We have our anatomy scan on monday... We've been going back and forth, but are leaning toward not finding out. We found out with our first. This will most likely be it for us so the surprise sounds fun, but its so tempting to find out!

We haven't decided. I'm firmly in the team green camp and DH really wants to find out. Not surprising because I like surprises and he doesn't! I'm interested to hear others weigh in!

I had to know. Had to, had to, had to. ASAP! 
so it wasn't a tough choice for me
After we found out LO was a boy, we went to breakfast and decided his name (which we kept a secret) and then bought his first onesie and teddy bear.

We were team green...once you get past the anatomy scan, it was easy sailing! It was so awesome to go through all of the labor and delivery to find out that we had a daughter. We will most likely find out with our next child so I'm very glad we were team green for one baby.

We were going to be team green with this one since we found out for the first one. However I couldn't stand not knowing and I wanted to prepare esp since this would be baby no 2. So I talked my husband into finding out. I feel like we got our surprise during the anatomy scan and it was a nice moment for us. Besides there was no way I could last for the entire pregnancy not knowing!!

We considered being team green because I really wanted to do everything gender neutral and avoid pink/blue. After I got pregnant, though, I started wanting to know more about our baby and decided I just had to find out! You could always have them write it down in a sealed envelope and if you guys decide you really don't want to know, you could shred it.

We aren't going to find out. Partially to help keep things gender neutral (pink is my favorite color, so if we found out it was a girl I'd have a really hard time not making eveything pink). I feel very strongly about not over gendering our kids, but my family is just absolutely horrible about it, especially with boys. Waiting holds it off for a few months. I'm also a little scared of them being wrong. It's rare, but it happens. I also like the idea of the surprise. And I REALLY want a girl, so if it's a boy, I think I'll be able to avoid disappointment better. (Yes, I realize wanting a girl is ridiculous when I'll be avoiding gendering.) And lastly, we want to keep ournames secret, so I'm hoping that will be easier with not knowing.

I really want to be team green, but DH does not. Our compromise is he will find out and keep it a secret to himself, but no one else will know til the birth.
That's the plan, anyways. We will see if crazy pregnancy brain will change my mind!

I did! I wanted to pick a name and I wanted to know everything I could about my baby. Knowing she's a girl makes it feel more real than some theoretical boy or girl child. I feel much more connected now that I can picture our girl.

We were team green and I was so happy we decided to go that route. It was so amazing to have the suspense and I'll never forget the moment after delivery when we found out we had a little girl.

I found out with both my kids, but I was tempted to be surprised with my second. I'm a planner, and I couldn't take the suspense. I wanted to mentally be prepared for having two boys and having all the necessary baby stuff available.

We were team green and I loved it. Dh wanted to find out but since I was the one doing the hard work I got my way. It was so great finding out when she was actually here in the flesh. Bonus side effect was that we got our gear instead of gendered clothes, then after she was born still got loads of pink stuff. The only negative is stressing about two names instead of just one.
Not sure if we will find out with the second. Dh really wants a boy and we will only have two, so if it's a girl again I'd want to do it however would involve the least disappointment.

@Torchwood: I'm thinking team green would be good because of gender disappointment as well. Hate to say it but I always wanted a boy first and was a little disappointed when I found out it was a girl with LO #1, couldn't imagine it any other way now however. If we find out at the anatomy scan its a girl I will probably be a little disappointed again, but if they hand me a baby and say "it's a girl!" It'll be different.

We did not find out and it was such a wonderful experience, we won't find out with any future babies! It was an amazing feeling to finally meet your LO in that moment!

@polkadots: Exactly. I think it'd be a lot harder to be sad when you're actually holding the baby. Kind of like some people have said they found miscarriages less sad once they had a baby, because if the first had made it they wouldn't have THIS baby that they love so much.

