My six week postpartum visit is today. My mom has a cold so she can't babysit, which means the baby is coming with me. He's not a big fan of napping in his car seat, so it's going to take a lot of work to keep him happy. Not sure how that's going to work during the actual exam... Already stressed out! Did you take your baby to your PP exam?

Good luck! I will be in the same boat...And my OB always has an insanely long wait, regardless of appt! I'm dreading it!

My husband came with me so he had LO, but I'm sure the nurses and staff will be more than happy to hold your LO during your exam - they were holding 2 LOs whose moms were having their exams and they wanted my LO as well!!

I did not - my mom watched him. But my OB was super surprised I didn't bring him! She said all the nurses pitch in and help during the visit if the baby is cranky during that visit.

I did. I just assumed that's what you do since the baby hasn't gotten shots.

No - LO stayed home with DH. But I have seen plenty of other moms bring their LOs to their pp checkups.

I took LO to mine, and it was totally fine. She had started boycotting all naps by that time, so she wasn't sleeping in the carseat. But I held her for everything but the actual exam. She sat in the carseat for that. My Dr actually said I could hold her during the exam too, but I couldn't figure out how tondo that safely. DD also had the biggest poop explosion of her life on the exam table that day

I have had to take my kids with before and the nurses are happy to hold the babies or color with a toddler.

I had to bring mine and she was not happy. The exam took over an hour bc she kept crying! It's a really busy practice so there wasn't any staff available to hold her.

I didnt, I left her mom with my mom, but I met a lady at the doctors office that day who was also there for her 6 week visit and she brought her baby.

I took LO and he was fine. He just kinda started at me from his carseat. But LO also LOOOOVVVES his carseat.

I took her to mine. The wait wasn't long luckily and she was not too fussy when I had to put her down for 5 minutes for the physical exam.

Ugh ill be in the exact same situation tomorrow! Hoping I'm in quick and a nurse will hold during the exam he's so wiggly I'd be terrified of holding still and holding him but he also hates his cars eat

I took mine with me. Wasnt the most pleasant experience, but it wasnt too bad either. Good luck!

I took my son to my 6-week PP exam. He slept almost the whole time so it wasn't a big deal but likely if it had been I would have held him or the nurse would have.

I took DD. She started crying during the IUD insertion, so one of the nurses came in and took for me while we finished up.

There are always Mom with newborn's at my doctor's office when I have an appointment, so I would assume it happens all the time.

@Mrs. Tricycle: I left him at home with DH but my OB was disappointed I didn't bring DS, she really wanted to see him!

I didn't think about passing him off to a nurse! Good call. Since I know the wait will be a long time I'm just going to wear him in the Ergo and only take him out for the actual exam. Cross your fingers for me!!

i didn't, but my OB walked in he looked around the room and said 'where's the baby?' i was suprised he actually wanted him there! haha

i brought her! my OB wheeled around to replace her binky or rock her carseat if needed, but she was good.

I brought her! I asked the OB to pose for a pic with her since he did my C-section.

I took mine with me. He is usually a sleeper, but he was awake and crying. The nurses just took him out of the room and held him, which was fine by me. If you are okay with something like that, its no big deal!

She was with me but my mom was there to hold onto her. I definitely think a nurse would be willing to tend to her though. My OB was really excited to see LO and said she loves it when moms bring their LOs to their 6 week appointment. When I went back to get my Mirena put in, there were a couple of moms with newborns and the nurses seemed more than willing to help.

Yup and she cried every time I put her down. One of the nurses held her for me during the exam. They loooooooooooove holding babies.

I wasn't going to, but my doctor made a comment in the hospital that he loves to see the babies at the six week check-up. He was so happy I brought her...he said he is always disappointed when the baby doesn't come. I guess he doesn't really see the baby much once he/she is born so it's nice for him to see the babies after all of the help, care, advice, etc. he has provided over the past nine months
