@Pumuckl: I must have missed that you are so sick. Sorry you are feeling so crummy! I hope you have some help and are feeling better soon!

@Adira: You are seriously lucky with two great sleepers! But I understand what you mean about the health issues. My fingers are crossed that Logan doesn't have the same allergies and asthma. Happy to hear you all survived the first day back! How did it go? Are you able to find enough time to pump at work? I remember you were worried about having enough "vacation time" for pumping breaks (which is crazy!).

@Smurfette: Chicken and waffles is a new phenomenon to me too! I think I first heard of it a few years ago. I've never had it, and it does seem like an odd combination, but I love fried chicken and I love waffles, so I imagine it has to be a winning breakfast!

@Adira: We are having a 4-6pm party and haven't figured out food yet. We'll probably do either: chicken fingers, mac n' cheese, and salad -or- italian food (baked ziti, manicotti, etc.). If our party was at 11am, I would totally do a brunch buffet. I LOVE brunch foods! Muffins, bagels and lox, quiche, fruit salad, strata, waffles (and chicken?), mimosas and bloody marys.

@Pumuckl: I hope your feeling better today. I've only looked in one store for training pants, but online is a good idea.

@Adira: So lucky with two good sleepers! How was your first day back?

@Smurfette: I've never heard of chicken and waffles. It looks like it could be good.

@Adira: I'd do pizza because it is easy. Then you could just give Xander something he loves.

@QueensBee: Thanks! My first day back went just fine! And went by faster than I was expecting, though taking 3 breaks during the day to pump definitely helps pass the time!! I forgot how much I enjoyed those breaks, even though pumping and stressing about producing enough sucks. I actually was really worried about what I was going to do, pumping-wise, because when I came back to work, I had exhausted all of my vacation time!! But my boss just told me to bring some work in there with me so I don't have to use vacation time or make it up. Today I'm going to see if I can get the wifi to work in there so I can check my e-mails while I'm pumping.

@ALV91711: Mmmm.... pizza! And my first day back wasn't too bad! Definitely easier the second time around because I knew what to expect and I wasn't too worried about Logan since I'm comfortable with the daycare. I think Logan missed me though - he wanted to nurse all evening last night!

@Adira: Phew, I'm so glad your boss is giving you those pumping breaks! It would be insane (and illegal?) to not! And yes, I bet they're a nice break from the grind, especially if you get your wifi set up!

I am having such a TOUGH week with Pete. It feels like we are having power struggles over everything. If I start singing, he yells, "No singing!" and might even try to hit me to get me to stop. If I try to eat some soup next to him at the table, "No soup!" and he bats the spoon away from me. If I try to turn the light on in the kitchen, he says, "No light, mama!" and starts screaming. You get the idea. We've also had big battles getting his pajamas on each night. I totally dread it! I think the problem is that he's overtired b/c his daycare naps have been short, but it takes me so long to get him ready for bed each night that I can't seem to move it along any faster. I am really hoping that this is a phase that passes quickly or with a little extra sleep over the weekend.

@QueensBee: Legally, they have to give me time and a place to pump (and they do), but they DON'T have to pay me for it! But my boss came up with ideas for me to continue working while I'm pumping so that I don't have to go unpaid for that time. Phew!

Ugh, sorry you're having a rough time with Pete. Xander definitely goes through spurts of being super defiant and difficult. Hopefully it's just a phase that passes quickly.

@Adira: oh good! So you don't have to take vacation this time?

  7. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@blackbird: Right!! Which is good, since I don't have any vacation time left, haha.

@Adira: no kidding! That was a stupid policy, anyways!

@Adira: I'm glad they are going to make pumping work so that you aren't having to use vacation time or go unpaid. That would suck.

@QueensBee: That must make such long evenings. Hopefully his daycare naps get better so his behavior gets better. It is crazy to me how one day Isaac will be charming and listen so well/be really well behaved and the next day he doesn't listen to a thing and will be just miserable, whining, grumpy and behave badly.

@QueensBee: I could have written that exact post myself. L is EXACTLY the same right now! Ugh! And everything is "mine", "me do" or "my help" ( which means, don't help me I'll do it myself but then scream because I'm frustrated).

  11. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@travellingbee: We had that the other morning since everything is Isaac do it. He couldn't get his mittens on and I offered to help, he wanted to do it himself and when he couldn't then threw himself on the floor whining! As annoying as it was it was kind of funny.

