So I've noticed that my underwear doesn't fit so well anymore, so I'm in the market. I usually get Hanes hipster cut, but is this a good cut for a growing belly?
What kind of cut did/do you use while pregnant?

Thongs. I wore hanky panky undies (and some of the new VS lacies - they are seriously comfy!) pre-pg, during pg, and now pp.

Omg I haven't worn a thong in over a decade!
I wore VS pink underwear. Comfy!

I'm going to go against grain and say the most gigantic pair of underwear ever. I *hated* anything hitting me under the belly, no matter how loose or stretchy. So I was team granny-panty.
DH despises them, heh. He tells me he's stealing all my underwear and throwing them into a bonfire!

@LovelyPlum: I have ocd/sensory type issues, so regular underwear drives me NUTS because it rumples. I have to wear thongs or I wind up adjusting my underwear pretty much constantly.

@LovelyPlum: Exactly! Lol! Although, the only one I can remotely tolerate is Cosabella. They are the bomb. But not while I was preggers!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Espion: glad I'm not the only one!
@Torchwood: that is so funny, because the only time I do that is when I AM wearing a thong!
I may go with my favorite hipsters in a size up. I just hate anything tight on my belly, but weirdly, my low cut underwear is making me insane. I'm ready to throw it all away. I have a feeling new underwear will be in my future a few times this pregnancy...

I bought some from gap maternity but I think they're almost identical to my prepreg ones. I still have them in my rotation 11 months after baby!

I had to get maternity panties from motherhood! My butt is huge and I had plumbers crack issues in regular panties.

I tried a thong once...and never did it again! Don't know how you ladies do it!! Something that sits below your belly. I usually buy VS pink boy shorts (addicted) but they are awkwardly sitting over my belly now that I'm getting bigger and folding up. I personally don't like bikini briefs...I feel like they don't fit me well in the crotch so I'm going to get some hipsters that sit below my belly.

I had to buy some new undies when my belly got huge. I loved the lace-waist ones at VS. The lace didn't cut into my belly, so they were so comfy.
I agree with others... thongs?! No way, Jose.

@allison: can you post or send me a link to the style you are talking about? I love VS and would love to stick with cute undies I can wear pp too!
pear / 1895 posts
@Danizaur: sure! These are the two different kinds I got. I can't really tell a difference between them, either.
VS has a bunch of "lace waist" styles, if hipster cut isn't your thing: http://search2.victoriassecret.com/?q=lace+waist&view=desktop
ETA: these are SO cute: http://www.victoriassecret.com/sale/panties-specials/lace-trim-boyshort-panty-pink?ProductID=94135&CatalogueType=OLS

Another vote for either the Lacey thong from Victorias Secret or Hanky Panky. One size fits all means it will stretch with you and you should be able to wear them after baby is born. Why waste money on new undies that you can't wear later?
As for the thong-haters, how do you deal with the constant panty lines? You must have secrets that I am not aware of.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
@Pink Champagne: with work pants I have to be careful and smooth everything out but I find my boyshorts lay flat against my skin so i don't get a panty line. The ones i buy are thin and stretchy. But for jeans I have no problem at all. They stay put and are super comfy!!

@LovelyPlum: I'm with you. Things are for very special occasions only. Plus I had to wear a panty liner for that lovely increased discharge for the last several months of pregnancy. And pp? These ladies are crazy!!
I wore my regular underwear but the biggest ones I had- mostly gap bikinis or hipsters.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@LovelyPlum: I went with sexy granny panties. I had to have it up on my bump otherwise it would slide down below it and I always felt like it was going to fall off.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@Pink Champagne: I occasionally do have vpl but I'd rather that than jiggly butt or the annoyance of a thong! And I have some pairs that lay smoother and flatter.
To you thong lovers, you must have worn something else immediately post partum, right??
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@LovelyPlum: This totally happened to me in the first 10 weeks with all of the bloat but once that went down, my underwear fits much better. Maybe it's worth waiting it out?

I'm currently wearing my regular size in bikini briefs. I thought I'd have to go up a size but I'm carrying high.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@Foodnerd81: I wore Fruit of the Loom bikinis PP!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@MrsKoala: not sure....seems to be getting worse, not better. I didn't have a problem until a.few days ago. But truth be told, it is for the best. Most of my underwear has so many holes in it, I need a good excuse to buy new ones!
@Foodnerd81: I also need a liner for the progesterone goop that comes out! Plus, I just don't have the patience to mess with them.constantly. I need comfort!
@Jennimac: fair. I have some of those for AF days, when I just need coverage and comfort.

I wear hanky panky thongs and wore them throughout pregnancy. They were so comfy!
eggplant / 11824 posts
Another vote for lace thongs - they stretched and didn't have a band to dig into your skin at all.
@Foodnerd81: for the first few days pp I wore regular bikini cut or boyshorts, but they make some great pantyliners for thongs now so once the mega-bleed was over, the thongs were back! Woohoo! Lol
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@Foodnerd81: Hahaha - yes! I wore the mesh undies from the hospital at first, and then I switched to the only non-thongs I own(ed) . . . low-rise stretch lace boy shorts from VS. I was so happy to get back to my thongs! I just can't mentally handle the idea of VPLs no matter what I am wearing!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@MsLipGloss: ugh. I'm still bleeding enough to need an actual pad four weeks later. Adding a thing to the mix- no thank you
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@Foodnerd81: I bled like that until 6 weeks, and then off and on like that until 8 weeks. I hear ya! I didn't go back to my regular undies until after 8 weeks. Sometimes you just have to adjust on the fly, VPLs be damned!
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
These are my absolute favorite undies, I bought them instead of maternity underwear and LOOOVEE them. So comfy.
I wear that cut or thongs
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I wore VS hipsters and boyshorts, I liked the extra coverage.

@Running Elley: ditto!! And i'd like to add the word "forgiving" next to "lacey" and "stretchy"
