Heck no! Baby clothes are expensive, I'd love it if someone gave me a bunch! And used doesn't bother me, they're just gonna get pee and poo and puke on them anyways! But, everybody's different!

We were thrilled by everyone who shared! I will admit that I had one person we gave clothes to who was less than enthusiastic. I think she was hoping for all our designer stuff (which we have kept).

I wouldn't be!

I don't think offended is the right word . . . but after knowing what my LO's clothes have been through (lots of accidents!), I really wouldn't want anyone else's child's everyday clothes. But that's just me. And because this is very likely our only child, I also don't want to pass up any shopping opportunities.

I wouldn't be offended, but i wouldn't want used baby clothes. I don't mind certain used gear though

i would be super excited! i have a lot of friends with girls, but i don't want to ask in case they are holding onto them for the next kid!

I don't see why anyone would be offended. If she didn't want to use them then she should just say so.

I would be grateful not offended at all. Someone just gave me some used clothes for my son and I was so excited and not the least offended. Ppl are weird that was so nice of you!

I have gotten some great clothes from friends, so I'd be really excited! They outgrow everything so quickly anyway, a lot of the stuff I was given has never been worn or was worn maybe one time.

I would be so happy! Love getting used clothes even if sometimes I have to pass them on.

I would not be offended if someone offered, and I had a chance to say yes or no and let the person know what types of clothes would be appreciated. I would not want to be handed a bag of clothes unsolicited with the reciever assuming these worked for my child, so they will work for yours. Yes, its the thought that counts, but style is personal.

Since I shop at thrift stores I would just be excited! I tried to give my sister some really cute thrifted baby clothes and she was definitely offended! Umm when I find designer brands or even Carter's clothes for like $.69... Ya I'm gonna pick that up and share the wealth!

I received a lot of hand me downs from my husbands co workers, but eventually I had to tell him to stop accepting them. A lot of them were in awful condition with holes and stains and were from at least twenty years ago! The nicer condition items I was thankful for though.

Absolutely NOT. We just received a motherload of newborn-9 mo clothes from friends who have two boys in the same season as our LO is due. I feel incredibly grateful and thankful to them!! I am sorry your friend reacted that way.

Since they got rid of their whole baby loot, we took the whole thing and I just plan on setting aside the very few things that we won't use (too small/too well-loved/not practical) and will give them back to her to pass on to someone else, as she requested, when he outgrows the first lot.

Heck no! Half of LO's wardrobe consists of hand me downs from family. It's great!

I heart hand-me-downs in a big, bad way, so I would definitely not be offended. I think it's so fun to go through boxes of things and see what's in there!

Except in my case, it was maternity clothes. I had a friend who brought me two huge garbage bags full of maternity clothes (when she came to visit), and she kept wanting me to try them on (in front of our husbands).

I was nauseous, she and I are two totally different sizes (she's short, I'm 5'7, our bodies are totalllllly different, we're different non-mat sizes) AND we have totally different styles. Her style is a little more "suburban" for lack of a better word. Or maybe...more mommy? And mine isn't. Because I'm not a mommy (yet).

Anyway. I probably wasn't enthusiastic and she seemed really disappointed when I refused to try them on in front of everyone. I did "compromise" by looking through them and picking out ones I *thought* might fit/work for my style and I gave the rest back. Out of the 10 things I kept, when I did finally get around to trying them, only 1 shirt is something I will wear.

So....even though it's LOs, maybe she just feels like she has a different style? Either way, I definitely wasn't offended. Just not super excited.

Now I feel bad about not mustering some more enthusiasm for the maternity clothes for my friend, but truthfully, I just prefer to buy my own stuff.

@banana: I would have been grateful. Is she still pregnant? She could be hormonal about something else?
