@Smurfette: That's awesome how well potty training is going!!! Sounds like she's really starting to get it and will be there soon!!! I can't believe it! Our babies are all growing up!!!

@Pumuckl: Holy crap! That sounds painful! I can't believe the little guy could do so much damage. I hope you're able to rest and feel better today.
@ALV91711: Glad you enjoyed the weekend! Pete loves walking down the steps by himself now too. He's pretty careful about it. It's quite nice to not have to worry so much about the menacing steps anymore!
@Adira: Pete is totally not ready for it either! He's peed on the potty one time but generally shows very little interest in it. I'm not worried about it quite yet. We may try to move things along when I'm home from work this summer, or not. We'll see!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Pumuckl: Ouch! I can't imagine how much that must have hurt. Hope today is better. Did he hurt himself at all?
@Adira: No more biting incidents and it has been a week, so yay!! Isaac can't reach the railing inside but on the outside steps he can grab on to each post going down. We aren't actually potty training yet either. He sits on the potty every night before bath and that is it. Other than that he has no interest. And I think at bath time it is more for stalling than anything!
@Smurfette: Sounds like she is doing really good with the potty. She'll be out of diapers in no time. You are brave taking her out of the house without a diaper.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yay! Hopefully the bite was just a one time thing. Xander's done it a couple times too, so I think it's pretty normal for all kids to experiment with it.
Xander's learning how to pedal!!! He was riding his tricycle around the kitchen last night, practicing his pedaling! I'm so proud.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yes! It's adorable!!
And ugh, two year molars are the WORST! At least, I'm assuming that's our issue here. Xander was whiny all last night and then kept waking up whimpering. Bleh!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I feel like these molars have been coming in forever! I really hope they just break through soon.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Seriously! I think both bottom ones are in for Xander, but he's working on the top now. Stupid molars.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I guess Xander might actually be sick - got the call to come pick him up because he has a 101.2 fever. Poor kid.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Thanks! Last evening he was pretty miserable and we couldn't keep his temp down (well, it stayed around 101, so it wasn't terrible). But he slept most of the night, so that's good! Hubs is staying home with him today.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Thanks! I think he's already feeling better from yesterday, so hopefully he's over it by tomorrow.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Adira: hope Xander got to enjoy his weeekend and wasn't sick anymore.
@ALV91711: yay for no more biting. We have to always be careful with B too because he is so strong. He's easily a head taller than most if his peers so he just takes whatever he wants to have.
He didn't seem fazed at all, so he was just fine on Monday.

Hi everyone!
We had an exciting weekend with Pete. It started off with... our first poop on the potty! On Saturday morning, he sat on the potty and when he stood up, there was a big poop in there. I was flabbergasted. He did it again this evening and is very pleased with himself, telling everyone he meets about his "poopy on the potty." I guess we are closer to potty training than I thought?
We also took him to our family lake house this weekend and he's finally old enough to really love it there. It was 10am and 64 degrees when we arrived, and he still went charging into the water in his pajamas. He was jumping up and down and screaming and laughing. Pure joy. It was so fun to watch! I think he's a little bummed to be home though, and keeps asking, "Where is my swimming lake?"
@Adira: How is he feeling today? The pedaling sounds so cute! Go Xander!
@ALV91711: Our molars have also been taking their sweet time to come in too. I think I can finally see the bottom ones near the surface.

@QueensBee: super exciting!! so cute about the water!
She did great this weekend. Yesterday she was dry at home, then we were gone pretty much late morning till bedtime. She only pooped in the pull up. It was dry all day. Today she pooped finally in the potty. She did have an accident, but I think DH forgot to take her. She is still in a diaper at naps and night but I am hoping by next week we can stop pull ups. We will see how she does at school this week.

@Smurfette: R makes potty training seem easy! Glad you guys had so much success with it this weekend!

@QueensBee: knock on wood, we are shocked at how well it is going. I really love seeing her in panties, it is so adorable.

Isaac keeps telling me next month he will pee on the toilet. I am really hoping so.
@Smurfette: R is doing so good. I'm glad it has been easy for you.
@QueensBee: That is so cute about the lake and asking where it is. Will you be spending lots of time there this summer?
I can't wait until we go home in a couple weeks and can take Isaac to the ocean. I love the ocean so much and it makes me kind of sad that Isaac isn't growing up with it.
@Pumuckl: I think no matter what there size at this age they just take what they want from each other. I see that a lot when I drop off at daycare.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Pumuckl: @QueensBee: Thanks! Xander was mostly fine by the end of Friday and seemed totally over his cold, or whatever he had, by Saturday. So at least it was short-lived! Of course now Logan's sick...
@QueensBee: YAY for poop in the potty!! That's a big milestone for kids!! So jealous about your family's lake house! My in-laws have a house on the lake, but they just took over some new business and are never home anymore, so we probably won't get to go at all this year. So glad Pete loved it there!
@Smurfette: That is crazy! R is doing so great with the potty training! I guess she was just ready!
So we signed Xander up for swimming lessons!!!! They start July 11th. I'm sooooo excited!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Just a warning, he might freak out the first day. I took R on the 6th for her first lesson, same teacher and place as last year. We left before the lesson was over. She has a death grip on me, wouldn't let go, and kept saying my house my house. I tried to get her to just watch the other kids, no luck. This past Sat, DH was there, he usually gets in with her, he got in the water and it took a good 10 mins before we could get her in the water. Then it took another 5 mins before she warmed up. Then she was loving it! She was smiling ear to ear. It was so weird.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Thanks for the warning! Had she been in a pool before? Maybe I should take Xander to this place for open swim before our lessons to see how he does and get him used to the place first.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yep! She loved the lessons last summer and other pools we took her too. She went swimming Memorial Day at our friends and loved it as well.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Well good to know! I'll just have to start bringing Xander to make sure he's used to it before his lessons start. Thanks for the advice.

