@mrbee: I think the couple can consider i t their honeymoon for as long as they feel it's their honeymoon but discounts aren't needed nor should they be asked for, especially after about a year if I had to pick a timeframe.

@mrbee: If you have easy access to rose petals, I'd definitely do that! It's slightly cheesy but totally awesome and my husband and I had so much fun with it!

Because of work scheules and demands, we STILL haven't had one, other than a day trip the day after....
DD was born six months later, and then we moved, and now he'll be away for work the whole summer.
And now August will be 5 years. To US when we finally go on a trip childless it will be our delayed honeymoon, but we wouldn't dream of asking for a discount. I will however TELL people when we check in, etc that we're FINALLY having it years later without ANY expectation of discounts. If they want to give us one, they can, but I wouldn't make a big deal out of it.
I think most holiday places are used to folks not being able to afford both a wedding and honeymoon in the same year, so it shoudn't be weird to them.

I had not heard of such a thing until yesterday at brunch. Our friends are going to Africa for 5 weeks and safaris offer such deep discounts they considered getting married to get them. They will eventually get married but have only been dating a year.