@QueensBee: @travellingbee: I'm right there with you ladies. I barely made it through the evening yesterday, hence my frustrated post about the "mines" today. Thankfully LO was a little better today.

I'm hoping LO is still coming down from the in-laws visit. They have some different rules and eating habits so we're trying to get back on track. If this behavior is just from being 2 I don't think I can handle it.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @blackbird: Seriously!

@travellingbee: @ALV91711: Xander is the opposite a lot. He's soooo bossy! It's a lot of work"Mama, get it!" or "do it!" or do"help me!" when he's perfectly capable of getting/doing whatever it is all on his own.

    @Smurfette: @ALV91711: @travellingbee: @blackbird: Thanks ladies!

And OMG - BabyCenter has switched from sending me "My Toddler This Week" e-mails to "My Preschooler This Week." WHAT! My baby is NOT a preschooler!!!

@travellingbee: @Corduroy: I guess it's good to know that my kid isn't the only one going through this right now. My mom, whom I love dearly, insists that I was never like this as a kid. She claims that I only had one or two tantrums in my whole life! I'm sure that it's not the truth and that she doesn't remember what it's like to have a two year old (or she's delusional?), but it made me feel like there's something wrong with Pete! Ugh, Hoping it passes quickly for all of us!

@Adira: Happy Birthday Xander!!! I feel like it was only yesterday that you were positing, "WTF, I think I'm in labor!" or something along those lines! Hope you guys have a great day!

@Adira: Haha, LO 1 started "young preschool" at 2.5 but think of 3 as preschool age!

    Ok, making my menu:
Hot dogs/brats, buns, pasta salad, fruit, veggie tray, chips. Then cupcakes and brownies for dessert. What else do I need? No baked beans.

About 40 people (around 8/9 kids)

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: The only other thing I might include (only because I love it) is maybe crackers and cheese? But definitely not a necessity with all that you already have!

  27. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Smurfette: I think it sounds great! I know you can always add more but that list should be enough to fill a plate.

  28. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Smurfette: That sounds like a delicious menu. I don't think there is a need to add anything to it.

@QueensBee: I'd say it is hard to believe that you only had a couple tantrums. Your mom must be blocking it out.

This weekend I'm going to be away for two nights and it is my first two nights away from Isaac. I think him and DH will be fine but bedtime might be a struggle. Isaac insists on only me putting him to bed. Even though it is not the best circumstances why I'll be gone I'm looking forward to waking up when I want to and staying up late.

I can't believe I've never had a night away in almost 2 years.

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: Enjoy it!! DH and Issac will be fine. It will good for them to have time just them just as much has it will be for you to be away from them.

  31. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@ALV91711: Yes, definitely enjoy the full nights of sleep and leisurely wake ups! So nice! I'm sure Isaac will work it out with DH. I hope everything is okay.

@ALV91711: OMG enjoy it!!!! It's going to be awesome!!!! And maybe Isaac will surprise you--sometimes when mommy's not around, they know it and manage just fine

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Ahhh!!! Have fun!!! I was away from Xander for two nights once and even though I was pumping, it was still AWESOME. Enjoy it!!

Ugh girls, daycare turnover SUCKS. Just found out that my favorite Infant teacher is no longer at our center! She was the whole reason I felt totally comfortable leaving Logan there because I KNEW she was great with babies and would take good care of him! He's been there only a week and now she's GONE.

@Adira: Ohhh, I'd be so disappointed about this too. I hope they find a good replacement. Do you know where she went or why she left?

  36. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Oh, that is so crappy. I hope they find an awesome replacement.

I picked Isaac up from daycare today and he cried because he wanted to stay and do the puzzle. His teacher had to hug him and calm him and tell him they would do puzzles Monday morning. Only then was he satisfied that he could come home with me.

    pear / 1718 posts

@ALV91711: This happens to us all the time! Sometimes i have to take Pete to the car without a coat (in 20 degree weather), because he's crying so much that I can't get him dressed. I guess it's nice to know they love school this much?

How did it go while you were away?

  38. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@QueensBee: It is good that they love being there. I leave first thing in the morning and I'm hoping it goes good.

@QueensBee: No clue why she's gone. I think I'll ask on Monday.

Xander's party is today! My mom came over yesterday to help me clean, so we're all set. Hubs and I put his tricycle together too. I'm so excited to give it to him!