@ALV91711: We'll probably spend one week up there, plus some weekends. It very very rustic (no trash pick up, no laundry, nearest store is 30 minutes away, bottled drinking water only), so it's very fun but I really miss the comforts of home after a few days!
I think Isaac is going to love the ocean!!! How much time will you get to be at home?
@Adira: I think we are signing Pete up for swimming lessons this July too! I'm excited!
@Smurfette: This sounds exactly like Pete. He took a little while to warm up at our Music Together and soccer classes. I hope he's gets into it pretty quickly like R!

Hi, popping in! I'm so bad at keeping up with this thread.
I don't think we'll be doing swim lessons this summer. Everywhere around here still only does mommy and me at this age and he is already very comfortable with the water and will put his face in, lay in his back, kick etc. so we'll just going to the pool on our own.
I'm so jealous of everyone's success with potty training already! L has gone pee pee once I the potty but has been uninterested since then.
@ALV91711: stupid molars have been taking forever here too. So frustrating!
Hit submit before I meant to. We are going on a trip this week to IL's vacation house in NM. And in July we're heading to NY for my high school reunion. Travel is expensive when you have to pay for an extra seat!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Not to worry! Xander's not that interested in potty training either. And that's awesome how comfortable L is in the water! Good luck on your trip!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: After seeing you enrolled X in swim lessons I looked into it and the only ones around us in the summer are all week day. Going to have to wait for fall. I missed out on spring ones as they were all booked up when I looked.
@travellingbee: Sounds like a fun couple of trips. How are you feeling these days?
@QueensBee: Those will be fun summer memories. Although one week sounds like enough without all the conveniences. We are going for two weeks. Going to spend a week with the IL's and a week with my family. I can't wait for Isaac to get to spend a week with his cousin, she is 14 months now and running everywhere.
@Smurfette: I hope this next Saturday's lesson goes better and she just enjoys it right off the bat.
Took Isaac for a haircut this weekend and he only cried a little bit. Then he just held my hand tight and looked really frightened.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Oh bummer! Yeah, most of our lessons were during the week too, but there was one session on Saturday and I was able to get into it, thankfully!
That's great he got his haircut!! Xander needs one desperately, but whenever I get out the scissors, he starts freaking out, so I haven't done it yet. Maybe I should just bring him somewhere...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: This is why we are going someplace we can drive too on vacation with her. With Turks and Caicos and then Mexico in November, we didn't want to have to buy more tickets! How's the pregnancy going?
@ALV91711: @Adira: R still hasn't had her hair cut! There is no way I would attempt to cut my kids hair, totally worth paying someone to do it.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@ALV91711: @Smurfette: I'm doing ok. Still super nauseous-- just over 11 weeks and I was sick til 20 weeks with L so not expecting much different.
pear / 1718 posts
@travellingbee: Sounds like L is quite the swimmer! Glad the baby is growing but I hope you start to feel better soon. 20 weeks is a long time to feel crummy!
@ALV91711: This is such a fun age to watch them play with other kids. I'm sure he's going to love his cousin!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Adira: @ALV91711: we've had a couple of haircuts here. Luckily there's a giant construction site infront of the hairdresser's so there's lots to see. Hadn't we cut it his hair would reach his butt now.
@QueensBee: Yes, it is seriously the best to watch him interact with his peers.
We have a swimmer here too. He loves water but with parents that have both worked as swim coaches we'd be shocked if it weren't so
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: You are brave doing haircuts yourself. I would never attempt that. I have a hard enough time trimming nails!
@Smurfette: The last time we were getting Isaac's haircut there was a little girl there who was 3 and it was her first haircut.
@travellingbee: I hope the nausea ends sooner this time, 20 weeks is a long time to not feel good.
@QueensBee: I love the interactions at this age. Even seeing him at daycare with his friends. They all know each others names and it is so cute. Isaac has a little buddy who just moved up to the toddler room and they love giving each other hugs at the end of the day, they did this in the baby room too.
@Pumuckl: Trucks & equipment a little boys best friend. We live in a new subdivision and there is constantly dump trucks going by our back yard. Isaac loves to stand at the fence and wave to them. Any that see him wave back and one even honked his horn once.
We've pushed bedtime back until 8 now as 7:30 was failing to work. We'd have the odd morning of 5:30 but he's still been waking up at 4:30. The first night/morning was a success, this morning awake at 4:30 again. We will see what tomorrow brings.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: It's more that I'm afraid to bring him somewhere to cut his hair because I know he'll cause a scene! Hoping the later bedtime works out for you.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: have you tried a toddler clock? That is way too early to be getting up!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I was just thinking about that yesterday. Definitely on the to do list for this weekend. 8-5 is way too little sleep.
