Any May 2013 mommies out there?

Hey guys! We had our first appointment with the midwife this morning. It went all right. I though for sure she would at least check for a heart beat (even the nurse said she probably would), but she didn't and said it would be too early (we're 8W3D). I thought it was a bit of rubbish, but just went along with it. But, honestly, I'm super bummed. We've been waiting to tell people until our first appointment to be "sure" everything is going well, but now we still can't be sure. Then I had to go to the lab and they took 12(!) viles of blood. I'm not feeling so hot right now, to say the least. She said I won't have an U/S til 18-20 weeks, but for goodness sake I just want to hear the heartbeat! : (

Ok, enough pity party for today. I have to be grateful that there is a babe inside (I think and it's Friday!

@emg86, welcome! It sounds like things are moving along nicely for you.

@Jojogirl, glad you had a great appt!

@Mrslovejoy, glad your appointment went well but bummer that they didn't even listen for the heartbeat!

I also can't believe they took 111 or 12 vials of blood from you both, ouch! I think they took 4 at my first appointment. My midwife had tested me for a bunch of stuff, probably 6 vials, at an annual appt a few months prior though, because I said we would be TTC in the coming year or so, so maybe that's why.

I continue to feel a little better! I still feel gross before I eat in the morning and up until about noon, but nothing like earlier in the week. I've been taking b6 at the recommendation of my midwife, and I think that may be helping, Definitely worth a shot if any of you ladies are suffering with nausea.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: We're doing the same, our appointment is Monday and once I hear that heartbeat, i'm going to tell people! I wonder why you didn't get to?

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Bummer you couldn't hear it We didn't hear it but they did a dating u/s due to my long cycles so we could see it. That almost didn't happen though - they told me on the phone they wouldn't do an u/s til 12 weeks unless I had a risk history.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: I'm really sorry you didn't get to see the heart beat. That's so disappointing. Wow, what is with the crazy amount of blood loss going on around here? Hope you recover quickly from losing that much blood.

Happy Friday ladies! My hubbie and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend since it falls on Monday. We're going to eat dinner where we got married, and are getting a small cake from the bakery that did our wedding cake. Hopefully nausea won't ruin this for me.

@Revel: @MrsTiz: @autumnlove: @JoJoGirl: @MrsWasatch: Thank you guys, you are all so sweet.. I think we're going to continue with our plan to tell family and close friends over the next couple weeks despite not discovering much at our appointment. I asked her if she'd at least test my urine to make sure I was still pregnant - ha! She probably thought I was crazy.

@MrsWasatch: Have so much fun at your anniversary celebration! It sounds so wonderful. Here's to nausea not ruining the fun!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: I don't know if this will make you feel better, but when we had our ultrasound they basically just took a snap shot of the heart beating and turned it into a sound. so we didn't actually hear baby's heart beat, just a generated sound clip. I would have been just as disappointed as you though. Just think about how exciting it will be when you can hear it!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: @Cupcake: Thanks for the anniversary wishes. It was wishful thinking that I'd be perfectly fine to go out to dinner tonight. I should have known the one night I desperately want to go out is the day vomiting would start. Maybe I'll feel better this evening.

@MrsWasatch: we celebrated our first anniversary on 9/10... It was also the day I started vomitting! Terrible.

I have my first appointment today, we're going to have a trans vaginal ultrasound and take blood and all that. Both DH and I are so so excited. I don't think i'll get anything done at work until then!

I also bought a whole bunch of maternity clothes this weekend. 2 pairs of pants, a pair of leggings, a skirt and three shirts. Now i'm just hoping that they'll last the whole time!

@autumnlove: So far i'm loving them! I'm in my pre-preg jeans today because I don't want the OB to laugh at me for being in them at only 9 weeks!

@MrsTiz, I hope you have a great appointment!

Sorry everyone is feeling so LARGE today - who knew early pregnancy could have this strong of an effect?

@MrsWasatch, sorry your MS is knocking you out. I feel for you. I find that Monday is the worst day of the week for me. I've been having good days and bad days, almost exactly alternating, since 6 weeks exactly... when I'm having a bad day I try to remember that I'll probably feel a little better the next day.

