@Adira: it was a great show, but unfortunately, not for the mass audience. =( they should move it to cw or somewhere smaller!

@Adira: I am obsessed with all things Whedon. As excited as I am for The Avengers, I wish he would just do a TV show on the CW so I could get a weekly fix of awesomeness without worrying about cancellation all the time. Serenity was indeed excellent, so at least we can be thankful for that.
I don't watch Castle (not sure why since I love Nathan Fillion), I'll have to check it out. I think I didn't watch in the beginning because I thought it would probabaly get cancelled. Then it didn't but I still never got round to it. Time to fix that!

@plantains: castle is great! i actually went to a dr horrible's sing-a-long screening where we all sang along! have you seen that? afterwards joss whedon did a q&a. he is a really talented and funny guy.

@plantains: @tequiero21: Although shows tend to live longer on the CW because they don't expect the huge audience, they have a fairly narrow genre of what they air, most aimed at women. They have the Gossip Girl style shows and then the paranormal (Supernatural, Vampire Diaries) shows, with a sprinkling of reality mixed in.
I wish Whedon would go to a cable channel, like FX. He's probably thrive there. Oh well, The Avengers will tie me over for now, and then hopefully there's a second Doctor Horrible series.

@Mrs. Bee: Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous you went to that!!! I love Doctor Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog!!! So excellent!
Joss Whedon is hysterical. Did you see his letter trying to buy the Terminator franchise? He was offering $10k for it and listed a bunch of his ideas for what to do with it. You can read it here: http://whedonesque.com/comments/22240

@Mrs. Bee: I love Dr Horrible. I watch it all teh time to cheer me up after a rough day haha. A Q&A would have been amazing. I'm jealous. @Adira: I saw that and loved it. You are right, FX or AMC would be a good fit, but if he felt the need to stick with non-cable, CW could still work after all Buffy was on WB and UPN which are both eessentially all CW is made of
Sadly, after the Dollhouse experience I don't think we'll see another TV show from him for a while.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@plantains: That's true (about Buffy), but that's still within their supernatural genre that they love. Firefly was a mix sci-fi/western, which was probably too "out there" for them.
But I think you're right. Whedon won't be back on TV for a while. I think he's working on another movie right now anyway.

@Mrs.VW: Yes! FNL was such a good show! I love how Coach's marriage was depicted. The ending was awesome, at least. But I miss that show.

Aside from oldies like Friends and SATC, I really like recent series V, Flash forward and the CW version of Melrose PLace. too bad they got cancelled

This one is going to sounds weird, but Dr. Quinn Medacine Women was another good show. I think it had a lot of good "life lessons" in it. Very family friendly and inspirational for young girls who think they "cant" do something because its not normal or as acceptable for a women to do.

@sorrycharlie: and @ BLUESTRIPED BEE:

Boston Legal (Shatner & James Spader were hilarious), the Wire, Big Love - I want to see what happens to the wives!!!

I love Friends, but the show I'd really love to have return is Pushing Daisies. Cut short way too soon IMO.

Gilmore Girls for sure! I love love that show. I have the entire series on DVD.
Friends (I miss it so much)
SATC
Defying Gravity (think Grey's Anatomy in space... ahh it was soo good!)
Melrose Place (the original and the reboot)
I love TV!

@belleoftheballe: I want Gilmore Girls back, too!
And Freaks and Geeks was waaaay too short lived. I loved that show.

@artbee: I loved Dawson's Creek too! The ending was so sad!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@belleoftheballe: Did you read any of the interviews with the creator of Defying Gravity about what was going to happen with that show? It was already a bizarre show but it was going to get weirder!
clementine / 826 posts
@Adira: I did read a few... I like bizarre! I actually cried a little inside when I heard it was cancelled. It was so good.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@belleoftheballe: You live in Canada, right? The rest of the season never actually aired here in the US. So I only saw up to episode 8 (I think). They went to look in pod 4 and that's where it ended. I never saw anything past that, which was a total bummer.

Yes, I live in Canada. I think we got 9 or 10 episodes. I heard that our version of Space was going to air the rest of them, but it never came to be. The first 13 were on Itunes Canada for about a week and when I went to look for them again they were gone!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@belleoftheballe: Oh bummer! Sounds like you didn't get to see much more than me then. I liked a lot of the actors in that show too, so it was a bummer when it was canceled.
clementine / 826 posts
@Adira: It was such a bummer that it was cancelled. I haven't seen any of the actors in anything else yet. Poor them, I bet for some it was their first big break and poof! Cancelled. They always cancel the good ones.
I also heard somewhere that ABC was going to release the first 13 on DVD. Nothing yet.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@belleoftheballe: Yay!! Although if you do and you watch it, you'll be sad all over again that it was canceled. It's too bad the truly unique shows tend not to make it... they just don't reach a broad enough audience to last. Although maybe Defying Gravity would've done better on a different channel. It's hard to survive on the main networks.

@Adira: I agree. The Big Three don't give a lot of support to new shows. It's all about money now.
Defying Gravity could have done really well on Showtime or AMC.

Arrested Development and Traffic Light (a stupid sitcom about 3 couples that was on Fox last year-- hubs hated it!).
I re-watched some re-runs of Friends and am sooooo glad it's over. I don't think it's funny anymore! It's hard for me to enjoy sitcoms that have a cheesy laugh track. And the 2nd SATC movie killed any urge for me to see Carrie and the girls ever again.

@jessiejo17: Still Standing! We just discovered that show (reruns on ABC Family). We love it! They are too hysterical!
@mediagirl: I was going through aallll these replies and I'm like, no one said LOST til page 3?! Lol. We loved LOST, especially the first two seasons and the last one. it would be insanely cool if it came back!
@HabesBabe: Yes, can we all please have it erased from history that the 2nd SATC movie even existed? augh, so terrible. I loved the series and the first movie.... They should've left it at that!

two of my favorite shows ever were only one season long: freaks and geeks and my so-called life. the cliffhanger on my so-called life still makes me so impatient and frustrated!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@PitBulLover: Ahh, BSG! I loved that show!!! Although I was fairly satisfied (ish) with how it ended. My brother recently got the Battlestar Galactica: Board Game and it's AMAZING. If you like board games, you should check it out. Soooo much fun.
