DH's big push for having LO #2 asap (ds is 3 months, it's not happening for a while folks. LOL), is that L&D will be easier.
I don't think this is necessarily true, though I hope I'm not in labor 26 hours next time!
What about you?

I'm wondering about this too! Not only L&D just the whole experience of adjusting to 2 vs the experience of adjusting from 0 kids to 1!

L&D was much much easier the second time around. I pushed for four HOURS with Owen, and about eight minutes with Eloise.
The whole adjustment has also been a lot easier this time. Even though we are still working out the logistics of two kids, it just hasn't been as big of a shock to the system. Before Owen was born, we had been living abroad, traveling, etc. All of a sudden we were parents, and it threw me for a massive loop having to adjust everything about our lives. This time, we were already in kid-mode, so it's been more of a matter of tweaking our routines, rather than completely changing our lives.

@mrsjyw: labor was easier (4 hours vs 12).
But pregnancy was so much harder! I was in soooooo much pain.

I'm wondering this too. LO is 6 months old, so #2 is on my mind sometimes, when I'm not sleep deprived from no STTN here.

I haven't gotten to the labor part, yet, but this pregnancy has been way more uncomfortable. However, with ds I had GD and ended up with preterm labor with 32 weeks, which landed him in the NICU for 15 days. This time around, even though I'm uncomfortable, I've made it to term and I don't have GD. I'm suspecting the labor will be easier, though.

@chopsuey119: agree!
Labor has gotten easier with each one, but pregnancy got harder. My pregnancy with my third was so hard physically. I lost 15 lbs and had days I could hardly stand I was so nauseous, it was terrible until I was almost 20 weeks. And then I was so uncomfortable-not big but uncomfortable. I never felt that way in either pregnancy with my first two.

omg! Tell that man to give it a rest! at least for a few months so you can rest! haha!! Cute though, that he wants another baby asap.
Just like others, pregnancy was soooo much more painful (baby sat wayyyyy lower and I was walking like a cowboy for most of the pregnancy) but L&D were super super super easier.

I've heard this and it was true with my mom. She said each L&D was easier and a lot were much shorter. She had six kids! With the sixth she barely made it - I think she was in labor less than 2 hours before delivering!
and yeahhhh tell DH no freaking way you're getting pg at 3 months pp hahaha. that's so soon! I've heard it's actually best to allow your body to fully heal from pregnancy and delivery, so tell him it will be easier to WAIT!!

I think L&D for #2 is usually easier for most moms, but one doesn't have to them super close together mostly for that reason. My girls are 3 years and 5 months apart and it was still much easier:
6 hrs vs 20 hrs
2 pushes vs 50 mins of pushing
able to go without meds for #2

way easier. labor was much shorter. i had a c-section the first time and a vbac the second time too!

@SAHM0811: lol, sorry for the confusion, DH is ready for baby #2 already so he tries to sell me on it by saying future pregnancies in general will be much easier, not that i should have them closer together!

Agree that pregnancy is harder but labor was easier and I went drug free for the second.

My births and recoveries were almost exactly the same, 12 hours labor with 30 minutes of pushing. Pregnancy was both easier and harder the second time around. I had some extra complications the second time and I was so in so much more pain, but some of the issues from my first pregnancy were lessened with #2.
The adjustment period was so much easier the second time around. And DS was a much easier baby in general!

My 1st was twins so my pregnancy was tougher, I had GD and some preterm labor but made it to 36 weeks and boys were born healthy and did no NICU. I had a vaginaly delivery with an epidural in case of c-section. My water broke and contractions didn't start till a few hours later and I had them within 9 hours of my water breaking so and just a few pushes. The boys were just under 6 lbs each.
I worried the second time around that it would be tougher since the baby would most likely be bigger and since my water broke with the boys that I wouldn't know exactly when i was in labor if my water didn't break.
I had contractions for a week but when they were real I could tell. Thank goodness this wasn't my first because things progressed super fast. I woke my husband up at 2:30 am in the morning telling him to shower i think it's time. I was starting to have stronger contractions but nothing too bad. We headed to the hospital and parked the car at 3:51am and my daughter was born at 4:53am! She practically slid out, my doctor didn't even make it to the delivery! No epidural this time since there was no time, so much more painful but the recovery was so much easier. Immediately afterwards I felt better than I had in weeks and no tearing. No real pain afterwards either.