Just wanted to update you guys; im supposed to be right at 9 weeks
Went to OB today, they tried a regular u/s and couldn't find anything so they did a trans vaginal u/s and saw a "pregnancy spot' but couldn't find a heartbeat. She said baby was measuring at 6 weeks 2 days. Doctor came in a while later and told me to mentally prepare to miscarry because there was no heartbeat and it didn't look good. I am absolutely devastated, and basically haven't stopped crying since. I have to go back next Tuesday to see if baby is alive or not.

I had my last period start August 15, don't know when i ovulated..am I 6 weeks, or 9? Uhg im losing my mind. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Did you miscarry or carry it?

@MrsTiz: Oh my god, I am so so sorry. How long were your cycles before you got your BFP? If they were pretty long, it could be possible you ovulated super late. I don't know what to tell you. Tuesday seems like an eternity to wait to find out. Sending you huge hugs

ETA: Re your question at the end, there are only a small handful of ladies in this thread, most of whom I don't know have ever gotten a BFP before (except AutumnLove and maybe someone else)... maybe ask the rest of HB and see if you can find some answers.

@MrsTiz: Oh gosh, I don't know what to say except I'm so, so , so sorry. My heart is breaking for you. I will keep you in my thoughts, prayers - the works - on the run up to Tuesday.

My initial thought was the same as Jojogirl's, most of the Bees don't read the specific due date threads (I only do because I was a May mommy before my m/c and I want to see how you're all doing) so you may want to post your question as a seperate thread. I know tere are a lot of bees who have m/cd on here because they all came out of the wordwork to support me... they might have some answers.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of you and we're all here if ou need us. xx

@MrsTiz, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I've not specifically been in your situation but I do have long cycles and thought you might be interested to hear my situation with this pregnancy. I have somewhat regular 45 day cycles. My LMP was August 4, and I tested positive on September 18 - so CD 46. Because I have longer cycles, my doctor estimated that I was probably ovulating around CD 30 or 31. Sure enough, the dating US confirmed those dates - I measured right at 6 weeks on October 4, rather than the almost 9 weeks I would have been by LMP.

I'm hopeful that you might find yourself in a similar situation. Were your long cycles regular at all, such that you might be able to figure if 6 weeks might be accurate?

hello ladies, i haven't posted since a while back. i had tons of blood taken from me.. lol (third pregnancy-- the first two ended in miscarriage) so they're doing a lot of make sure this one sticks. my hcg numbers looked good at 16dpo (i'm 43dpo now)-- 649 and progesterone 29.5 but my ob put me on vaginal suppository progesterone until 11 weeks. I'm a little over 7 weeks now (i think) but will go in this Friday for an ultrasound to see what's in my tummy and to see how far along I am. I'm feeling huge and bloated, boobs are sore, breaking out all over my forehead with little bumps, and really tired. Doc also told me to take baby aspirin, extra folic acid, and extra b12. She also told me to rest and not exercise! LOL.

@MrsTiz sorry to hear about your situation. Both times I miscarried, I heard a heartbeat at 6 weeks but I might have been low on progesterone or my body was too weak to sustain the pregnancy. Has your doctor said anything about progesterone? I hope everything works out.

Do you guys have weird twinges near your hip bone/pelvic area?

@jojogirl-- yay for a great ultrasound and great appt!!

    @autumnlove: @MrsWasatch: Thanks guys xo

    @Ali: Thanks, I think i'll do that
@Revel: I wasn't charting or anything, so I don't know when I o'd. I had been just highlighting the dates I was on AF, so
June 15.. July 16.. August 15 were my last 3 period dates, I think thats a 28 day cycle right?

@mssally: They didn't do anything! They took a urine sample and 1/2 a vile of blood. I guess once they didn't see a heartbeat they didn't see any point in doing any tests.

@MrsTiz: Oh dear I'm so sorry If your cycles were 28 days I don't know how you'd be only 6 weeks now. I'm so, so, unbelievably sorry you are going through this. Hugs.

@MrsTiz, that sounds like a pretty regular 28-30 day cycle, so it does seem unlikely that your dates would be that far off. Keeping you in my thoughts through this tough time. I hope you have answers soon!
