Nope - not necessary at all. If you still feel strange not sending kids home with something, one nice thing I've seen done is that if there were a fair number of helium balloons used as decoration, each (child) guest takes home a few when they leave. Kids all seem to love balloons, it's no extra cost to the host (actually helps with cleanup), and it's deflated in a few days so won't be cluttering up the guests' house for long.

We didn't have favors for the adults but I did make little goodie bags for her friends that came. Some baby/ kid snacks and little target dollar section toys/ coloring books etc.

Phew! Lol I was really glad to see that poll result!! Favors were not even a thought in my mind for my LO's bday! I agree people probably don't care.
