@LindsayInNY: My practice in downtown Chicago was the same way, my doctor had almost the exact same attitude. I ended up staying but regretted it later - the guy who delivered me was pretty much hostile toward people not having an epidural and I ended up getting one and had a horrible reaction to it. So much of birth is being comfortable in your setting, I'd at least explore the option of moving. They can always transfer your medical records.

I met with a doula yesterday and she was absolutely lovely!!! DH and I have a hospital tour scheduled for next Thursday (way ahead of when we "planned" on doing it!). I'm hoping those two things will help me feel a bit more settled with staying with my current practice.
