I'm hoping to be better this time around. I tried my best with LO but those cravings really put a damper on eating healthy!

I was! I felt I had a duty to nourish my body which is strange because I love desserts! I would only 'allow' myself treats if I had eaten all my veggies/protein for the day.
I usually got a .99 soft serve with hot fudge from mcdonalds - they were my weakness!

No! All I craved were BAD stuff! DH had to cut me off a few times.

I craved potatoes and sweets with my first and carbs with my second. Both times I had to put an end to that due to GD. It's a blessing in disguise. I ate very healthy and only gained 15 with my first. So far I've gained 3 lbs with my second, and I'm almost 23 weeks along.

@littlebittyhouse: That's a good idea to make it a point to eat the good stuff then if you do, you get a treat.
@regberadaisy: haha right! I would eat candy, desserts, boxed mac n cheese like it was going out of style....it was bad.

Right now, no. I just cannot bear to eat anything that isn't a carb. Hoping this will change in a couple weeks when I'm out of the first tri.

@Bao: haha I did eat healthy but all my cravings were bad things. This one week I wanted buffalo wedge fries from a local pizzeria 3x! The third time DH had to say no. Party pooper.

I are very well with my second. Not so much for my first!

Yeah, I did really well this last pregnancy. It contributed to losing so much in the beginning and then not gaining so much at the end. Plus, I now weigh less than I did pre-pregnancy.

Right now nothing sounds good so it is a struggle to eat anything healthy or not. I'm trying to eat fruit and dairy as snacks.
papaya / 10560 posts
yes! i craved fruits, vegetables, v8, banana bread...weird, pretty overall healthy stuff!

I couldn't tolerate much besides carbs in the first trimester but I've been trying to balance healthy eating with "treats" in the second & third trimesters.

I was really really good during the first trimester. During the second I was ok. The third has definitely been my worst! I am still eating pretty healthy for breakfast and lunch, but I usually have some sort of dessert almost every night now!

Nope, I had starchy cravings most days, so I ate a lot of baked potatoes during my pregnancy.

Prior to becoming pregnant, I ate a pretty clean diet, and managed to keep it up to some extent, throughout pregnancy. However, I have definitely given into countless guilty pleasures, finding myself craving lots of sweet treats. Luckily, I've also been obsessed with fruit and homemade smoothies, which have helped hit the spot, and keep the jumbo cupcakes at bay...most of the time.
I'd like to eat even healthier (and exercise much more) the next time around, but I'm relatively happy with how things turned out. I'm a week overdue, and have only gained about 19 pounds, so I think I did alright.

Nope. I had a hard time eating in general in the first trimester and from there on out, I ate like a horse. An unhealthy horse who eats ice cream for 3 meals a day.

Nope. I'm much happier when I'm not only eating vegetables, so I eat what I want. I don't over eat but I don't make myself be good all the time.

I think I ate about the same as normal. The biggest change for me was wanting more poultry and less fish -- exactly the opposite of how I had been eating pre-preg.
I did eat a lot of ice cream, but I would only buy the tiny, expensive ones like Talenti to limit the damage. Or force myself to leave the house and get frozen yogurt w/ fruit...which was often just enough to make me say forget it.

The first trimester was horrible. I had really bad morning sickness and basically just ate white bread. Since then I am back to my healthy eating. Whole grains, lots of veggies. I feel sick when I eat ice cream, and desserts don't really appeal to me at all. And because of the heartburn, I've found when I have something like a cheeseburger the aftermath is just not worth it.

The only thing I craved was peaches and milk. Not bad.
But the food aversions were pretty terrible. Thank goodness it didn't last long. I lived off of pasta with butter, bread and crackers for a while. It was the only thing I could stomach.

i didn't eat healthy at all during the first 6-8 weeks due to nausea. my favorite thing to eat were triscuits with shredded cheese zapped in the microwave for a few seconds.

Carbs were the only thing I craved in the first trimester, especially salty french fries. I'm working on being better about my food, but the desserts definitely call my name.

Ehhhh, not really. I mean, I'm not anywhere CLOSE to eating nothing but veggies/fruits/lean meats, but I haven't gone ridiculously overboard with anything... I could definitely cut back some of the sweets and pizza though... Mmm, pizza.

Not until I got gestational diabetes - then I was forced to eat healthy.

HAHAHA... ummm... nope. *sheepish* I ate terribly! I had so many food aversions, the only things I'd want or could stomach weren't very healthy. Ice cream, Coca-Cola, McD's Sausage McGriddles, cinammon buns, and Del Taco = most of pregnancy diet. Thankfully, post-partum, my healthier eating habits have come back quite a bit.

I'm eating healthier then last time, but still not as healthy as I should. I think it helps that 1. I don't want to gain so much this time and 2. I have an actual baby already and know that I don't want to feed her junk. I knew I was feeding the baby in my belly junk last time but it's just easier comprehend it now that I have an actual baby.

I tried really hard with my first because I had an unrealistic goal to stay as fit as I was before I got pregnant - HA! I finally gave that up the last trimester, since it was around thanksgiving and Christmas.
Next time around, I'm going to do what @littlebittyhouse said and make sure I get all the good stuff first

I haven't been eating terribly, but it hasn't been as healthy as I'd like either. Mainly, my problem is that I'm awful about packing lunches and there isn't much really healthy stuff near my office. I have tried bringing snacks to stash at the office, but they rarely seem appealing when it comes to actually eating them. I still have plenty of time left to try harder, but I don't know why it's so difficult!