@polkadots: There are so few surprises in life. Now that I'm 39 weeks pregnant, I am SO happy we chose to be team green. I feel like there's an extra level of excitement! Good luck with whatever you choose! Either way, it'll be great!

we didn't find out for either. I just needed to know! and DH is a planner, and wanted to know, more than I did. I do have a teeny regret not being team green with one of them. I just sort of feel like I missed out on that surprise. we are more than likely done with the two we have(a boy and a girl), BUT if for some strange reason we decided to have a third, we will absolutely, 100% be team green!

I would've been okay either way (knowing or not), but DH said he'd really like to know if it's a boy or a girl so he could picture him or her better. We found out right at the scan, and I am very happy we know now, it does make it easier for us to talk to her and plan for her. Plus, we only had to decide on one name.
However, I would definitely do an envelope deal next time and find out with a candle in our favorite dessert after dinner out or something fun like that, rather than the "she's a girl, see, no penis" declaration during an u/s. Haha!

I also agree that there's more excitement at the end, everyone is soo excited not just for the babe but to find out if it's a he/she
Also I keep seeing I'm a planner I had to know, and I don't agree I'm a huge planner and was able to plan everything. The only thing we didn't have was gender specific clothing and everyone bought us that at birth

We found out! We knew we wanted to from the beginning. I know during the ultrasound it was a super special moment between DH and I when we found out it was a boy. Telling family and friends was such a joyful experience.
I'm really glad I get to call him by his name and I get to bond with him and imagine all the things we get to do as mother and son.
I do totally understand the appeal of team green though!! We probably won't ever do it but I can see why people do.

We were team green and I am so happy we were. I am such a planner and HATE surprises, so everyone was shocked that I was team green. We had a girl and once she was born we were overloaded with pink. We had some gender neutral clothes, but by the time we left the hospital, she had pink everything!
I will definitely be team green again. Having that surprise in the delivery room was amazing, as was calling all of our friends and family.

I definitely, definitely wanted to know!! I'm very impatient anyway, and wanted to know as much about this baby as possible, as soon as possible! We had a boy and girl name picked out, and it makes it so real now to call her by her name instead of saying "the baby" all the time. Even though we know baby is a girl, we're still doing almost everything gender neutral anyway. Plus, one thing I don't understand about team green--and I don't mean this in an offensive way but I really don't understand--do you look away during ultrasounds? My dr has a machine in house so I get an ultrasound at every appointment (which I know from the boards is unusual...) and would hate to have to not look during parts, I want to see everything!

We didn't, and it was amazing! The most beautiful words ever were "It's a boy!" said by my husband in the delivery room. Of course I was dying to find out, and that was huge motivation for me to keep pushing!

I'm a planner, but am team greening this time (LO#2), anatomy scan day (was Dec 19th!) was SO hard, but I am so glad to not know this time. This is not likely our last LO, we found out with our first, it is hard, but I'd say go team green if you can just to experience both sides, having the option not to find out your babies gender is something that is such a limited opportunity you will have!

We want to go Team Green if we have another baby, so I vote "Don't do it." I think it would be suuuuper hard to resist finding out, but I just think about that moment when the baby is born and having them yell out what it is....Ahh, it just seems soo exciting! Regardless, you really can't go wrong because it will be exciting whenever you find out.

I'm 30 weeks and team green, and I LOVE it!!! I love people speculating, and hearing all the old wives tales about how I'm carrying and all that. I'm so looking forward to the moment my husband or midwife tells me the gender.
Also curious for those who are saying they are planners - is it just for colours? What can you not plan without knowing the gender, besides that?

We were on Team Green and it was great for us. I had a few moments (funnily enough, right at the end of my pregnancy) where I wanted to give in, but so glad we waited because that moment when the doctor announced that we had a son was so incredibly special and something I will never forget.
The interesting part is I am completely Type A and generally need to plan everything! For some reason, I was able to rely on the fact that we would figure out the details when the baby was born- and I was ok with that.
To be honest, if we have any more children, I would be inclined to wait again
