What is your "go to" gift for a baby shower? I always buy off the registry, but I try to buy something practical and based on a theme, such as bath time, and I will give a bunch of items relating to bath time (infant tub, washcloths, bath toys, etc). Lately, I've been giving diapers as well. What do you tend to like to purchase?

Usually a kissy kissy outfit or the sleep sheep.

I make quilts for friends, and also bibs. I try to include something from the registry if there is one.

Registry gear! I don't like buying regular clothes but I did buy my friend's LO a cheerleading outfit from our college.

I always buy off the registry! If there's something I found particularly helpful that isn't on the registry, I will include that, too (an example would be a NoseFrida!).

Before I had a baby, I made quilts for close friends (I would love to continue to do that, but I don't have time!) or bought cute clothes.
Now that I am a mom, I tend to give a bag of stuff I couldn't have lived without. I base it around something off the registry, then add stuff I wouldn't have thought I needed, like
Oxyclean Free
a small bottle of Dawn blue
these particular burp cloths that are ludicrously expensive but *amazing*
A+A muslin swaddle blankets
etc. -
NoseFrida and cloth diapers to be used as burpy cloths!! Then something off their registry that I think they'll enjoy and is useful.

Is it bad that I don't put too much thought into the gifts beyond what is on the registry? I will just get whatever equals up to the amount I want to spend, regardless if it goes together or not.

I go off the registry. I usually try to buy books, or bath stuff, or bedding. I generally stay away from feeding supplies because it's typically all over the place and it stresses me out.
One of my cousins got me a big gift of toddler feeding supplies (plates, bowls, cups, spoons, forks, snack dispensers, storage, etc) and I am REALLY appreciating it now, because I never thought to register for it and I didn't have to rush out to buy anything when it all of a sudden crept up on me!

My go-to gift is a Sophie, Avent Soothie pacifiers, baby sunglasses and a couple of books. Sometimes also A&A swaddle blankets.

I also make blankets or quilts for most babies (unless I'm not particularly close to the mom...there's just too many babies coming this year!)
Either a small quilt that doubles as a play mat or a small crocheted blanket that works well for covering a carrier.
Handmade blankets are something I still treasure that I got when I was little, so I'm trying to continue that tradition.

Always off their registry and hopefully it's something I've used and loved. Then 1-2 fun items off registry like books or an outfit.

I try to find something on the registry that I can use to make something cute like I used A&A blankets and pee-pee tepees to make a diaper castle for a fairy tale themed shower or onesies and receiving blankets to make "cupcakes."

I always do something off the registry, but something that I have used and loved before if possible. I try to add a couple of books or a toy too.
