Personally, I don't care about the gender of my friends/families unborn children or their names. My only point was people buy clothes regardless. If you don't want clothes, say point blank "please no clothes."

@littlebug: I'm team green and I know it's annoying the crap out of people (and I'm enjoying it!) I don't know why my not knowing bothers people so much, but it clearly does! I'd imagine people probably find it extra-annoying when the parents know and choose not to share - probably because it generally comes across as excessively secretive or smug. I just wish this thread would simmer down, because everyone's just putting in their two cents on a pretty fluffy issue.
ETA: ahh, you deleted your OP!

@dragonflystar: I'm sorry you don't feel supported. Obviously you can decide whatever you want about telling people or not- that's between you and your SO, we are just strangers on the Internet. I will say, though, one thing I value on this site is that people can be more honest than they might in real life. So, no one would say anything in real life if you know the sex and won't tell them, but you can guess that at least some of them will be annoyed based on responses in here. But it's still totally your choice!
Full disclosure, we were team green first time around but didn't tell people what names we had chosen. I am aware that that was annoying to some people, but we wanted to keep them a secret and reserve our right to change our minds. But yeah- I know some people were annoyed. It's ok.
We found out the sex this time, and are telling people, but won't tell people the name until she is born again.
