one for the Friday or Monday. He didn't want to wait too close to my due date, so it will be 38w5d. It's annoying they won't schedule for sept 1 (39w) cause that was my preferred date.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Banana330: ah I see. I guess on the plus side, a few extra days off of mat leave for your hubby since he'll have fri and mon anyways?
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Banana330: I liked the freetimes for never having to stuff or search for an insert, but I think the pockets held together better :). Congrats on being scheduled with a due date!
Getting my Gd test right now; sitting in a lab waiting room with dd. They have some terrible channel up on the tv and set way too loud

@matador84: @StrawberryBee: Hope your GD tests went well ladies!!
@Banana330: Me! I scheduled my RCS for the 18th! It's so crazy to have a date...I'll be 39w3days for it! 39w exactly was my dh's bday, so we decided to wait until the next open day to schedule!

I'm definitely starting to have a harder time as I get closer to the third tri! My sleep has been awful at night but I'm so lucky I'm not working right now (off for summer), so I can catch a nap if I'm able to get the other kids down. I've been up 4-6 or more times to pee in the middle of the night, which is something I haven't experienced with any of my kids!!!! Usually by about 5-6 times in I'm up for at least a few hours.
Hoping this last tri flies by. We are road tripping for a week in a couple weeks then I won't be spending anymore time traveling.

@Mamag511: My due date is DH's birthday... he didn't want to share either! I kinda wish that it worked out this one would come in september. Scheduling for August made us both feel very nervous!
@matador84: Crappy sleep is the worst. last time I had the worst sleep for the last few months and I swear I slept better with a newborn than while pregnant! Glad you can sneak some naps in.
I tried taking DD to daycare this morning in the carrier (our stroller broke and i'm waiting on a replacement wheel). It was so uncomfortable! I'm going to have to find a new interim solution.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mamag511: thanks! was interesting explaining to my almost 4 yo why I was peeing in a cup ;). I'm sure anyone in earshot enjoyed the play by play as well lol.
Congrats on scheduling your RCS!
@matador84: yeah, I want to nap All The Time now. I'm stuck in this weird loop where I'm both exhausted with no energy reserves and nesting (? I guess? or it's just me being me and the move and everything still out of place getting to me). So I want to do all these things I probably shouldn't be doing, but I end up crashing halfway through and lying down instead. Then I get aggravated that everything is still everywhere.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@StrawberryBee: I feel that way too... I want stuff organized so badly and then have zero energy to actually do anything. I'm pretty sure it wasn't this bad last time, although I think I got a lot sorted earlier in the pregnancy...
kiwi / 526 posts
I've been on an organization kick too. The cluttered junk drawers are haunting me...it doesn't help that my husband likes to save everything!
I wanted to cry about how I'm not even in the third tri yet and I can't imagine getting any bigger and still having to haul myself to work, then from the parking lot at work (which is far).
I'm feeling grateful though. My work just cut a few positions from my department, which means more work for the rest of us but at least I have a job at this point.
Also, tornadoes touched down by us, and while people we know lost parts of their homes, ours is safe. So, perspective has hit home for me!

@Banana330: I've been feeling really good lately and I've been working like a mad woman on our house! I'm off for the summer which is the only reason I'm feeling good! My goal is to have a completely clean and organized house by the time I go back to work in August.
We are working on slowly setting up my son's big boy room, but it's such a mess in there and I have to clean and organize other rooms beforehand so I have space to store all the baby gear and clothes we have been saving.
No scheduled induction for us yet. I had one scheduled at 41 weeks with my first but went into labor at 40+3 and had him at 40+4. I'm hoping to make it to my due date again and will hopefully go into labor on my own, but we all know babies have their own ideas!
We are traveling to NYC at the beginning of August when I'm 33 weeks for a family wedding and I hope I'm not completely miserable!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Banana330: @Bibliolove: I just want our new couch put together (Ikea, but minimal work) so that I can lie down downstairs! and finish putting stuff away in there. I can't put stuff away until all the heavy furniture is tethered to the walls. All DH keeps on talking about is this mysterious yard sale he wants to do, and I'm like, can we get the inside livable first?
DH is the worst with stuff. We literally have a bin of rust...straight up RUST...from a classic car he owned for a couple of years. Who the hell saves that?
@Bibliolove: sorry to hear about the tornadoes and the loss of property :(.
@Boopers: Hope it's not an outdoor wedding!

Good news! I passed the three hour glucose test! I am impressed by everyone's organization. We are slackers over here (another word may be hoarder if one were to look into our mudroom). I have a to-do list that hopefully will be started soon.
